How do I reinstall JUST Bonjour without either erasing or archiving?

I accidentally deleted Bonjour which was never an issue until recently when I got a wireless printer. Now I want to install JUST that from the Leopard boot disc but don't want to change any other dang thing on my system. I don't want an archive folder built to hold all my current stuff (which would then be non-bootable), I don't want to erase anything on my system, I just want to reinstall one friggin' little program.
There are no instructions anywhere I can find that tell me how to do that. The only 2 options on the disk are erase or archive and install. I know I can get to a "customized install" at some point if I follow one of those paths, but like I said, I don't want to mess up anything else on my system by giving the computer "permission" to either erase anything or archive anything. And of course there's no way to download JUST Bonjour from the apple site. I tried looking in the "optional install" part of the install disk in the applications section, but they don't list bonjour there, so I don't know where Leopard has buried it. Sigh.

The Installer application can show you all the files an installer package contains: When Installer is running, under the "File" menu, choose "Show Files" or press command + i. (Pacifist has a similar feature.) However, Installer does not allow you to install only specific files, & for good reason:
If you use its "Show Files" option on some installer package, note that even a simple one consists of many different files. Do this with a few different packages & you will see that there is often considerable overlap in the OS components (resources, frameworks, etc.) that are installed by different packages. An install package does not simply just replace one set of OS components with the ones it contains -- that could cause some other process that relies on the same OS component to fail because the replacement would not contain support for it. Instead, the Installer does various "preflight" & other steps to integrate support for all affected processes into the components that eventually are installed & to create or update any support files (for instance, presences) as required.
This is why you should not, unless you know exactly what component needs to be replaced & all the consequences of doing so, use Pacifist to replace just one or some set of OS component files from an installer package. Basically, you are assuming all the checks & other steps that Installer does are not necessary.
Occasionally, this is a safe assumption; more often it is not. This is why the only safe & simple option is an Archive & Install of the entire OS & its updates if you have imprudently removed some OS files (& why Apple doesn't make that easy to do in the first place).
Perhaps if you could tell us exactly which files you removed, we could provide more specific help, but otherwise I suggest you bite the bullet & reinstall the OS.

Just reinstall. Unless something's seriously wrong with your computer, you won't lose any content or settings. Of course it's always wise to have a backup before you make any changes to your computer.
Might I ask what problem you're experiencing that you think will be corrected by reinstalling iTunes?

The main file that holds the itunes database is this one:
C:\Users\Test\Music\iTunes\iTines Library.itl
I always make a backup copy of that before I upgrade itunes or reinstall. The installtion is not supposed to damage that file but things happen sometimes.

Somehow I trashed all my application folders from my PowerBook 1.5ghz with a 80 g HD.
And yes I emptied the trash. It was just all the contents from the application folder.
Nothing worse than clicking on all of your Dock items and getting ? over the icon.
The computer works on its operating system Tiger 10.4.2 now.
Computer came with the original Panther Software pre installed but the computer came from Apple, packaged with Tiger 10.4 upgrade, which I installed.
I have tried reinstalling Applications from the original OEM Software and restore disk from both Panther and Tiger and did not have any luck.
I tried just installing the Applications only and not the operating system.
Besides reinstalling all the Application programs that I have; if that works.
I may have to consider doing a clean install ?
As you know, it's about how much TIME one of these solutions or yours, will take.
I also want a clean running laptop !
So there is the issue of a clean install with all the time with the online updates, etc., etc., ...
Versus being able to reinstall just the Application Files Only.
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I had Mountain Lion on my macbook pro and I wanted to reinstall it. So I formated the hard drive and tried to use "Reinstall OS X" from restore hd. I only forgot one thing, this version of system was bought by my friend and with his Apple ID. I had bought 10.6 I thing but there is no way to downgrade. How can I solve this? I don´t know anybody else with mac and I don´t have any contact on that friend. I don´t have Time Machine backup.

You can't reinstall Mountain Lion without knowing your friend's Apple ID and password. In other words, you had been using an illegal copy of ML. You need to purchase your own. It's only $20. Apple will not help you reinstall ML from another user's account.
Since you do own Snow Leopard, you have to do a two step reinstall to get back to Mountain Lion.
1) Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and boot to it by restarting and holding down the Option key. Once the screen to choose a startup disk appears, choose the DVD and install Snow Leopard onto the hard drive.
2) Once the install is complete, your Mac will be 10.6.3 at the newest since that was the last version released on disk. You must then download and install the 10.6.8 Combo Update to get the App Store installed.
3) Launch the App Store and login with your Apple ID and password, which is the same one you use to login to these forums. Purchase Mountain Lion. It will download and automatically launch the installation. With a legal copy under your Apple ID, you will always be able to get it again in the future without paying for it again.

