How do i remove duplicate tunes in itunes please?

Hi,
My iTunes library is showing multiple copies of each song. Is there a routine ort tool available to remove these please?
My library is stored on an external drive.
Any ideas?

I don't know of any thing that will do that. But you can go to the "View" menu and click "Show Duplicate Items" that should make it easier to find and delete the duplicates.

I recently purchased a new window9.1 computer. I tried to move the library to the new pc by using an external haddrive. The songs and other items all transfered, but the mudic remsined on the externalmedia informaiton files, I had to connect the drive to listen to music.. I worked with tech support and copied themusioc files to ITunes. When I reopened the media files and copied music were on the system. ITunes recognzed there was missing information on the media data file and corrected it, so oe I have 20,000 sonfs in a 10,000 song library.How do you delete massive duplicates without individually deleting10,000 songs?

Show duplicates was missing from iTunes 11.0. Upgrade to iTunes 11.0.1 if you haven't already done so. Use Ctrl+B to display the menu bar if needed.
The show duplicates features are now found under View > Show Duplicates Items or, more usefully, Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items. You need to manually select all but one of each group of repeated items to remove. Don't delete from the hard drive unless you know there really are multiple files instead of multiple references to the same file.

This is not what it seems. Long story short - I just bought a new MBA and migrated from a MB with most of my iTunes library on second partition of internal drive. Because that music did not "migrate," I just dragged it to the new computer. iTunes did not see most of the tracks. So, stuck with the possibility of "locating" each track one at a time, I chose to "Add to Library" and this added all the tracks to the iTunes library, but now I have duplicates of every track added. However, both titles point to the same file. I can remove the extra track name by selecting it; hitting delete; and then tell it to "keep files."
Is there a way to automate this so I don't have to go back an trash 6000 track names? TIA.

Grouping podcasts
A podcast series will split up in this way when its feed is moved to a new URL. Merging the series requires editing all the older episodes so that they appear to have come from the current feed. Download and install Mp3Tag (not sure of a Mac equivalent offhand). Use it to explore the Extended tags of podcasts from the same series. PODCASTURL (formerly ITUNESPODCASTURL) is used to link different podcasts from the same subscription (as opposed to fields like Album & Album Artist etc.) and PODCASTID (formerly ITUNESPODCASTID) determines the order. Everything else seems to be optional. Backup your files, tweak a few a tags then highlight the changed files in turn in iTunes with the image pane set to Selected item. This is marginally quicker for small numbers of files than using select, Get Info, OK to get iTunes to refresh its knowledge of the tags. Erm, last I checked the method no longer works anyway. If iTunes still fails to notice the updated tags try my script UpdateTagInfo (Win).
As far as I'm aware the order is determined by the PODCASTID, but if you need/want to modify the Release Date then in MP3Tag/Extended Tags it corresponds to RELEASETIMEin the format yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ, e.g. 2008-02-20T09:10:52Z

Wich version of iPhoto do you have? You need iPhoto '09 or '11 to order prints.
Make an album of all photos you want to order in the same order.
Then select all photos at once, when you use Share > order prints.
You should see a panel like this, where you can mark the quantities. The screenshot is from iPhoto 9.6:

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicates copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning tobackup your library before deduping. If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
