How do I reinstall an audio device when its missing?

I accidentally deleted my audio device while troubleshooting problems with my sound (the red X over the volume) and cannot reinstall it.  I know it's an IDT audio codec device from some of the previous diags, but you can't install a driver for a device that doesnt exist.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1378r entertainment laptop w/Win7 (64bit).  I have even tried installing an incorrect device - hoping that I could add the correct one later, but once the bad one is deleted, the entire SOUND, VIDEO, GAME CONTROLLERS icon is deleted.
I keep getting error 10 when running the audio troubleshooter.  It tells me NO AUDIO DEVICE INSTALLED.  When I try to install the IDT drivers (with my fingers crossed), it fails.

My built-in system speaker (realtec) and the playback device (altec lansing) are both missing--from the bios and in the device listing (even though there are configurations for these, and the Windows 8 troubleshooter claims they are working as expected. I sent the 3-month old Pavilion G7 laptop to repair--and it was determined that the machine has moisture damage, voiding any warranty; repair would cost MORE than a whole new laptop!
What isn't documented (I have yet to find it) is where and how the sound component (which I think is an integrated part of the motherboard) was so easily affected. Not from any spills. But I DID find a yuky smell and moisture when the device was returned to me--and I have to surmise that if you spill something on the table and you pick up your laptop: TAKE IT APART because there's a little button that wicks liquid up into the cover on the backside/bottom of a laptop.  The device was returned to me with the back cover still off, and enough residual to pull components out of the motherboard. (Thanks, repair folks!)--without that hint, I never would have considered the wicking nature of a little button, and I didn't know to LOOK by disassembling the machine! In fact, I think it would have voided the warranty for me to open it up, but if I had, I would still have a functioning 6 month old laptop!
Seeking ways to replace the sound component or add one to one of the USB ports.

Hey ppl,my macbook is not booting and by that i mean u can hear the audio wave when its starting up,the screen goes white and then after a while there's a folder with a question mark in the middle of the screen...anyone,any ideea?!?Regards.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the hard drive data is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the optical drive.
Once it has finished booting and you are at the Install screen launch Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then select the First Aid Tab run Repair Disk and if that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • How to solve High Definition Audio Device issue on Vostro 5470

I have a Vostro 5470 and after installing Windows 8.1 Professional, I'm getting the following issue.
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful."
Does any one have any idea how to fix this? I have downloaded the most recent version of the drive from dell support site, but nothing!

Make sure the Windows Audio Service is running.

I have downloaded the most recent version of the drive from dell support site
You can only get the Realtek audio driver from Dell, not the High Definition Audio Device driver. That one is the Windows native audio driver. To update it you would have to let Windows go online to search for an update from Microsoft.
From your screen shot it appears that both the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native audio driver ("High Definition Audio Device") are both showing. Normally only one would show up in the Device Manager. I would try re-installing Windows and not installing any Realtek driver. Without a Realtek driver Windows will install its native driver and produce audio. If it failed to do that then the error would be due to hardware failure or some kind of problem within Windows.

[Aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt](wow they don't allow me to use my pseudo to greet you guys i'm sorry)

I don't believe you can do this with just Java code, but as you suggested running a utility using runtime.exec() is a possiblity. I believe there is also lots of example C/C++ code that could be modifed to be used by Java / JNI. I found several examples using a google search.
Here is a URL of a utility that could be used for your purpose. I did not see source code or support information, so if this is an important I would google for something that might be "safer" in the long run.

  • HT1338 how can i reinstall my audio driver

were do i need to go to reinstall my audio driver im having some problems with netflix audio

It's not a common thing for users to re-install audio drivers (or any OS-supplied drivers) on OS X.  If NetFlix is the only service you're experiencing audio problems with, try contacting their dedicated support service.  If you're having problems with audio in additional applications, post the applications and a description of the issues, and we'll try to advise further.

  • How can I get an audio notification when someone is contacting me via facetime?

I cannot find any setting that turns on an audio notification when one of my contacts is 'calling' me via facetime. I have an ipad mini and have missed calls because I was unaware someone was trying to reach me. The sound is turned on and volume is up on my mini when this happened. Are you sure you increased the caller volume? This is only adjustable while in conversation. So, while you are calling you'll see a few icons on your screen and one of them is to adjust your caller volume.

I have inadvertantly deleted the icon to open Adobe Dreamweaver, however I do have a .dmg copy of the application. How do I reinstall Dreamweaver from the .dmg file?

    Steph44 wrote:

Where? From the Dock or the Applicaitons folder?
The Dock icons are "aliases" or "shortcuts" to the original files  or programs, in this case in your Applications folder.
Just drag the Adobe Dreamweaver icon out of the Applications folder and position it on the Dock in the old location, it will make another "alias" and the original returns to the Application folder.
If it's gone from your Applicaiotns folder, look in your Trash can and put it back in the Applicaitons folder
If not there then open the DMG by double clicking on it and double clicking on the installer file to reinstall it.
You'll have to update the program and likely enter your serial again.

         All good advice.
I went and checked out the link you provided, and started salivating immediately. But $200 is too much for me right now. Looked at the lav (what does that mean?) mic adjacent to it-- lovely, very portable, and almost affordable. I registered, and created a wish list. I think my wedding anniversary or something must be coming up soon...
I was thinking about my barely-there audio today, and just for the fun of it checked my volume button. I NEVER turn it down. Never. But it was, by about half. Does this have any effect on recording, or just ringing? (Can you tell I'm almost totally techno-ignorant?)
Something else occurred to me too. When I was shooting, twice so far (and I am cringing writing this), I was talking really low the whole time. Last night, cuz my hubby was asleep in the next room; this morning, because I didn't want to scare the birds I was videoing away...   uh.....   Well, DUH.
Actually, I have already bought one of those little capsule mics, found it on Amazon. IT WON'T FIT ON MY PHONE WHILE THE CASE IS ON. And I am scared to death to take the case off! The thing's made out of glass, for cripes sake, and I am a CLUTZ.
Thanks again!! I'll be coming up with plenty more stupid questions for quite a while, I'm sure