I recently upgraded the internal disc in my MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I had a 320GB and put it a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB. I didn't have the install disc and used the restore option in disk utility to copy files to the new drive before inserting it. It now works, but it's slow to load-up. How do I reinstall my OS, to optimise it? I've lost my original install disc and have since upgraded to Lion 10.7.4
BTW - my new drive also has some strange noises and I'd like to replace this with a new one ASAP. Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Check that you have the Lion Recovery disk on the your Western Scorpio. To do so, just restart the computer holding down the OPTION key.
After a short while you should see the available boot disks. If the Recovery disk is present you will see something called Recovery HD.
Click on it, and choose 'Reinstall Lion' from the window that (eventually) pops up.
To swap the OS to another HD, use a utility like Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the volumes on the current internal disk to another disk. Swap your drives over, and clone back to the new internal HD that you put in.
EDIT: yup, I agree with Shootist about Western drives. Seen many bad reports about them.

Since I don't have the necessary installation discs, how do I reinstall the OS?

FIrst, you may want to back up your system to an external HD, then restore it when the disk is replaced. If you use the Restore tab of Disk Utility (see #7 in Using Disk Utility), or the 3rd-party CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper apps, you can start up from the "clone" and restore back to the new disk.
If you use Time Machine for backups, you'll need a Snow Leopard disc to restore them.
But you will probably need a Snow Leopard disc that will boot your Mac sooner or later anyway.
Note that the retail disc only has the default Apple apps; no iLife or iWork apps.
If the Mac came with Snow Leopard, call AppleCare. They'll send a duplicate set of the original discs (including iLife) for a nominal fee.
If the Mac came with Leopard, and iLife wasn't upgraded, get the original Leopard disks (with iLife) and a retail Snow Leopard disc.

An updater may not be replacing an entire application, so if you need to replace an application then you need to first get it from the installer DVD from which it came originally. Then use the updater to assure that it is the current version. You may not need to use the combo updater if the application hasn't changed any, but you can't know that positively, so use the updater. It cannot harm anything.

I just began using my MacBook Pro running Leopard with an Epson Sylus Photo 2200. I am having trouble printing with it. I made the mistake of using the disc that came with the printer to install print drivers to my Mac. I am unable to print most of the time from most applications. Epson's web support says Leopard has the drivers already built in. Did I over write the drivers when I installed the old ones from the disc? And if so can I reinstall Leopard's Epson drivers without having to reinstall Leopard completely? Thanks in advance for you help.

you are right, I forgot about that. this is definitely easier. to elaborate on john's post. insert the leopard install DVD open it in finder and double-click on optional installs->optional installs.mpkg. follow the instructions. on the screen with the choice of software to install choose printer drivers.

I sent my computer to have the shift key replaced, and the repairers managed to wipe all my drives. I want to reinstall dreamweaver CS4, but when I seem to have lost my CD. I have the serial number on the case. Is there any way I can retrieve the software without the CD? Also, I did install Dreamweaver on my small portable laptop - perhaps there is a way I can transfer that copy back onto my big PC?

That was my point....
Unfortunately you missed the point that regardless of the reason why the computer was sent to facility for repair the repair facility assumes no liability for lost files and you agree to that in writing upon delivering the item to the repair facility.
I believe John's point (not yours) is that the files on the hard drive may have been compromised *before* sending the computer to the repair facility to repair the supposed faulty shift key and now you and OP are trying to blame repair facility for files that may have been lost before the computer was sent to the repair facility. Your point was that is was inexcusable and that OP should consider legal action, not that the files may have been compromised beforehand or that it's unclear of how the files were lost. Perhaps if you were more clear in describing your point the first time then your point would of been more clearly understood. What you're calling a point I call a backpedal in this scenario. Your original post made no point of unclarity of how the hard drive files were lost.

I crashed iCal the other day by adding too much text into the event details field. How do I fix the program, or how do I re-install a fresh version of it? I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.3
I also don't have any boot disks for the operating system (which is what the internet suggested using to re-install iCal off of).
Here is the error message I got:

This doesn't sound like an error with the iCal application but with the data you have in it.
Lion (10.7) does not come on a disk. It is available via download (if you purchased it in the Mac App Store or if your computer came with Lion preinstalled) or as a USB thumbdrive you buy from Apple.
For this issue I would suggest:
Quit iCal
Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard. You will see "Library" in the menu. Click on it.
Click once on the folder called "Calendars" to highlight it.
Go to File > Duplicate (this makes a backup as you can't use iCal currently).
Once the duplication is complete, remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard. You will see "Library" in the menu.
Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists:
1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
3. Launch iCal and test.
