How do i reinstall bluetooth on my mac pro 17

How do I reinstall bluetooth on my macbook pro 17 ?

Hello:
There is nothing to "reinstall."  Bluetooth is hardware.
If the Bluetooth icon has gone missing, reset the SMC.

  • How do I reinstall Leopard on my mac pro from my mac book pro?

How do I reinstall my Snow Leopard os into my mac pro from my mac book pro?  I have the disks, both run on Snow Leopard.  I am have a grey screen problem and nothing has fixed it yet, so I was told to reinstall in from another computer because when I tried to load from disk to mac pro the mac pro would start to load, but then stop at the same place.

Once you get it to work, be sure to download and apply the lastest SL COMBO updater. for 10.6.8 (or any later version). This will ensure that the latest drivers & such for that newer hardware gets installed and the resulting OS can run optimally.

  • How do I reinstall iPhoto onto my Mac Pro G5?

I have a Mac Pro G5 PowerPC system, and I accidently deleted iPhoto from my computer, and now I can't get it back. I can't download anything from the Apple site because I can't run Snow Leopard on this machine, thus not letting me access any of the downloads. I don't know what to do!

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Can I use a bluetooth keyboard on a non-bluetooth enabled (Old)Mac Pro?

Sorry, this seems like something I could easily find an answer to, but I haven't found the answer on the forums or in google searches.
My quad core Mac Pro is not Bluetooth enabled.  I'm assuming I can just use a USB Bluetooth dongle to talk to the keyboard.  I thought I would double check before I start spending money.  I do have a Belkin Bluetooth dongle already, but I've seen some talk about some talk about some other options from the Mac Store.  I'm just hoping to hear what has worked for others.
    Thanks!

  • How to get 10 screens on a Mac Pro

    Hi All:
I'm trying to figure out how to get 10 screens working together like one big desktop on a Mac Pro.
Currently I have a 12core 2010 Mac Pro with 2 ATI 5770 cards driving 6 30" cinema displays.  Each of these cards are double wide.
I want to connect 4 65" LED displays.
Does anyone have an idea how I can do this?  The Mac Pro has only 4 slots.  The two 5770s take up 3 spaces (because of their doulbe wide size).  The last slot has a OWC solidstate drive there.  I guess I could remove that and use just a regular SATA SSD if need be, but would love to get this done with just 3 slots.
So some thoughts. There are two possible ways (ideal, and less ideal) that I can think of:
    IDEAL way:
The ideal would be to find a single wide card that supports 5 or 6 displays, and use that.  I know that some people have had success flashing single wide cards, but it's not clear if all the ports are usable.  See here for an ATI card with 3 ports, single slot, that's been flashed:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Mac-Pro-ATI-Radeon-HD-5770-1GB-Video-Card-Single-S lot-5870-/150928552679?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item23240af2e7
Also, it's not clear if you could get 4 of those cards working to drive all 10 screens.
However, there are single wide 5/6 display cards like this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150566&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junc tion&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10440897&PID=3332167&SID=u00000687
Has any seen or know of a 5 port card like the above that has been flashed to work in a Mac Pro?
    LESS ideal way:
My guess is there are some PCI expansion chasis, and I can just put in 2 more regular ATI 5770s there.  I found this:
    http://www.jmr.com/en/products/14/3-slot-pcie-extender/
    and this
    http://www.magma.com/catalog/classic-pci-expansion
I'm not sure how well these extenders work.
    EVEN LESS ideal way:
Perhaps getting another Mac or PC and somehow VNC'ing in is an option, but this likely would be too laggy to run video from one computer to the other.  The ideal is to just treat the system like one giant screen, but I'm open to hearing any experiences/suggestions on getting this to work.
    Thanks so much!

After reading up on it, it seems that the 6850 supports 3 displays. So perhaps I could do one 6870 (4 displays) in slot one, and then 2 single slot 6850's or 5770's in slots 2 and 3. This would give 10 displays.
    I have 3 questions then:
    (1) What is the quietest 6870 card people have successfully used in a Mac Pro?
    (2) What is quietest single slot 6850 or 5770 card successfully used in a Mac Pro?
    (3) Has anyone gotten thiis 5770 single slot card to work on a Mac Pro, and have they gotten 5 display ports to work?

  • Full backup ( ~ 1 TB ) using external HD - speed USB vs. Firewire vs. eSATA  - what are relative speeds - how to install eSATA on mid-2010 Mac Pro desktop ( dual hex-core processors)_

        Hi All,
I'm trying to resume regular scheduled Full backup ( ~ 1 TB ) of drives using external HD (to allow off-site redundant backup storage) .
What are relative speeds of USB vs. Firewire vs. eSATA ?
I suspect eSATA connection may be considerably faster … how to install eSATA on mid-2010 Mac Pro desktop ( dual hex-core processors)?
( The quicker and easier backup protocol is, the more likely one is to use it to backup on a routine repetitive basis.)
    Thanks

Adding a USB 3.0+eSATA PCIe card, which The hatter mentions, is the best solution that I've found. See http://eshop.macsales.com/item/CalDigit/FASTA6GU3/. The card is not cheap, but the USB 3.0 works flawlessly (which can't be assumed; ask me how I know) and the eSATA connection allows booting from the connected drive. Grant Bennet-Alder's point about HD speed is important to consider; in addition, the size of the individual files being backed up and where on the backup disk they're going will affect overall transfer speed. For example, using the USB 3.0 connection on that CalDigit card going to a Toshiba 3TB external, the transfer rate for a big file (say a virtual machine file) from an internal SSD boot drive was about 145 MB/sec while a bunch of little files might drop to 30 MB/sec and both rates decrease as an inner partition on the external is used. All told, a nearly 700 GB backup took under 1.5 hours. Using a HD as the source added almost an extra hour, though a WD external was used for that. Using a WD green drive plugged into this http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/FWU3ES2HDK/ with an eSATA connection took about 2.5 hours also, but that was bootable whereas the USB 3.0 connection is not.
Another point to consider is that USB 3.0 is ubiquitous on PC's now so there's lots of price competition for externals; not so much for eSATA externals.

How to use a webcam on a mac pro?

    Generally, plug it in.
The OS should notice most major webcams, although you might need to install some software from the vendor to make it work. You'll need to check specific make/models for compatibility.
Once it's connected it should be available in any application that supports video input.

How do I access Java on my Mac Pro so that I can make sure it's working so that we can view "watch instantly" on Netflix?

    There are various browser scripts
1: Java (not needed much at all and highly advised to be turned off in Safari/Firefox preferences due to it's vulnerability)
2: Javascript (if off, needs to be turned on in Safari/Firefox preferences as it's used A LOT)
Note:  If your using a NoScript type blocker, then you need to whitelist the site. Or drag a Temp Allow All button to Firefox's Toolbar.
3: Silverlight plug-in (needed for watching Netflix content, it's from Microsoft)
4: Flash (needed for watching a lot of web based content, but requires constant checks to make sure it's current as they have a lot of security issues)
Check your status here, works on all web browsers

First, did you use Setup or Migration Assistant? That can happen when coming from a PowerMac or sometimes even from another (Intel) Mac.
Second, wait for the next version of Final Cut due very soon to ship (may have to wait for the ".1" of course to clean up any early issues.
