How do I remove all sound from my original clips?

I've recently bought iMovie and am trying to get some editing done. I'd like to remove all the sound from my original clips and only have the music track I've added as background music, I've watched the tutorials and tried adjustments but alas, nothing seems to work, where am I going wrong?

First you must drag the clips to a project. The event clips will always have the original audio.
In the project, select one of the clips and open the inspector to the Audio tab. Set the volume slider to zero.
You can repeat this for all the clips, or here is a shortcut.
Do the first one, then with it still selected, click EDIT/COPY, then EDIT/SELECT ALL, then EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS.../AUDIO ADJUSTMENTS.

I know that works very well, I just did it on my phone and then synced my music back, I was having a little problem with album artwork. One minute everything was gone, and a few minutes later, I synced everything back.

When I connected my iPhone, it automatically synced right away. I did click on the iPhone button and saw the contents of my iPhone including the Books. When I clicked that 'Books' button. About a week after it came out, I found what was basically the same book for a dollar more. ($7.99 and $8.99) I figured there must be something additional (features) in the $8.99 book. So I bought it too. As far as I could tell though, they were exactly the same. So I decided to hide one of them so they would not both show up in my Library. Anyway, I went to my iTunes/iBooks account and managed the hidden books area. I unhid the Demi book and then it showed up in my iCloud to download on my iPhone. Now they are both on my computer so I need to figure out which one is the other one and hide it. So then I can delete it from my computer just have the one that is on my iPhone on both systems. But at least I found a way to get a copy on my iPhone.

It's easiest to plug it into the computer if you have a lot, and click on the Music tab of the iPhone. Then, either Control-A (Windows) or Command-A (Mac) to select all of the songs then press delete on your keyboard. If you have a few, it is easiest to swipe over the individual songs and press delete.

I have Finder set up to display any attached hard drives (done via Finder Preferences/Sidebar) where the hard drives are listed as devices. The hard drives are listed under "Shared" in the actual Finder sidebar. I selected the network hard drive containing the spare image bundle I want to delete which leads to whatever I named the next level which allows me to connect to/mount the hard drive, which shows the hard drive contents. I select the spare image bundle and select delete.
We may be into a terminology difference problem, which, gee people never have that problem :-)))))
What is confusing me is your use of "shared folder", but I think that may be the place to start if the folder is actually a hard drive. If not, try the devices. Looking at both shouldn't do any harm.
What you are looking for is something with whatever the name of your old computer was which when selected shows "Sparse Disk Image Bundle."
You may need whatever user name and password you had on your old computer to actually connect to/mount the hard drive.

Just wondering ... can you then add other background music ... and not use the audio recorded from the camera at all?
Yes. You can add your own audio either to the background of several clips or "pin" it to a single clip.

If you have not download the iCloud control panel, then you don't have iCloud activated on your computer.
in iTunes if you have media purchased but not downloaded to the computer it will appear with an iCloud button next to it. That will hapen with content you downloaded but subsequently deleted. That just tells you you have access to download it again without having to pay for it again.
There's nothing going up or down or anything.

Probably your best bet is to run your iPhoto library on an external drive
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
