How do I remove a shadow in Illustrator CS4?

I need to take a shadow off a vector graphic in Illustrator CS4, is there a way of doing this?

First try this. Select the small circular art on the left side and delete it. If you cannot use the lasso tool to just select that then use the layers panel to select the art and the delete it.
Once deleted select your art and see if it reads in the Appearance panel as a group and if the groups has the effect applied to it.
if so delete the drop shadow effect.
If not open the layers and elect the layer the art is one go back the appearance panle to see if it now lists the layer as the top item and see if the effect is applied to the layer if so select it and then delete it.
if none of that works then use the direct select tool and select each elemental path, one at a time and delete the drop shadow effect using the appearance panel.
One of these methods will work. Unless the drop shadow is actually a filter and not an effect. In that event use the direct select tool to select the select the shadow on the canvas and then delete it.

Nevermind. Found the answer in nthe side bar under "Re:how can I print the figures (text) in a chart WITHOUT a cast shadow. I had the Font window set too narrow and it did not show the Text Shadow button in the tool bar. Unclicking that worked.

I am trying to take and exported CGM outline from a 3D model and use it to make graphics. I need to take the CGM from UGS Teamcenter into Itedo IsoDaw, and from there make callouts then export out a WebCGM with object names. The final CGM has a size restriction and because of multiple overlapping lines in the source CGM it has exceeded the file size. I need to be able to eliminate the double lines or otherwise reduce the file size DRASTICALLY from what it currently is. I am trying to find a tool in Illustrator that would at least eliminate the duplicate lines and allow me to focus on reducing the detail level in order to hit my target size. If anyone has any ideas on how to reduce these files it would be a HUGE help.

A script maybe. But I think this might have be done manually by selecting the top most art in the document window and the locking al the seected art and then select everything else and hit delete.
I think you can right a script if you can't write scripts then migrate to the Scripting forum perhaps they have one already or will be willing to modify one and or help you to create one.

You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Helo my Illustrator CS4 keeps shutting down everytime I tried to click on the "OPEN" icon on the startup screen which ask what you want to do.
please provide me with a solution, I recently re-installed the entire CS4 suite on my windows 7 for a second time. The first installation most of the applications had just dissappeared.

I did the cleared the entire folder as shown below and still get the same problem...it is terminating when I create a new file and tried to save it

My problem is when using Live Trace it comes out amazing. But this is in Illustrator. When i go and save it as a PDF or TIFF. It has a white line surrounding all the individual vectors.

I already did the Ignore White. I did not use the expand button, which is what the saved image looks like when i do press expand. Thats a No NO!
All my settings are at 300 res. I also rasterized the image too. it still came out the same way.

antialaising issues across adjacent items
general trapping issues
I'm afraid you'll have to do some reading up on all of that and invest some time in manuall cleaning up your documents to fix these problems. Though I honestly don't see the relevance. Your image being quite detailed eitehr way it would be printed using inkjet or classical CMYK processes and beyond the die line for the cutout there would be no need to use any vector data.

This could be a very general question and generally I would answer clone over the shadows or use an adjustment layer. It kind of depends on what effect you want.
Do you have a sample picture we could see? You might get some better answers. If you don't have a place to host the picture you can use the following:
Open your image and select Save For Web (SFW).
Save as a JPG with your longest side between 700-750 pixels. Look in the lower right corner of the SFW screen and you'll see where you can adjust this.
Login to www.pixentral.com and follow the screen instructions. It's free.
When the picture loads, highlight the URL address at the top of your screen, copy it and paste it back in this forum.
