How do I remove border surrounding image?

I am old as dirt and very new to Photoshop CS3. Don't ask me why (I just like to learn), I want to try making animations. I have found several online tutorials and just completed my first animation (a rocket being launched). I am working on another one, but couldn't find the walkman gif used in the tutorial. I Googled and found this image, but don't know how to remove the border surrounding him? Lucie

Click on the animated frames panel to make it active. This is going to be needed.
For frame animation the easiest way is to create a new layer for each frame. So you can copy/paste to the next frame for any repetitive pixels needed.
When you are finished with all of your layers in the animations panel is a small icon in the upper right hand corner.
Click that icon to bring up the menu
Clear all frames
convert layers to frames
Once you see each layer in their perspective frame, you are ready to generate an animated gif.
Before you do make sure repeat frame is not enabled as it will create a funky animation.
To create an animate gif use File>Save For Web
Preview the gif in a browser to verify it is animating correctly.
Once of things that can be repeated on each layer is the color of your background\
To copy a layer to a new layer use ctrl-j on windows or cmd-j on mac.
At any time you can clear the frames do your work on the layer then convert the layers to frames and repeat this process as many times as needed.
If your canvas is not large enough , expand it - Image>Canvas Size

Are you using a Windows or a Mac? What you're seeing (the backwards L shaped menu) is probably the Canon Quick Menu. If you have a Mac you can go into your applications, select Canon Utilities, then drag Canon Quick menu to the trash and empty trash can. On Windows you'd go to the control panel, select Programs and Features (or Uninstall Program/Add or Remove Program) and uninstall the Canon Quick Menu. Not required for all the normal functions of the printer. You can do the same thing for My Image Garden. Also not required.

I don't know if it's myself here Allen, but these look like marks relating to the LCD panel itself.
I've seen this on iBooks which have small marks. They are not dead pixels as such but darken spots cast in a very small line. When I've seen this before it's been due to pen pointers or object witch have been used to point at the screen. Normally people have used these object to touch the screen,which has left these very small marks.
It seem to be common on earlier iBook's and PowerBook, maybe due to the type of LCD panel they use.
I maybe wrong here, but thought it might be worth mentioning.

Hi,
I don't use thumbnails but I went ahead and turned them on.
Perhaps due to the position of the slideshow only a few thumbnails appeared.
I wasn't able to delete the image I wanted removed.
I tried to remove the image from my assets, and that deleted the whole slide show.
( didn't save the changes )

Dashboard flickr image removal. How do I remove a flickr image from the Dashboard?!

I forgot how I managed to creat a little image window with someone's flickr image into my Dashboard, but now I can't get rid of it. The image has no live links only an edit button that allows you to move the image within its box. I tried going to flickr to see if any images had the option of importing them to the Dashboard, but that isn't an option.....how the heck I got it to the Dashboard in the first place I don't remember. Regardless I want the image gone and it doesn't have delete to remove it. Help!

If you really mean Dashboard, that's where your widgets are, in which case you hit the plus key ( + ) in the lower left corner and then click the X on the widget you want to delete. But if you meant the Dock, you click and drag it off and it disappears in a puff of smoke.

How do I remove all duplicate images from my IPad 4? They are clogging up hard drive

I have a lot of images on this iPad from a major journey that i am on. Most are.in albums.. I want to further organise them but many have randomly duplicated. Some several times over. These images have filled up the hard drive as a result. So I cannot continue to organise the images. I have tried to use photomanager pro in order to set up sub folders, but cannot import the media as dive is full. Please can someone advise how to 1. Remove all duplicates and 2. Avoid repetition of this situation.

How to add a border around images posted to Facebook?

I am using LR 4.1, also usis PS CS5.
Anyone who uses Facebook to showcase image galleries knows that Facebook changes how images are displayed from time to time. One month it will be on a black background and the next on a white background. And then they put overlay's on top of your images and they change things around whenever they wish. There is not rock solid consistency from Facebook on how they display your images across devices or over time.
What I am trying to do is to add some consistency to how my images are displayed by adding my own border to my images. I need some ideas on how to best do this. The way that I have been doing it does not appear to be ideal and I think someone must have a better way.
Ideally, I would want Lightroom to add a border for me based on some setting under the export manager. But as far I know there is no setting to do this? (Why doesn't lightroom have any border options anywhere yet for anything it exports? This would be relatively simple I think.)
Here is the only way I know how to solve my issue.
First, my other considerations:
I want to keep my original images in my catalog in tact and as is w/o a border and with layers if it is a .psd file. I do NOT want to destructively add a border to the catalog images, only the images that end up on Facebook. I also want to add my watermark image to the final image so that it is done as the last step so that the bottom part of my watermark shows my web site address over the white border on the bottom of the image. Using a droplet and the watermark in the same step does not work properly because it applies the watermark before it runs the action, not after.
I have created an action to add a x pixel white border by:
Merging (flatten) all layers
Creating a new unlocked background "image" layer
Expanding the canvas by x pixels.
Creating a new white filled layer and moving it to the bottom of the layer's pallet.
Adding a 2 pixel black inside stroke to my image layer and adding a drop shadow.
I created a droplet from this action and put it in the droplet folder for LR.
Now for the repeated steps that I am going through...
Select the images that I want to write to Facebook.
Export these images to a new folder using the droplet.
Import the folder of all of these images back into Lightroom.
Move the new images with borders on them into the correct LR FB publish service.
Publish the photos using the sharpening and watermark settings.
Delete the .psd files created in Step #2
The steps that I would like to avoid are #2, #3, #6
Or maybe I am going about this all wrong? Anybody have any better ideas?

