How Do I Reinstall Activity Monitor?

I accidentally put activity monitor in the trash. Can I reinstall it?

I upgraded from Tiger using the Leopard upgrade disc. I tried to extract files but it seemed like it was installing everything so I got kind of concerned and aborted. Any easier way to do this? I have Time Machine. Is there a way to use it? Thanks!!

  • How can I get Activity Monitor to work?

I've searched the discussions to no avail, so I have this question: how can I get Activity Monitor to work? It launches and its window opens but then the spinning beachball appears. I've checked the Console and it shows that the Activity Monitor is attempting to fully launch but then it "exits" and then it tries to fully start up again, goes into an infinite loop or something. Issued a "force quit" succesfully. I've deleted the Activity Monitor's .plist, no joy. What to do? Thanks!
    I'm running 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro (late 2011)

I wish I could be more positive but I have no experience of MacBook Pros and whether their demands on the system differ from my simple iMac.   If you have the time to scour through 'More like this' ( to the right of your initial post) and the links within it, you may find leads.
I also found this thread via Google which in parts seems to echo your troubles.  I hope it helps; thank you for the star.

  • How to make Mavericks Activity monitor refresh every second

I noticed that the Mavericks version of Activity Monitor now refreshes only every 5 seconds.  It used to be every second.  I am guessing they intend to make Activity Monitor more energy efficient this way, but is it possible to make it refresh every second like it used to ?
    Thank you !

  • Activity Monitor damaged?

I tried to start the Activity Monitor, but when I clicked on it, a message came up stating it was damaged. How do I reinstall Activity Monitor on my machine?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
If you deleted some Apple software or are having difficulties with your computer's software that you can't seem to fix, you may want to restore some or all of the software on your computer to its original state. Restoring software replaces the Mac OS or application software that came on your computer with an exact copy of the original software.
You restore software using the Software Restore or Install disc or discs that came with your computer.
IMPORTANT: Depending on what computer you have and the method of restoring software you use, some or all of the documents, preferences, updates, plug-ins, and other information may be lost. Be sure to back up the files for each user account on your computer before restoring software.
For instructions for restoring Mac OS software go here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61802
    It's very easy ...

  • I compressed Activity Monitor and deleted the compressed file in error. How do I get it back?

In trying to reduce my CPU load, I compressed the Activity Monitor. Before I can use the compressed file, I mistakenly deleted it and now when I try to open it, I get the dreaded spinning wheel. After a long wait, I forced quit.
What happened and how do I get Activity Monitor back?

Never tamper with programs which come with the system. You could try downloading and applying the 'combo updater':
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
However this won't help if Activity Monitor hasn't been updated since the initial release, which may well be the case. In that event you will need to reinstall Snow Leopard from your original install disks and then apply the combo updater again.
Alternatively it may be possible to extract Activity Monitor from the installed disk by using Pacifist - no promises about that.

  • Activity monitor...how to reset?

My DSL provider has now limited me to 150 GB of downloaded data.  I need to know how to reset the Activity Monitor to monitor my network download usage.

    Hola Dalgor777,
There is a widget called iStat Pro that has a section (Network) that monitorize the bandwidth. I think may help you.
I see that it has been deprecated by the company: iSlayer. You can download from here.
    Greetings,

  • Activity Monitor no more working!

Suddenly, I discovered today, starting Activity Monitor show me an alert panel with
"the application closed unexpectedly", and bye bye. Also as admin user. What the he**?
I have the last available version on my iMac PowerPC, no software update to download.
I reinstalled Activity Monitor from the Leopard DVD using Pacifist, and repaired the
disk permissions. Nothing changed. So what to do?

I asked you to try another user account because I suspected a preference file in your main wasn't working. When the same problem occurs in another account, this usually means the problem is somewhere in the system. In my experience, the easiest way to deal with a system-wide problem is to do an Archive and Install of the OS. It will save all the user data and settings, but puts a fresh copy of the OS on the machine--which should fix whatever hiccup is causing your Activity Monitor to give you problems.
There's the possibility that some terminal commands could help you, but I've no experience with it.
If you don't like my suggestions, don't follow them--an Archive and Install is often suggested when other troubleshooting doesn't help. My post count doesn't much matter to me, really. I'm just trying to help folks and learn while doing so.

  • Activity Monitor Frozen for Days

It's me again. Begging for help. I know how to use the Activity Monitor, and it works well. But this is a problem I haven't seen.
Three days ago, I made the mistake of clicking on the "Sample" button for Classic FTP, which was not working at all.
Since that time, I have had a message that says:
    Sample of Classic FTP
Please wait while the sample is taken.
I have not been able to shut my computer down since. Not by using the Shut Down option, and not even by turning the machine off and back on.
I'm sure the answer is simple, but I can't figure it out.
    Help!

    Thank you!
The Activity Monitor was not available, as it was too busy trying to pull up that sample. But your instructions on how to turn if off via the Power Button (DUH!) was what I needed.
Mac is too intuitive for an old PC-user like me!
    Thanks.

  • Re-install utility, activity monitor only

can someone help me to reinstall activity monitor as the original support and or library files are corrupted or missing (7yr old "assistant" at work)
I do NOT want to reinstall the whole osx, only activity monitor.
    thanks very much.

    bluezedd,
The Console Log message begs the question, and I know you previously repaired permissions, but have you tried to permissions repair one more time after you reapplied the Combo Update?
The setuid root message seems to point to ownership issues, but I am not the one to speculate or make recommendations at that level of the system.
The "7yr old "assistant" at work" appears to have done more damage than would be expected with a simple removal of Activity Monitor.
I know that you said that you did NOT want to reinstall the the whole OS, but considering the time that you have already spent on this problem, I would suggest that an Archive and Install of Panther followed by the application of the Mac OS X Combined Update 10.3.9, would be the best course of action.
I have successfully used Archive and Install on my G3 iMac when I replaced the Hard Drive, and I was impressed by the fact that all user settings and preferences remained intact.
Whatever you decide, make sure you are properly backed up.
    Good Luck.
    ;~)

  • Activity Monitor not working in Yosimite

Error Message:  You can’t use this version of the application “Activity Monitor.app” with this version of OS X.
I am now running Yosimite. Activity Monitor picture not displayed on its icon either.
How do I get Activity Monitor to run and get the icon picture to display too.
    ggdad

    Heheh revjay, exactly :-D
@ Leinie: When you install any new software or updates, then it's always a good idea to repair permissions, so you will have a "clean" system afterwards.
Repairing permission also solves quite a lot of issuses with applications i.e. if they tend to hang, or crash. So this should always be one of the first things you do when something is not doing as it should on your mac.
    Glad that it works now

  • How do I locate and install Activity Monitor?

I cannot find Activity Monitor on my computer.
When and how it disappeared I do not know, but is there anyway of locating and installing a copy without a complete re-install?

"Activity Monitor" is stored on the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder. Before reinstalling OS X, I recommend you to search it with Spotlight.
To search it in Spotlight, press Command and Space keys so, if you have a look at the top right of the display, Spotlight will appear. Then, type "Activity Monitor" without quotes, and check if the application appears. If it appears, it hasn't disappeared because you can use it. If it doesn't appear, you have to reinstall Mac OS X. Insert the Mac OS X disc, hold the C key while your computer is starting, and reinstall Mac OS X. You won't lose anything from your computer

    Did you find any solution?
