How do I remove an old iPod device from my list of 5 so I can add my new iMac to my iTunes account?

I see that iTunes will only sync 5 devices to my iTunes account. One of my 5 is an old iPod that has not worked for years. How do I delete it so I can add my new iMac to my iTunes account?

iTunes Authorizations are limited to 5 Computers and 10 devices total. If you've already reached the 5 computer threshold, removing the iPod won't do any good. Nevertheless, here's some more info:

Welcome to the Apple community mohinderjeet.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • How do i remove my old Apple Id from iPhone's iCloud setting which does not exist anymore

Purchased new iphone 5s, installed with itunes restoring backup from iphone 4 (which was too old a backup). It restored an old apple id (which i do not use anymore) in the iCloud settings while having my new Apple Id in the Itunes & App Store. I cannot turn off the iCloud setting due to old AppleId popping up - which does not exist.. How do i remove the old Apple Id from icloud setting on the phone.
I cannot erase the phone as it asks for the password for the old Apple Id. And i cannot do the restore again (after i made a recent back up my iphone 4) as itunes asks me to turn off Find my phone.

The Apple ID exists. The email address you used to create it may not, but the Apple ID does. Call AppleCare and ask to speak to someone in account security.

How do I remove an old email address from my apple ID account?

Depending upon the address (some Apple addresses can't be removed) then you may be able to remove it by logging into the account via the 'manage your apple id' link on http://appleid.apple.com

  • I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and I cant figure out how to access it. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sink my ipod with my account. How do I access my library?

I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and only contains "purchased" music. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sinc my ipod with my account. How do I access my entire library? Thanks

Unless you subscribe to Match, you will have to transfer your non-iTunes stuff from your old computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
If you want to copy non-iTunes music off of your iPod (eg, if your old computer doesn't exist), you'll need to use a third party program.  I don't know of any free ones anymore, but if you google, you can find several in the $19 range.

  • My old iPod Photo sync'd with 10.6 but won't with my new iMac running 10.7, I get an error message, am I done?

My old iPod Photo sync'd with 10.6 but won't with my new iMac running 10.7, I get an error message and a message that it could not sync, am I done?

What's the error message say, exactly?  Does the error occur when you sync, or when you just connect it?  Does the iPod appear in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES), or does this error occur before that can happen?
I have an old 4th Gen (color screen) iPod, which should be the same as an "iPod Photo."  It's been sitting idle for a while, but I just connected it to my iMac running Mac OS X 10.7 and iTunes 10.6.1.  I think it's the first time I tried since upgrading to Lion.  It connected and synced fine using USB.

How do I remove and old appleid from an ipod touch 4?

    CHANGE ID
The ID is used in the following locations and you  have to change  them.
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
    Settings>iCloud
    and Settings>iTunes and App store
You  have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sign in with other ID.
    Note:
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
Also, a Restriction can be set (Settings>General>Restrictions) the prevents changing accounts

  • How do I remove an old - unworking computer from my home sharing  account

I recently had a PC expire.   It was on my list of computers that made up my home sharing account.
I need to remove that old computer from that account so that I can add the new computer.
The old computer does not work anymore so I cannot access the account from that computer to turn off home shaing on that computer.
How do I access a list of computers to turn some on or off?

If you're talking about the "authorization" limit (5 computers), then there's no way to remove a single computer without loggin onto it.  You have to go to Store->View AppleID, then click "Deauthorize All" under the account summary.  You'll then have to reuthorize the computers you still want to use.  Note, this can only be done once a year.
If you're talking about the "Association" limit (10 computers+devices), then you can remove it by clicking "Manage Devices" in the "iTunes in the Cloud" panel of the same page.

  • How do i remove my old iphone 4 from my devices in itunes as i have now sold the phone

i have sold my old iphone 4, how do i remove it from my devices in itunes as i am coming close to the maximum of 5 devices on my itunes account on my laptop

    wendyfitz wrote:
I was told in the Apple store I can have a maximum of 5 devices on one itunes account on one pc, i.e 3 iphones and 2 ipads, is this correct?
    No.
There is no setting in iTunes to "remove" any device. Fact is, if you don't turn automatic downloads on, or match, on your devices, you can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account. And, if you do turn on automatic downloads, or match, you can "associate" up to ten devices with your ID.
Read here about removing a device that is "associated" with your ID:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
Bear in mind, that ONLY applies if you turned on automatic downloads or match.

  • How do I remove an old calendar group from my iphone.

This old group seems to be the default for entering events on the iphone. I have a .me account and an old .mac account. My mobile me (.me) is the calendar I use on my computer. I can see that on my iphone, but for some reason, when I create new events on my iphone, it wants to use the .mac account. How do I remove it from my iphone so this won't happen.
Also, the .mac events don't synch with my computer because I only have .me on there. I removed the .mac from the computer a while back. I'm wondering if that was a mistake.

    Tracy,
Try MobileMe: Troubleshooting MobileMe Calendar issues. Use the Troubleshooting iOS devices link.
Also make sure that you have installed the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • How do I remove an old hostname record from the server context?

    Hi there
We have a machine that had changed its hostname, but still has the same IP address.
This machine was being monitored by SunMC, but since the hostname has changed on the agent,
the SunMC server is not collecting data from it.
Throughout the troubleshooting process, I uninstalled/installed the agent on the client (as well as re-seeding, trying just the IP in the domain-config.x file)
I removed the client from the server's topology (delete object/connection from the Edit menu), and created the object again, and I got the error that it could not connect (check agent/port blah blah).
Then I tried creating it as an snmp ping, entering only the IP. When I looked at the details, I saw that it
had taken the OLD hostname for that IP. Right-clicking on the object to make it an agent/host fails with the cannot connect error.
I confirmed that the old hostname is still associated with that IP using this command, after deleting the object:
    es-run agentContext.sh agent <oldhostname> <port>
and, sure enough, there's the old entry.
So...I guess I need some magic command that is going to remove this old agent entry so I can get this
    machine added back in.
There are a lot of critical servers in this domain, so I don't want to risk wiping everything out!
Is there a nice way to do this?
    Thanks!

An apple ID is nothing more than a "User ID"
Actually, it is more than that. If you read the licensing agreements for any OS version or app obtained at the app store, it will become clear: the license for any app or OS obtained at the app store is not transferable. Hence it is tied to your Apple ID and will remain so - it cannot be removed.
You are supposed to remove anything obtained at the app store from the computer before giving/selling it. Your father will also not be able to reinstall the OS if need be.
Which OS version was on the Mac originally? You will need to use internet recovery (Command + Option + R) to erase your drive and then reinstall the original OS (if Lion or later). If it came with an install DVD, boot from that, erase the drive and reinstall. After that, your father can very easily download/update/reinstall any OS or app using his own Apple ID.
