How do i reinstall a update for Final Cut Studio

I have Final Cut Studio and updated it through apple.com. Recently my system crashed and i to reboot everything. The updates were uninstalled somehow
Now when i go back to apple.com it states my serial number to already used. How to i update that

I'm running FCP 5.0.4 but need to be on the version my new editor is using (5.1.3). I've tried to go to the Apple site, and I've downloaded the 5.1.3 update, but it won't let me update unless I do some updates in between which I can't find.

It's really important to keep your discs. Ignoring this crossgrade issue, what would you have done had your system drive crashed and you'd simply had to reinstall the software? Always keep your original software discs somewhere safe.
As to the 'unusual and unreasonable' issue, you're not the first or last to complain about this - none of us were very happy about it. But remember that Final Cut Studio when installed is about a 35GB suite of applications and media. There's simply no way that would have been doable by Apple as a download. Imagine the number of people who's connections would have dropped during the download, or who simply don't have the bandwidth to download something that large?
Some things are best done the old way! Anyway - try the XML sequence exchange I mentioned above, that'll save you the money, hassle AND the time.

Updates for Final Cut Studio, Quicktime, and OS X on new iMac? Which ones?

Okay, so I have been searching through the forums about updates for all the software updates, and which ones work and which ones don't. The Tiger vs. Leopard battle. The ones that have had no problems doing all the updates and the ones who are suffering terribly. But it is really hard to pinpoint everything since it is all spread out over so many different pages. So I am hoping that this question will be of benefit to others in my situation.
So I have a new iMac Alu 24" 2.4 ghz, and 4 gig of RAM. I did software update for everything except the OS and not for Quicktime. So I am running OS X 10.4.10 and Quicktime 7.2
I installed FCP Studio 2 without a hangup. I did not even bother to install Color because I knew that it would be more then this GPU could handle. I didn't bother with Live Type either. Don't use it at work and don't think it will be any different at home. So I intalled FCP 6, Compressor 3, Motion 3, Soundtrack 2, and DVD Studio 4. I have done no updates to any of the Studio programs. So I am looking for some opinions (more then one would be appreciated). What updates should I do and which ones should I avoid for my particular setup? I want to do this as right as I can the first time around.
Again sorry, if this seems redundant, but I want to get everything together in one place to make sure that I don't miss something from split up forums. And hopefully this will help others. Sorry about the length.

UPDATE: Okay, so I gave my Final Cut a really simple run through last night. Just shot some footage on the HV20 and imported it and did the Apple recommend workflow for the reverse telecine. (I know, I know, doing the full out reverse telecine to get it to 24p is unnecessary if I am just going back to video, but I just wanted to give it whirl) Anyways it worked, and it came out great. So I dropped into a 24p timeline and through it together, and no software malfunctions. No complaints. During log and capture, there was a lag between my player and the computer, but the footage after capture was right on targert (I am referring to audio sync).
So as long as it works, I am happy. Besides, I don't plan on using on board audio too much since there are no XLR inputs unless I get a Beachtek. Different story, sorry.
So currently, with absolutely no Studio updates, OS X 10.4.10, and QT 7.2, on a brand new iMac, 2.4ghz, 24", everything is as it should be. I'll keep checking back in to see if anyone recommends an update for me or if I encounter problems and what caused them.

I have a Mac Pro with Mavericks and Final Cut Pro X 10.1 installed. It seems to complete the update to the best of my knowledge. It shows it to be Final Cut Pro X Supplemental Content 1.0. Is there a later version (a 2.0?)? It seems it started when Mavericks updated. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution to get it to update once and for all?

your post fixed my issue
but it did take more than deleting torrented apps, once your run a program with a MASReciept with someone elses Apple ID. that other ID is saved in all apps you got off of app store.
You have to delete all apps that contain the MASReciept (the terminal command tells you which ones) then quit appstore then reboot download all apps again.
it taught me to just buy my apps..

How do I get a receipt for final cut x? I paid for it to use at work and I cant claim the cost back unless I have a receipt. Apple cant claim it is an app for personal use when they are pitching this software for professional editing

Did you make the purchase? They should have sent you an email when you purchased it to confirm the transaction or something. That should include some sort of receipt.
It is for personal use because not only businesses use it, individuals use it too for independent YouTube channels, etc.

