How do I reinstall iLife?

I recently wiped my mac and did a clean install of mavericks. This resulted in me loosing iLife, which I thought would accompany the Maverics update as you get it when you buy your mac. My old mac had a disk with it but that disk is incompatable with the rMBP running Mavericks. How can I reinstall it without having to pay for it as I already have owned it through buying my rMBP? It doesnt appear in the purchased section of the App Store.

  • How can I reinstall iLife on my macbook without the CD?

I once had iLife on my macbook, however when I updated to OS X Lion, I couldn't find it anymore. I am currently running version 10.7.3.
I need to reinstall iLife without using the CD and without going to the Apple store as I am no where near one.
P.S: When I search for iLife in the App Store it says I have to pay.
    Please Help!
    Thanks!

Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion
If you reinstall Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
    After installation, start from Lion.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.

  • How do I get iLife back?

I bought a used macbook pro (i5 13") and on the box it says iLife is preinstalled but its not on there now. The guy I bought it from reinstalled the osx (lion) so when I turned it on I had to set it up but I didn't see an option for iLife. How do I reinstall iLife?

If your Mac shipped with Lion installed, then you should be able to download the iLife applications from the App Store without having to buy them.
If it shipped with an older version of the Mac OS, then you have an unlicensed copy, which you'll have to replace with a licensed copy. You should have received the original installation discs from the seller. If not, you'll have to order them from Apple customer service. Install the original software (including the bundled version of iLife), then upgrade to Lion if you wish.

  • HT1338 How to Reinstall ilife apps and ICal from Original disc...

My hard drive crashed. With my new hard drive, I somehow no longer have Calendar (iCal), Pages, Numbers or Keynote. I have my original discs from getting my computer July of 2011. How do I reinstall the apps I've lost? I don't want to mess up any other data!
    Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. I unpacked iCal from the CD using Pacifist. However the iCal application still does not work. I get an error message saying the iCal version 3.0.8 does not run with the current version of the operating system (OS X 10.6.8).  I have also tried reinstalling a copy of iCal (version 4.0.4) from a Timemachine backup made a month or so ago - but same problem it won't run and the error message says its the wrong version for my operating system.  Worse still iMail has stopped working as well and offers up a similar error message (iMail version doesn't work with this version of the OS).  This is baffling because the entire operating system and bundled applications were re-installed in January this year by a Mac dealer when the hard drive was replaced.  The Timemachine backup was done in May when everything worked so it is hard to understand why restoring the same version of iCal does not work now.
Seems Macs are great when they work but impenetrable for the average user when things get out of sync.

  • HT201250 i was trying to manually erase files from my macbook air. at one point, my system preferences disappeared from the dock and i had a pop up message telling me the application was 'incomplete'. I tried to reinstall iLife but i wont work.

I used the small key that comes with the air but it doesn't seem to be doing much. Am i supposed to be reinstalling OS X or iLife? I tried OS X and I didn't see much difference except for the return of my system preferences and safari which had initially disappeared, but I'm still missing the App Store and iPhoto. I can't reinstall iLife either.

Try a few things: 1) restart in safe mode (restart holding the shift key) and this will repair the drive (if need be) and trim/delete cache files. Restart normally.
    2) if you use iPhoto or Aperture launch the program and then empty the trash folder of the program(s).  Launch your Mail program and check out how much is in the Trash and Archive folders. You can delete the really old stuff if there is any.
    3) Download omniDiskSweeper (free) to see what's on your drive. Be careful about deleting anything that isn't in your personal drive space and be very careful about deleting anything in the Library folder.

  • How Do I Reinstall iPhoto after Upgrading to Snow Leopard

hi, I recently did a clean install to Snow Leopard on my macbook Pro. Everything went smoothly other than apparently I need to add the iphoto back on to my mac. I DO have the original discs 1 & 2 that came with my macbook pro. Would someone be so kind as to walk me through how I would reinstall iPhoto, iDVD, etc. I have read some posts that say use disc 1 others say use disc 2..... so I am confused and don't want to do anything incorrectly. THANKS a million.

The programs for iLife are on your system restore DVD, Insert and opt to 'Install Bundled Applications Only.

  • I can no longer open iphoto. It says it is damaged. How do i reinstall iphoto?

I can no longer open iphoto. It says it is damaged. How do I reinstall iphoto?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • How do I reinstall Snow Leopard without the discs?

I need to change my hard drive and reinstall Mac OS X. I can't install Lion obviously because I first need a platform. I got my MacBook from a relative, but she sent it to me with MacBook Pro installation discs. I tried using them, but every time it says, "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer," which I don't know why that'd be. Since I don't have the necessary installation discs, how do I reinstall the OS?

