How do I remove a white background from clipart in PowerPoint 2008 for Mac?

I have several clip arts that are in .jpeg and .png format.  These are of somewhat irregular shapes, and are on a white background.  I want to eliminate the white background so that I can use these clip arts on colored backgrounds.  I know that there is a simple way to do this in MS PowerPoint 2008 for Mac, but I've forgotten how.  Can anyone help?  Time is of the essence.  Thanks in advance.  - Mark

I still use Office 2008 but have not encountered that issue. However, as Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:

    Is the logo in a pixel layer surrounded by white?
    You could make it a layer if it isn't already, then use the Layer Style dialog and set the Blend If parameter so that it will make light colors transparent...
    You can composite it into a web page with transparency by saving it as a PNG file, as JJMack has noted.

  • How do I remove the white background from a drawing

    I have Elements 10 and I have scanned in a drawing and need to remove the white background from the drawing.  Can someone please help me with this?

    Double-click the background layer to make it a regular layer.
    Use the magic wand and click in the white (experiment with tolerance level), make sure contiguous is NOT checked.
    Press Delete.

    And replace it with what? transparency? You'll need to work in a format that supports that like png or psd. So you'll need a good editor too.

  • How do I remove the white space from the bottom and side of my document?

    How do I remove the white space from the bottom and side of my document? (I'm not talking about printing, just viewing it on the screen.) There are about 6 inches of white space at the bottom and at the right hand side. I don't like this. On a blank new spreadsheet it's triple that amount of white space.

    The infinite canvas convention doesn't make a lot of sense for Numbers. When I'm viewing a spreadsheet and mistakenly scroll into white, empty space I think, "this is ridiculous - all of my content is fits on one screen. there's nothing over there."
    A (relatively) infinite canvas is logical for Microsft Excel because it's one big table. There are 256(?) columns by default and hundreds of rows on a sheet - there are cells outside what a user is looking at to see. However, when viewing a Numbers spreadsheet with a single 10 column 10 row table that fits on the screen, there's nothing else on it to scroll to.
    Numbers should distinguish between viewing a spreadsheet and editing one. When I'm just viewing, when there's no content outside the window it shouldn't scroll there. This window behavior is beyond annoying for Numbers on my iPad and iPhone.
    (Adding user-defined canvas size setting to my view mode / edit mode thinking would probably be the most complete solution to this now that I think about it.)
    Until now the way scrolling worked in Numbers has defied logic. Actually it still does lol. That said, thank you Yellowbox for providing a clear explanation. Much appreciated.

    How can I remove the white background of an object in CS6

    I went into YouTube as well, and indeed: It didn't remove the white background.
    Then I went into Photoshop and was surprised: It was able to remove the white background by just playing around with the Magic Wand Tool. I also went into other programmes similar to Photoshop and was excited that there were connatural ways to remove the white background. Finally, I went into Illustrator and observed that the clipping path route worked. Even in CS6.
    Not sure why it didn't work for you.

  • How do I remove a green background from a pdf text document?

    I posted this question yesterday and received one reply.  I wanted to respond to the reply, but couldn't find a link or "button" to click on that would enable me to do that, so I'm doing it here.  As I'm new to this site, please advise me where the link is, if there is one.
    Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that PDF was proprietary, with one "owner" and that PDF was PDF, so it didn't matter what program you had on your computer because PDF was universal.  Second, when I googled Nuance pdf, I was directed to this site, specifically the "Create, Edit and Export PDF's" section.  Third, I also have Adobe Acrobat with pdf and a bunch ofother Adobe products on my computer.  So, that brings me back to my original question,  how do I get rid of a green background on a pdf text document, so I don't use up all my ink when I print it.  Thanks for your patience and help.