You may find it much easier to use the Migrify plug-in from Tim Armes/Photographers Toolbox which does what you want from within Lr.

How do I remove the "mirror" image on the front camera?

After I take photos on the front camera to say a "selfie" the image is then flipped and saved. I research online and people say it's what the camera sees (like looking into a mirror) and that's how we really look in real life but I can prove this to not be true!! Here is why, I have a beauty mark on my face on the left side and when I take a selfie my iPhone saves it to show it on the right!! And when I look into an actual mirror it's obviously on left where it should be not on the right!! IS THERE a way to remove this on the new iPhone?!? I noticed that all of the selfies I had taken with Instagram were reversed. This was odd to realize; I have had the phone for a month, and when I see a reversed selfie it looks normal to me ... I part my hair on the left, and I didn't notice that all of my avatars for things had my hair parted on the wrong side. I was reviewing some Facebook photos and it was very obvious that some of my pics have my hair parted on the wrong side. It was kind of weird figuring out that the ones that looked right were the wrong ones...
So I played around a bit. With the built in camera app, when I am framing a selfie, it sure would be awkward to try to center yourself in the picture if the image wasn't reversed. I've had devices with front-facing cameras where you could un-reverse the image, and it is quite disorienting to try to center yourself. So I get WHY the image is reversed (one of the reasons at least). I noticed too that when I snap the selfie with the built-in camera app, that the picture un-mirrors as it takes. There is a brief animation as the image flips side-to-side.
For me and my phone/situation, it is when I use Instagram to take pictures from the front-facing camera. Instagram just seems to grab the actual image from the screen, and not do the un-mirroring that the built in photo app uses. So, my solution is to not use the Instagram app to snap the actual selfie, but to use the built in phone app to take it, then afterwards I open the photo in instagram and do my tweaking. Just slightly less than elegant for now, I am hoping that a future Instagram update will give you control on whether to un-mirror the front-facing camera. But I see this as my phone working correctly, and the app itself being the thing that is buggy. In my case.

My images' source are from bitmaps rather than file location. It is programmatically created and assign. Is there a way to add borders to this, probably something like:
image.borderWidth = 3;
I've tried using CSS skinning but have no succes to do so. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think the best way to do that is to extend the Image component and give it some "borders" support.

CSS does the trick -
a img { border:none; }
*and* you don't have to add it to each individual <img>
tag.

Ho do you remove Border on Image Map Links in Safari

Hi,
I am having a problem with Safari 5.1 with an image map. I designed an Image Map for my Website in Fireworks with three hotspots.
When you click on the hotspot in Safari to link to the page a border appears around the hotspot. It doesn't happen in any other browser.
Anyone have an idea how to get around this?

Well I found out! Here yer go! Paste the code in bold in the same area as the example and any Dreamweaver CS5.5 Hot Spots you create, this will get rid of the Blue Border when the links are clicked on in Safari. You would think either Apple or Adobe would sort this? Make life alot easier?

Illustrator CS3 - How can I remove a "linked" image???

I have an illy file that has several "linked" images.
Some of these I wanted to keep and have embedded.
However, I would like to delete two in particular...which the images are no longer available or desired. But I see no way to do this.
I have tried to go to outline mode/wireframe view... and there are no boxes indicating where these images should go...so I can't delete those.
The two images that Illy keeps asking for when I open the file have a red ? to the right of the image names.
How can I permanently get rid of these?

But on the off-chance it doesn't work for someone, what I have done in the past is to make a very small dummy file with the same name -- say a solid block if red -- and link the file to that. Then, Go To Link > Delete will work. It can be slow and painful if there are a lot of missing links, but it works.

How do I remove [date].inprogress image from Time Machine image?

I had a restart on my time machine during the back-up. Since, then all back-ups fail. I think it has to do with the temp file that is created named [backup date and time].inprogress. Regardless, all the files are protected and cannot be deleted. I tried changing permissions, but that is not allowed. All fails.
Any guidance is much appreciated.

Open Time Machine preferences, click on the Options button. At the bottom of the exclusion list click on the Add [-] button, select the drive in the File dialog, click on the Exclude button. Understand that this configuration will only remain as long as the drive remains mounted.
