How do I reinstall the free iLife apps to my Macbook Pro?

I have a late 2008 model MacBook Pro 15. I recently had a hard drive failure. After replacing the hard drive I installed OS X Maverick. When I checked my purchased items list on iTunes the iLife apps were not listed. How do I get the free iLife apps reinstated to my iTunes account?

Check also in Updates.
Click on Purchases icon in the tool bar of App Store. Mac App Store- Hiding and unhiding purchases.

How do I reinstall the osx on a second hand macbook pro?

My partner recently purchased the latest release of the Macbook Pro and gave me his old one. The problem is that it is still tied to his info and passwords and I would like to somehow completely wipe the system and reinstall it afresh. I have his password info, but I would rather use my own info as it is now my Macbook. Would i need to buy a program disk or take it to the Apple Genius Bar to get it wiped and reinstalled? I cannot request him to do it for me as we are now both in different countries. Is this something that I can do by myself? And how?
Right now the system it uses is Lion (I think) OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)... he updated it shortly before he gave it to me. The Macbook was purchased sometime in late 2011... if that information is of any use.
My apologies if my question is stupid, but I really wanna get this sorted. Thank you very much for your time.

How do I delete the Amazon Cloud app from my Macbook Pro

I also have the Wondershare Video Editor app that I want to delete. I have tried pressing the 4th button on the top row (the one that looks like a 2 rows of 3 boxes), and long clicking an app and they all shake. But these two apps do not have a x on them and I can't drag them to the trash.

Find the app in your applications folder. Select and then press command + backspace to send to trash. Then press command shift + backspace to empty the trash.

I purchased (from an authorised seller - Dixons Duty Free, Heathrow) and activated an iPod Touch 64GB on 18th October 2013 (prior to the announcement of free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps but after the 1st Sepember 2013 date in their conditions). It had iOS6 preinstalled. I've updated to iOS7. How do I get the free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps? The App Store is trying to charge me for theese.

If your iOS device was activated for the first time after September 1, go to the App Storeon your iPod which should open to Featured. If not, tap on Featured at the lower left of the screen & scroll down to Collections & tap on New to the App Store? then scroll down to Apps Made by Apple & tap. You should now see the iWork & iLife apps as "FREE."

Either use the Apple ID you used when you originally purchased the applications or you will have to purchase them using your Apple ID. If you did not have the other Apple ID, then you have the applications illegally or they were improperly included with a computer you purchased from someone else.

Enable iCloud on both, and Calendars on the iPhone should sync with iCal on the Mac wirelessly.

I have MacBook Air 13.3 Mid 2008, suddenly the Apple Store App stopped working properly. It could lunch and display apps in apple store and even accept purchase and installation process but never succeeded. It would kept on loading until I quit it! So I thought if I uninstall and run software update it will come up again, but unfortunately it didn't show up. I have been told to reinstall the system by holding down "Command + R" keys upon restart. I did that severally but it pops up login window instead of the menu list for installation guide.
Any idea will be appreciated.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have recently installed the latest version of GarageBand on my recently purchased MacBook Pro 13" Retina. After discovering two GarageBand icons in the Launchpad, I removed the older version, only to discover that the app was also automatically erased from the drive instead of being moved to Trash. I now need the older GarageBand 6.0.5 as the newer version 10.0.1 lacks certain essential features that the older one had. However, due to the lack of a restore from Trash option (due to the unexpected automatic erase once removed from Launchpad) as well as a complete lack of installation DVDs in the newer MacBook Pros, how do I reinstall GarageBand 6.0.5?

That is what deleting from the Launchpad is supposed to do - removing the icon and uninstalling the app. It follows the model of the IOS home screen, where you can browse and remove apps installed on the iPad or iPhone.
if you want to clean up your launchpad without uninstalling applications, create a folder in the launchpad by dragging the icons on top of each other. I have one folder apps that I have never used, but do not want to delete.

Have you a Time Machine backup of your system, that goes back in time before the time you deleted GarageBand '11? I have seen some posts of forum members, who downgraded the system back to MacOS 10.8.5, but even that did not make GB 6.0.5 appear at the AppStore again.

How can I sync the contacts from outlook on my macbook pro with my iPhone

My iPhone 5 is backing up on iCloud and my music, etc is syncing through iTunes (11.4) on my MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 but my calendar and contacts from Outlook 2011 are not syncing. Does anyone know which settings I may need to change? I have updated my operating system to OS X 10.9.4 and iTunes.

You'll need to find a way to export your Outlook contacts and calendar to Apple's Contacts and Calendar applications. There are some paid software apps that can do this but I don't know of any free way other than exporting each event/contact individually. Outlook 2011, when it first came out, synced well with iCal and Address Book (or whatever it was called) but that's no longer the case... maybe when Office for Mac 2014 comes out?

How do I get the sound to work on my macbook pro?

All of a sudden the sound has stopped working on my macbook pro. It only works when I plug in speakers or headphones. I've been into system preferences and nothing worked. The sound icon at the top right of my screen is greyed out... anyone help with how to get it working again?

System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Make sure Mute is not enabled.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