How simple is the Bluray authoring in Final Cut Studio?

I've been reading posts on Bluray authoring with Final Cut Pro. Just got the upgrade to Final Cut Studio and saw some video at the apple site about bluray.
Frankly, I don't want to spend money with a Windows authoring software for Bluray.
So, how basic is the bluray authoring in Final Cut Studio?
I need the following:
1-Use a custom image for the background in the menu (but no moving clips,etc).
2-Chapters.
3-Enclose an option for an extra short video (like "making off").
If that is done with FC Studio, it would be enough.

What I'm really interested is in the HD quality of the video. Flashy flying menus and camera angles I never used neither with commercial DVD or Blurays.
For authoring: I'll use a custom image (jpeg or whatever - probably a still from the video I shot) for the backgroud , 2 lines of title (1- full video and 2- extra short video) and chapters to jump to scenes.
In other hand, I shot a video mostly using time lapse with a Canon DSRL (TIFFs edited in Motion), set the FCPro project to 1920 x 1080 25p Apple proress 422 (HQ), and in a Full HD TV I use for monitor (with AJA HDMI converter) looks AWESOME! Images look as amazing as some Hollywood bluray I rented.
So as you can imagine,I don't want recompressions that may degrade the full HD video.
If that is possible with the FC Studio bluray basic authoring,I'm running monday to buy an external Bluray, like LA cie or else.

film leaders clips can be downloaded online if you dig around a bit ... Peter Wiggins has a nice Motion Template clock he offers for free (which is a bargain by anyones reckoning)
easy enough to create your own film leader style countdown with a few back to back text generators separated by clock wipe transitions
color bars can already found in your fcp video generators bin
color bars and a film leader style countdown can also be auto generated during output (print to video and edit to tape)
distort faces and license plate like they do on tv? ... ok i give up, what do you mean? if you mean you want to disguise them (Mosaic, Blur etc) then you can have a bash with my Region Blur plugin

Does anyone have a set of manuals for Final Cut Studio 5.1 that they don't need and would be willing to sell?
I got the crossover version, and find it difficult to cuddle up with the pdf files provided.

How to get the Vimeo encoding in Final Cut Studio / Final Cut Pro (for web)

I have some films I would like to "display" on the web. It seems that vimeo.com has a great way of encoding films for the web.

I love how the videos starts almost instantly in hd on Vimeo! Al right it skips a bit, but then again it is hd on the web.....

So...what a lot of folks are doing these days, is uploading to Vimeo (or similar service). Then back on your own website simply "embed" the Vimeo movie. You can control the size & control colors of the embed. When you're on the Vimeo page for a particular video, you'll see the "Embed" link on the right of the video. Click that and it will expose the code you need to copy into your own website.

I just installed Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 on my MacBook Pro. I work at a post production facility, and all the other guys in the shop are running 6.0.4. I was told that what I installed was the same thing everyone else installed. So I ran Software Update. It searched and installed updates for LiveType, DVD Studio, and several other programs. But did not come back with update results for Final Cut Pro. I installed the other programs, restarted, and have since run Software Update three more times. It claims everything is up to date. But obviously 6.0.1 is not the latest version. Any thoughts?

External hard drives are 10x (more or less) faster than CD's/DVD's to read and write too. Is faster to rip a DVD/CD and put it on a hard drive and read/write from that file than it to read and write to a DVD/CD.
DVDs/CDs are old school for holding data and... Apple doesn't use them any more... Not to long you will see and end to DVDs/Cds (blu-ray too).

Soo, I bought my Final Cut Studio that came w/ Final Cut Pro 5.1 two years ago. After Installing it to my Mac Book Pro and using it for a few years i'm selling it. Now, that I have it listed on Ebay i'm getting a lot of questions about Re-Installing and Serial Numbers for the The Final Cut Studio. How do i make sure that it can be reinstalled into another CPU w/ No Problem??

Final Cut Pro and Studio have never used an authorization process in the way that Adobe programs do, for example. So their is no deauthorization process either.
All you have to do is provide the package, disks and manuals together with the original documentation "Installing your Software" and the original sticker sheet with serial number, attached to its front page.
If this was an upgrade version, you do not *under any circumstances* provide the previous serial number. it is up to the buyer to already have a valid previous serial number.
