How do I remove a person in photoshop?

Ok.  So for about an hour now, I have read previous questions and watched videos, but nothing seems to be helping.
I have Adobe Cloud so I have the latest version of PS and am using windows 8.1.  I have a prom photo that I am trying to edit.  There is a person standing behind my dd friends and her head looks like its sitting on a shoulder (you cannot see her body). There is also a picture behind her head on the wall (that can be removed too if needed).   I want to edit her out of the photo.  Ive tried and tried, but when I remove her, its turning red in the spot where she was (and now understand why, but I cant get it to fill in with the photo frame or wall color.
Ive done layers, Ive duplicated the photo in a layer, I've used the lasso tool and the magnetic tool and other tools, ive done that fill thing where they say its as easy as pie and PS will fill in the background for you automatically (cant get that to work).  Im getting reallly frustrated and getting a head ache.  I have to get the photo somewhere today!  Ive seen ppl use the rectangle tool to surround am image and erase the image.
I cant get any of these things to work.  Please help.
Tina

Ok. I will watch them again.  I guess there's not any that's going to show me how to complete my project from beginning to end.  It seems like these are showing you how to cut someone out, but not exactly what I need to be doing next.  I guess I also dont understand the purpose of moving my girls out of a photo and placing them on a differnet background, then filling in the background around them?  I understand the points they are teaching, but not my end result.  I ve also tried a few of these things and I cannot get them to work for me.  But I guess Im going to continue on.  Thank you!

You could probably use the 8 point garbage matte in this situation. I personally think the 8-point garbage matte is a bit cumbersome, but it should get the job done.
    1. Use the Razor Blade tool to place a cut before and after the shot with the bottle.
    2. Select the bottle clip.
    3. Press and hold Shift + Option, then drag the bottle clip up one track. This should create a duplicate clip directly above your original clip. (I'll refer to this duplicated clip as bottle2.)
    4. Locate the 8-point Garbage Matte filter and apply it to bottle2.
    5. Locate the Gaussian Blur filter and apply it to bottle2.
    6. Control click bottle1, and uncheck the "Clip Enable" setting from the shortcut menu. This will disable that clip.
    7. Double click bottle2 to load it into the Viewer. Then select the Filter tab.
    8. For the Garbage Matte filter, you'll notice 8 rows of numbers, these are the current locations for the control points, which you should be able to see in the Canvas. Start with point #1, and click the "+" button in the filters area, then in the Canvas click and drag to move the point. When you release the mouse button, you'll need to reclick the "+" button in the filters tab. Repeat these steps until you've isolated the bottle.
    9. Feather the edge of the matte.
    10. Adjust the Blur amount.
    11. Reenable bottle1. Playback the clip and make any necessary adjustments.
Depending on your experience with Motion, you might also want to try sending bottle1 to Motion, then use Motion to control the layering.

How do you remove a person from a photo and repalce her with another person.

There are many tool and "tricks" to accomplish this manipulation. However, depending on the image one technique might be more appropriate than an other. And then there is the question of how to do it "skillfully". For example, the shadows in the person that is being substituted might be different than in the original image creating the obviously "photoshopped" look.
Doing an Internet search on your posting title brings up lots of examples.

How can I remove a person's face from a photo and then replace the spot with a person's face from another photo?

In Editor, go to the expert tab.
Open picture B, the one you wish to select the "replacement" face from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the face. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position the face from picture B to cover the face on A
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and face B on a separate layer

  • How do you remove all personal info from a notebook when getting it ready for the recycle program?

I havae purchased a new notebook and am getting my old MacBook Pro ready to submit to the recycle program at Apple. The list of "to-do's" asks that you remove all your personal info and take the notebook back to it's original settings. Does ayone have any advise on how to do this?

Boot from the original OS installer disk and do an Erase & Install.
When the Mac reboots into Mac Setup Assistant you quit and shut it down.
It's now a brand new Mac... just like when you got it.

This is a quirk with the Elements editor and lion's feature for reopening saved windows. If you go to system prefs>general and turn off Restore Windows when quitting and reopening apps it will stop happening. See this thread for more:

  • How do I remove older versions of Photoshop?

Tried the recommended method for Windows PC's.  However, I keep getting "Error 1316. The specified account already exists."  I am currently running Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements 13.  I also have versions 8, 10, 11, and 12 on my computer.  I would like to remove these older version.  Suggestions?

I tend to keep all versions installed as they are each stand-alone applications and removal doesn’t save much disk space although if you are running short of space all those versions will add up. If you are happy with the way PSE13 is running try this:
Run MS Fixit and then try uninstalling again from the Windows control panel.
    http://support2.microsoft.com/fixit/
If that doesn’t work, and you feel competent navigating system files, it’s possible to uninstall manually.

  • How do I remove a person's age from birthday calendar

With the update to Lion, iCal seems to compute a person's age from the date entered the Address Book.  I want to remove this and just show the person's name in iCal.

I tried deleting the year in Address Book, and it would ALWAYS come back. As if iCloud insisted on correcting me.
SO, I tried making the change via the Address Book WEB interface at iCloud.com -- and it worked. Still, it's annoying -- and a bit worrysome -- that edits I'm making on my computer or iPhone aren't being integrated into the Cloud. Isn't that the whole point??

  • How do I remove my personal info from my Mac Mini (selling)...

... I contacted AppleCare who advised me to erase the HDD (by starting-up holding Command-R), which I did.
The Mini then went to the internet to download a fresh copy of the OS - trouble is I'm on a REALLY slow connection (512kbps) and it estimated 70+ hours and it's apparently 3.5GB +, which is also way out of my allowance.
I contacted AppleCare again who pointed me to my local Apple Store, who couldn't get rid of me fast enough.  They ended up giving me a USB drive with a Copy of OS/X Lion, which when I got home found out didn't work....  it turns out that the current Mac Minis won't allow an install this way. I called the store, and received no response.
Is there any way I can 'clean out' my personal details without going through a full re-install???
    Thanks!

    @ bootloader:
    Worked! - nice one!
I had already manually deleted all my old data (and done an Erase Free Space), so this has done the trick - it's nice, easy ideas like this that sometimes work the best!  When deleting the User Account, there's an option for Safe Erasure which I guess writes zeroes.

  • Selling MBP - how do I remove all personal info but leave apps?

    Sorry for the newbie question.
I just bought a new MBP and sold my old one. I want to leave the installed apps on my old MBP (running 10.5.7) but make sure that all of my personal info, data, etc. is gone.
I'm not familiar enough with accounts on a Mac (I've never gone through the process of deleting one) but will the following accomplish what I want to do?:
    1) Create a new user account for the new owner. Make that account an Administrator.
    2) Reboot and log in as the new user.
    3) Delete my current/old user account.
    4) Start Disk Utility and use the "Erase Free Space" function.
So I guess my biggest question is in #3 above. When I delete my current/old user account, what does it wipe out and what does it leave behind?
I know my other option is to wipe the whole thing out and install from the OS X CD's that came with the MBP and then re-instal all the software but I'd rather not have to go to that extreme if possible.

The very best way to do this is to do a complete Erase and Install with the original system disc. You can do any additional erasing before that.
What about the apps? Provide the seller with the original discs of those too, and let them reinstall them. Note that with some companies you will want to fill out a Transfer of License so that legal ownership and rights to future upgrade discounts are transferred to the new owner and don't remain with you, because that would screw the new owner if they tried to get an upgrade and they couldn't because it was still registered to you.
I would not sell a machine that hasn't been completely wiped. I want all traces of me off that thing. And that includes any confusion as to the legal ownership of the apps you are selling with the machine.
