How do i remove a banking trojan (Tinba)?

My computer (macbook air OSX 10.8.3) seems to be infected. Yesterday I tried to access a website, was told that my IP was blacklisted, and through another website (CBL) was told that “this IP address is infected with, or is NATting for a machine infected with Tinba”. I was also given the name of the control domain for this connection as well as other details concerning the attack. I also contacted my bank, and they confirm that some suspicious activity is going on. I also ran a scan of my HD with ClamXav, but it didn’t find anything.
Problem: I’m not very experienced with computers, and there is no one around me to help me sort the issue. Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this? Thank you!

Thanks for your help! I don’t have Windows running on my mac (and no PC at home), and my airport utility doesn’t show anything wrong.
Are you certain that none of your neighbors have joined your network? If you aren't using a strong WPA2 password to join your network, almost anybody could be sharing it with you if they are within range.
Could the problem come from an IP address changing program that I’m using?
What would that be and is it something you must use for some reason? Is it your actual or changed IP that's being blocked?
Is there any way to have a complete check to see if I still have a problem?
I believe you have already done that if you scanned your entire hard drive with ClamXav.
Do I need to download the sophos anti-virus for Mac home edition to do that?
Since there are is no currently known malware that could act this way, probably not, but second opinions never hurt and Thomas Reed's testing would indicate that it detects a greater number of his OS X samples than ClamXav, but personally I think you will have to look elsewhere.
Have you discussed any of this with your ISP?  They usually discover things like this before anybody else.

  • How do I remove Trojan horse OSX/FakeAlert.B codecm_uploader from my macbook?

How do I remove Trojan horse OSX/FakeAlert.B codecm_uploader from my macbook? My AVG AntiVirus keep putting up a pop up window to say that it's blocked the threat from spreading and I've to consider deleting the infected file. When I search for the file, I can't find it.  It pops up literally every 30secs!

First, you need to get rid of AVG. It may have alerted you to this, but in general it's not much good on the Mac.
Second, that indicates that you are infected with the FkCodec, aka Codec-M, adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for instructions on removing it. Be aware that AVG might interfere with your attempts to remove it, thinking that it is protecting you.

I think the McAfee suite will do the trick when I pay them a one-time fee of $69 or $179 for a year for unlimited support.
Your call of course but IMO a waste of money. Please read this first:
There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac has NOT been infected by a virus, it may have another security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.
You may find this User Tip on Viruses, Trojan Detection and Removal, as well as general Internet Security and Privacy, useful:

The User Tip (which you are welcome to print out and retain for future reference) seeks to offer guidance on the main security threats and how to avoid them.

You have to change it using iTunes on your computer, as explained here: Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID) - Apple Support.  (This article: iCloud: View or change your iCloud payment information no longer works with iOS 8 or Yosemite.)

How do I remove malware from my iMac?

you can do a Google search for "anti-virus" and "mac" and see what you come up with. I think Norton now makes a program for mac with anti-trogan and anti-rootkit detection, and hopefully it'll get better with more time and more complaints
As laverne's mom said, Norton's should never be installed on any Mac - period. I would not let it within 10 feet of my machines. It creates so many problems, it should be considered malware.  If you must install AV software, try ClamXAV; it is free. However, there are no viruses for Mac; the current problem is a trojan and if due diligence is observed, there is no problem.

  • HT1918 Hi, I have registered at apple site, and i have submitted the credit card information, they deducted some ammount without my permission, why they did that? how can i remove my credit card details from that site or deactivate my account?

Hi, I have registered at apple site, and i have submitted the credit card information, they deducted some ammount without my permission, why they did that? how can i remove my credit card details from that site or deactivate my account?

    From that HT3702 page :
If you update your billing information, the iTunes Store or Mac App Store will place an authorization hold on your payment card account, usually in the amount of 1 USD or the local currency equivalent, to verify your account information.
You might see authorization requests on your online statement. These requests aren't actual charges; they are tests to confirm that your payment card account is active and has available funds to accommodate transactions. Authorization holds are removed by your financial institution shortly after your purchase clears. The time it takes to remove authorization requests varies by financial institution.
The number of days that it takes to diappear varies by bank, but it's usually a few days - though with the weekend coming up it might take an extra day or two

  • HT1918 How do I remove my credit card details from my Apple Account?

How do I remove my credit card details from my Apple Account?  I do not like the fact that Apple does not provide a clear and simple option to 'Delete a payment card', I definitely do not think this is legal.
I ask this question because I recently received a spam-like message from Apple asking me to log in and update my account.  I went in and did that, but I would like to remove credit card details from the account and it is horribly stubborn about holding onto my credit card details.

    Hi there
Thankyou for the latter responses from ssschmidt and limnos - as it happens I figured this out by myself.  Yes, it appears that Apple will not let you delete an account UNTIL YOU HAVE VALIDATED THE CARD DETAILS.  That it, until you have given them all of your credit card details - even down to the 3 digit validation number.  Only once you have provided this information does the 'Payment type - NONE' appear.
I figure however, that you can just put any 3 digits in, ie, it doesn't need to be your actual 3 pin code, for the system to let you pass to the NONE option.
As I said before, I still think this ***** the big one.  Apple should not be insisting on getting customers' bank details in this way - especially since there are these PHISHING emails floating around which look extremely like official Apple communications.  It was the receipt of one such email that alerted me to this issue in the first place - thanks Limnos, I didn't respond :-)
This is the first time I've used this 'user to user' set up for a query like this, and I totally think it's ridiculous. This information should be readily available from Apple - no wonder their profit levels are so astromical!
    Happy Mondays y'all!

  • How do I remove my card details from payment and make it none again

need to find out how to remove my bank card from payment info and make it none again

On a Mac or PC, iTunes>Store>click your name in the toolbar and select 'Account Info' (in older iTunes click 'Account' in the links on the right). Presumably the iOS version is similar.
Sign in. Click 'Edit' to the right of 'Payment information. You will see various credit card types listed, plus there should be a 'None' button. Click that then 'Done' at the bottom right.
There have been reports that some people have been unable to carry this out. In that case probably only Support can help you. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click 'See all products and services', then ' 'iTunes', and then 'iTunes Store', then 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption', then 'iTunes Store account billing'.

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, AdwareMedic, or Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
