How do I remove iCloud without losing anything from my MacPro?

I have Lion (hate it) and this pushed me to iCloud.
My Address book keeps syncing back to an OLD list which refuses to take corrections, but worse
still is that someone else's email address is in MY slot on iCal when I put in email reminders ! I have
tried everything but nothing will correct or remove my friend's name.
Hate the fact that iCloud has access to all my things (I never wanted it for anything other holding certain
items, but it wants all or none (documents) - I want iCloud OFF and can go back mobileMe for mail.
When I tried to remove iCloud a message asked,  Are you sure you want to delete all items from your Mac?
when I clicked on back to my Mac section, like it was putting it all on the cloud and would erase my computer
help items.  ????  Hate Lion, and iCloud at this point.
Is there a way to remove the iCloud and ensure that my items are  off it, and put back into my Mac?    Or
am I destined to reformat it all and hope that nothing old comes back to haunt my Tower.
Thank you,
Delores

I am expected to copy and paste all of my documents one at at time back to my computer?
Huh? No. Did you actually read the document? It only mentions copy and paste in one part to do with Notes, and you didn't mention having any Notes on iCloud. If you don't have any notes, then no copying and pasting is required.
You asked:
Is there a way to remove the iCloud and ensure that my items are  off it, and put back into my Mac?
That's EXACTLY what I gave you. If it's not good enough, then you find an easier way...

  • My Apple ID needs to be updated on my iphone in icloud. iCloud account information Apple ID is incorrect. How do I update it without losing anything, including my extra storage that I paid for???

I recently updated my Apple ID with a new email address. Now my iCloud account does not match my Apple ID.
On my iphone, when I press Settings> iCloud> Account> iCoud Account Information: Apple ID
The Apple ID is shown as my old email address, and there is no option to press this and change the sign in information. Therefore, I cannot backup my iphone.
I tried to delete iCloud, but the warning said that everything would be deleted from my iphone if I deleted iCloud. I obviously want what is on my iphone or I wouldn't care about iCloud at all. How do I update my Apple ID on my iphone for iCloud without losing anything on my iphone, including the extra storage that I paid for?

If the Account name is wrong in Settings>iCloud you'll have to scroll to the botom and tap Delete Account, then sign back in using the correct ID.

I don't want restore everything on my old phone just my pictures/videos...how do I do that without erasing anything from my new phone?

So, I went to Target and upgraded from a 4 to a 4S and the woman there told me she transferred over all of my info off the old phone (which was not true, I'm missing my videos).  So, I've been using my new 4S for about 7 months now and I don't want to erase the information off of it but on my iCloud I still have listed my iPhone4 with 8gigs of information that I cannot access and it's very frustrating.  You would think I'd be able to look at all the data and get what I want but I can't...or can I?  What are my options?
    THANKS SO MUCH!

  • Installing Maverick on my Mac lost almost all of the calendar entries. They are still on my iPhone and new entries move freely to both devices via iCloud. How do I get the entries from my iPhone to iCloud without losing them from iPhone?

Like many others after I installed Maverick I found that all the calendar history has been lost and most of the forward info has also been lost. Also in order to get calendar, contacts and notes to sync with the iPhone I have had to move to iCloud. Contacts and notes sync fine. new calendar entries sync ok. My iPhone has all the calendar entries that were on the Mac before I installed Maverick. So far iCloud has not overwritten them nor have they synced onto iCloud.
How can I get all the entries from my iPhone onto iCloud, without losing the only copy of my calendar from my iPhone?
Thanks Apple for deciding to take over my privacy. I do not want this data stored on a US based server. Fortunately Mail still syncs via my own email provider. I guess Apple will find a way to stop that soon too!

    Greetings Nefertiti72,
It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. I have linked to a knowledge base article which provides more information about iCloud contacts syncing:
Get help using iCloud Contacts - Apple Support
Learn what to do if you’re having issues using iCloud Contacts. For example, you might make changes to Contacts that don't update across all of your devices.
You may want to consider importing the contacts from the email account you removed. You can do it easily by following the steps in this article:
    iCloud: Import a vCard
You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
    Select a vCard to import.
The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Bobby_D

  • I simply want to know how to turn off iCloud* without losing my contacts

Call me old fashioned, but I really do NOT want to use iCloud EXCEPT for ONE THING*: and that's to find my phone, ipad or laptop if it goes missing.
Having said that, I have figured out how to turn off icloud on my ipad and my iphone (I am not using the phone as a phone, just as a glorified ipod) while keeping the "find my ipad/iphone" function active, BUT
I can't quite figure out how to do it on my laptop.
I seem to have done it already for photos, and for the calendar, (I know this from checking iCloud to see what it's got) but just cannot figure out how to turn it off for contacts.
And YES, I've backed up all of those things at LEAST 3 different ways, I just don't want the Cloud to be one of them.
So can anyone tell me how to turn off contacts in the cloud without it also magically deleting them in my laptop? (I had it happen on the ipad, that's why I'm worried.)
Thank you for understanding-I'm older and this stuff just keeps getting more complicated and I'm a simple person. I'll back up my own stuff!

If you are refering to documents such as Pages and Numbers files....
The only way around this is to "save as" you icloud documents using the associated app to a local folder on your mac.  Then turn off icloud.
Of course, when you sign off of icloud, the docs are removed from the mac, but remain in icloud.  In the future when you sign back in, the documents are available to you again.
Oh, and the icloud documents are also stored locally in ...
    ~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolder where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
You can move these files to another folder to save them.

  • When i try to open iTunes it tells me that 'this copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.' how can i fix this without losing anything?

    please help me
i've tried using the control panel and repairing iTunes but it hasn't worked
    still getting the same results
just in case it helps the control panel says that the version i have currently installed is 11.1.4.62

With that particular message, I'd first try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:
Can you launch your iTunes now?

I somehow have more than one Apple ID on this, but I just want my music and my pictures to stay and I'm terrified of losing these things. The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

You can transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Most other stuff by the third-party programs discussed here:
    Best iPod to PC
However, your app data such as saved games will be lost unless you have a backup file from your old computer.

  • How do I sync to a new Mac without losing anything

My iPhone 4 is snced to my G5. I want to change the sync to my Mac Pro (on which I have a different user name).
How can I achieve this without losing Contacts & Apps? Photos & Music I can add manually, so I'm not overly concerned about those.
Will it work if I copy the ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync folder and the ~/iPhone folder from the old to the new?
    Thanks

The best thing to do is to move all of your important data, including your iTunes library, from your old computer to your new computer. If you don't want to do that, follow the instructions here:
By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from her phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are replacing your computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on her own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, or copy them from your old computer, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes.
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book, iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect her phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding her contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.
