after updating software today, (iTunes and Pro Codecs) my computer (iMac 8,1 Snow Leopard) keeps
occasionally showing the error msg:
The System Extension "System/Extensions/AppleUSBInternethost.kext was installed
improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or try contacting the product's vendor..."
I have no idea how to reinstall. I have a week-old Carbon Copy Clone of my computer, done before
i saw this error message. I took the file from there and replaced the one on my iMac's hard drive;
still get the same error message.
any help appreciated.

Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and run the following:
do shell script "chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext" with administrator privileges
You may then need to restart the computer.

I do not mean the entire ITunes folder but, rather, the contents of the ITunes folder prior to September 29th. (90% of the media is missing, along with all playlists) The media that remains says it was added on 9/29 although I know most of it was added many months or even years earlier. There are no playlists listed at all, before or after 9/29. (I know for certain that I added non-iTunes purchased songs on 10/6 although I had not created playlists for them)
I have my iTunes folder backed up on both an external drive as well as Time Machine.
I run iTunes off of an ITunes folder on my computer rather than from the external, if that's what you mean about how I have it set up.
Is it OK to drag the entire iTunes folder from the external drive onto my laptop's drive and see if that fixes it?

Nothing should be lost... However... it is both Prudent and Recommended that a backup should have been created and maintained.

You are allowed to have two machines with activated installations, so if you only had one installation, you still have the option to install on a second without doing anything further than that. If you originally downloaded the purchase thru Adobe then you might find a download link available in your Adobe account online. You can also download thru the following page if you can find your version:

hi, I recently did a clean install to Snow Leopard on my macbook Pro. Everything went smoothly other than apparently I need to add the iphoto back on to my mac. I DO have the original discs 1 & 2 that came with my macbook pro. Would someone be so kind as to walk me through how I would reinstall iPhoto, iDVD, etc. I have read some posts that say use disc 1 others say use disc 2..... so I am confused and don't want to do anything incorrectly. You have not specified which version of Premiere Pro was given to you. If you don't have the disc (which i suppose you don't have) you will have to download it online.
As far as your registration is concerned, for Premiere Pro CS6 or earlier you will have to reach Adobe chat support for further help: http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
For Premiere Pro CC and later, you will not have much problems reactivating it.

I updated my Safari from 5.1.3 (I believe) to the latest Safari 7 (I believe). When I tried to open it, it said I needed to update my osx, which I don't want to do. Now I can't seem to go back to the Safari I had. I've tried installing version 5.1.1, but it says I need to have mac osx 10.6. My osx version is 10.7.2 and don't want to upgrade yet, but how do I get Safari back, and which version of Safari works in osx 10.7.2?
What happened is not fair because when I was installing the new version of Safari, there was no warning about which osx I needed. Only after it replaced the old version did it say that I can't use it with my current osx. Is that Apple's way to force you to upgrade to the latest osx? Not fair! How can I reinstall Safari now?

On a Mac running v10.7.2, the only way to reinstall Safari is to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery.
Safari 5.1.1 is for Snow Leopard. It will not run on a Mac with v10.7 installed.