  • How do I remove a white outline from an image

    I have created a logo in photoshop using text and original drawing. I keep getting a white line around each letter and drawing in dreamweaver. I then saved it as a jpeg and it still comes up with the same problem. In photoshop and/or fireworks it does not show a white line yet in dreamweaver it does no matter what I save it as PSD, EPS, GIF or JPEG. It also shows up in the "show in bowser button" in dreamweaver." As soon as I "save for web" it creates a white border. I also see two white dots at randon points in the image. I have tried numerous times to erase these randon points and border to no avail. I also created my own web buttons and do not have this problem.
    Can you please help we with this? I cannot try it on a live website because I do not have an active site yet. I am new to this and trying to build my own webpage.
    Thank you, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Use the camera icon in the forum to paste your image into a reply.
    It could be artifacts in the native image, open it in Photoshop and hit Ctrl+++++ to zoom in on it.
    Or it may be the default browser borders on linked images.  To remove borders from all linked images add this line of code to your CSS.
    a img {border:none}

    When I paste a JPG file into a document, it includes the white square background. The image is round and I want to get rid of the white corners. How do I either import the image without the background square, or make the white part transparent?

    >How do I either import the image without the background square...
    Can't be done with a JPG.
    >...or make the white part transparent?
    You can use a clipping mask.
    Do you have Photoshop?
    Please tell us your Illustrator and Photoshop versions.

  • How do I remove blank white screen from my ipod touch?

    help! my iPod is stuck on a white screen and holding any button down is not helping. I'm thinking of leaving it overnight and waiting if it is fixed in the morning. Is this a good idea or is there a better method/solution for troubleshooting iPod Touch.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How can i remove the shuffle feature from my nano?

    How can I remove the shuffle feature from my nano?  I apparently "shook" it and now it is on shuffle.  I can go to settings and remove the shake feature but I can't seem to restore my playing options to a generic loop instead of the shuffle.  Help!

    chelseafromco:  I had the same problem and had an awful time before finding a clear explanation of the solution.  Forget the iPod nano 6Gen manual, p. 21; it doesn't tell you how to turn the feature off, just how to turn it on.  Not all of us like randomizing our playlists.  APPLE:  PUT UP AN ARTICLE EXPLAINING SIMPLY HOW TO DO THIS.  Meanwhile, here's what worked for me:
    1.  Go to the "Now Playing" icon and tap the "Play" arrow in the center.
    2.  On the touch screen that comes up (you'll see an eighth-note graphic with the song title superimposed at the top, a Play/Pause button in the middle, and "Reverse" and "Forward" buttons on either side of that), swipe your finger to the left (not to the right).
    3.  This touch screen will have a "Repeat" symbol with two arrows like a snake eating its tail on the left and another symbol on the right that shows two arrows pointing to the right.  This is the "Shuffle" symbol.  Touch the Shuffle symbol so it's white, not blue.  White means that Shuffle is  off.
    4.  To make sure you won't accidentally turn Shuffle on, which you can do by giving the iPod a shake, go to the main Settings icon, cick it and select "Music," then press "Shake to Shuffle" until the button next to it says "Off" (white, not blue).
    Hope this helps.  By the way, in case you were wondering:  The whirling-molecule symbol in the center of the "Now Playing" controls is the Apple "Genius" symbol. This is to remind us that Apple's  manuals are created by people who don't know that customers need  instructions on how to turn things off as well as how to turn them on.

    How do I get a white background with black lines and characters on
    my screen.Contrary to what you might think, the linebIG2.setBackground(Color.white);does not give the buffered image a white background. The API docs
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/awt/Graphics2D.html#setBackground(java.awt.Color)
    say: "Setting the background color in the Graphics2D context only
    affects the subsequent clearRect calls... " So adding a line to your
    if blocks we getif (false) {
        bIG2.setBackground(Color.white);
        bIG2.clearRect(0, 0, buIm.getWidth(), buIm.getHeight());
    if (false) {
        bIG2.setColor(Color.black);
    }Changing the false to true results in a white background (and black
    X and text).