FIrst, you may want to back up your system to an external HD, then restore it when the disk is replaced.  If you use the Restore tab of Disk Utility (see #7 in Using Disk Utility), or the 3rd-party CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper apps, you can start up from the "clone" and restore back to the new disk.
If you use Time Machine for backups, you'll need a Snow Leopard disc to restore them.
But you will probably need a Snow Leopard disc that will boot your Mac sooner or later anyway.
Note that the retail disc only has the default Apple apps; no iLife or iWork apps.
If the Mac came with Snow Leopard, call AppleCare.  They'll send a duplicate set of the original discs (including iLife) for a nominal fee.
If the Mac came with Leopard, and iLife wasn't upgraded, get the original Leopard disks (with iLife) and a retail Snow Leopard disc.

  • How do I reinstall iPhoto 08 if I got the upgrade based on purchase date?

Based on the purchase date of my macbook pro I got the update from iLife 06 to iLife 08 for free. All was fine, until I upgraded to Leopard via archive and install. Now I need to reinstall iLife (iPhoto seems fine, but iMovie is complaining about missing components) but since I only have disks for 06 (System Restore) I'm not sure how to go about updating again to 08.
Is there some link, or will Software Update automatically figure it out based on some Apple VooDoo?
Or can I get new disks from an Apple store if I show them my receipt with purchase date on it?
    Thanks!

Hah, reply to myself. Looking back at the receipt, apparently I ordered on Aug 9 and it shipped Aug 11. So the system ended up with the 'new build' on it from the beginning because of the timing between order and ship.
That's why I couldn't remember how I got the upgrade - I was concerned about whether or not I'd have to do the $10 upgrade "uptodate" program, but the lag worked in my favor and the new version was bundled.
I just re-installed iMovie and its version 7.0 (which is correct for iLife 08, less some subsequent updates).
Move along, nothing to see here....

  • Curent version of OS 10.6.8 is running very slow. After formating, how do i reinstall this version as it was upgraded online hence no dvd available.

curent version of OS 10.6.8 is running very slow.
Two actions i can think of-
    1. upgrade to lion, which should over write previous software and the reasons for it being slow.
    2. Format the hard disc and reinstall snow leopard. Now how do i reinstall snow leopard as it was an online purchased upgrade from leopard.
what is the better aproach- lion or reinstalling snow leopard if that is possible.

    munish khanna wrote:

No, you don't want to upgrade over a buggy system, Lion has issues of it's own that will only complicate matters, plus Lion is slower than Snow Leopard.
Learn all the pitfalls before you upgrade to Lion, like all your Rosetta/older programs will no longer work and more.
Leave Lion for a new hardware purchase is my advice, it's still got plenty of security and other issues.
For your performance, your likely better off replacing the hard drive with a 7,200 RPM model and maxing the RAM, download the free MacTracker to find out your specs, and OtherWorld Computing is good for videos, tools and parts.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
    2. Format the hard disc and reinstall snow leopard.
That will work, provided your data is off the machine first.
Now how do i reinstall snow leopard as it was an online purchased upgrade from leopard.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard disk that you upgraded 10.5 Leopard from actually has the full OS X 10.6 on it.
All you have to do is stick the disk in and hold the c key down while booting, use Disk Utility to erase the entire drive, quit and install 10.6.
Of course your not going to get the free iLife that came with the 10.5 grey disks, see if you can first install 10.5 with the same methods, then setup with the same user name as before, then upgrade to 10.6
I think Apple nulled booting off the 10.5 disks, but it won't hurt to try.
Another method would be to install 10.6 fresh by itself, then use the program called Pacifist to extract iLife from the 10.5 disks.

iPhoto has somehow uninstalled itself, or I've done something wrong. If I try to open iPhoto, it gives me this message: "You can't open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete". I have an iMac OS X. How do I reinstall iPhoto please?

What is your iPhoto version and how did you install it originally?
If it came with a new mac and Lion or Mt. Lion installed, you can delete iPhoto from the Applications folder (don't empty the Trash) and download it again from the "Purchased" tab of the App Store.
If you have bought the iLife CD, reinstall iPhoto from the installation media, after deleting it from the Application folder.
Or if your Mac came with an older MacOS X, but iLIfe preinstalled, use the system Install CDs,  see Terence Devlin's post here:  Re: My iPhoto isn't working. Error message says "you can't open the app "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete.
    Regards
    Léonie
P.S: This may not only be a problem of a broken iPhoto. What did you do, directly before this happened? Did you run a program, that will clean the Mac to save space, like "Clean My Mac" or "Mac Keeper"? These little helpers can be risky and overdo it and remove too much. Then it might be safer to reinstall your system, because other essential files might be missing now.

Either redownload it from the Mac App Store or reinstall it from your iLife DVD or if it came pre-installed you can reinstall from the original discs that came with the computer.
