Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
The facts are:
1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
    protection against malware.
5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

You can delete from ipad and just leave movie un-ticked in iTunes, if it is one you have downloaded from iStore then I believe that you can't delete but you can hide, then it's available to download again, but I only use movies from my PC.

Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

    Hello,
how can I remove the application from your iPad at the same time and with the clouds?
I know you press the app icon until it starts shaking, then press the black cross in the upper left corner. This will remove it.
But still I will come in to the store as a bookmark Purchated I see it with the symbol of a cloud. And I would like to remove it for good. Under iOS 5.1.1 somehow I managed to do that (at least hide it). In iOS 6 I can not do that.

The only transition you can add this way is default cross dissolve. If the images are in the timeline, move the playhead to the beginning of the images, select them all, and drag from the timeline to the canvas to overwrite with transition.

    You don't.
To remove a photo from your iPad that is located in a photo album on your computer selected to be transferred to your iPad under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, the only way to remove the photo from your iPad is by removing if from the album on your computer followed by a sync.

  • How do I remove my AppleID from an iPad I no longer own?

Okay, so my husband and I gave his iPad to my mother-in-law as a gift and we kept it associated with MY Apple ID, the problem is that when she turned on iMessaging and Facetime, her iPad checked ALL the phone numbers and Email addresses being used for our 9 other devices on my Apple ID. She lives over 300 miles from me and can't figure out how to add a new email to the list and UNCHECK all our other numbers!! The last thing I need is for her to see EVERY message I get on my phone, especially ones from my husband!!
Is there a way for me to remove her iPad from my Apple ID from my computer?

If you set up "Find My iPad" on it, you can remotely wipe the device and return it to its factory settings, but that will remove all of the apps, pictures and settings and other data on the iPad. I do not think it is possible to log out of an account remotely. I'd walk her through the following steps:
Go to Settings and click on "iTunes & App Store". At the top of the page you should see your Apple ID. Tap that, and then tap "Sign Out" and it should disconnect the iPad from your Apple ID.
I have not tried it myself so I can't be sure, but I think it will work. If not, you can always reset the iPad to factory settings. You can do that by going to your Settings and clicking "General" then "Reset" and tapping "Erase All Content and Settings." Doing this will essentially remove everything and make the iPad as if it were brand new.
Either way, she should create her own Apple ID to use for her own purchases, iCloud syncing, Messages and other Apple ID specific features.

  • I'm syncing pics in LR between my iPad and Mac.  Later, how can I remove the pictures from my iPad and keep it on my LR on my Mac?

I understand the pictures are kept in the Cloud but I want to change my catalog so that it will recognize the pictures only on my Mac.  Then I can clear up space on my iPad.

Even though iCloud can back up some content it is intended more to keep multiple iOS devices synced up rather than being a place to back up your content. The Camera Roll is included in the iPad's Backup however there is no way to access the back up's content without Restoring the iPad. If you wipe the photos from the iPad's Photo Roll the new back up file created will also have them removed.
Photo Stream, also a part of iCloud, is also intended to make your latest photos accessible on your other iOS devices such as iPhones, Apple TVs and Mac computers. It will only hold 1000 of the latest photos and is supposed to delete them after 30 days. This can give you the opportunity to view photos for awhile, back the photos up in a more conventional manner on your computer and share them with others. It is not a back up and is more of a temparary place to view them. Photos should be transferred to a computer which also has  a good back up routine to external sources.
Even though iCloud can hold your iPad Backup file, the back up file does not contain most media files. The iOS backup file is more for quickly getting your devics settings restored if you have an issue with it or want to set up a new device. Your media files must also live else where in a more permanent back up such as on a computer and an external USB drive. For most actions, iCloud pretty much mirrors your iOS devices, delete something from one device it is gone from them all including iCloud.
If you want to remove photos then store and view them from an online source use services such as DropBox or other online photo services such as Flickr.

  • How do you remove a virus from your macbook?

    Hello
I think I may have a virus on my computer. When I'm online random words on the page are hyperlinked to a website claiming I won an iPad 2. The website is "BESTPROMOTIONSDAILY.COM". There is another site but I forgot the name. I have not clicked on any of the words that are hyperlinked.
Is anyone else having the same problem? If so, can you help me remove this problem? I dont know much about Apple's virus protection. I had the computer for a while and never experienced any virus, bug, malware etc issues.
If you need more information please contact me. Thank you.

Thanks to all who answered and are trying to help me.
Here are some screen shots of what I'm talking about. I cleared out the cookies from Firefox, but do not know how to clear out the CACHE. As you can see its happening in all the webpages I open.

  • How do I remove a virus from my mac book pro?

I think I have virus on my mac book pro. When I google Bank of America, it took me to the BofA results, I clidked on the link I normally use, typed in my password, and it took me to another google search page. I tried this several times, thinking maybe I clicked on the wrong link, which I knew I didn't, but just in case, and it keeps taking me to a google search page (not the normal google search engine page). How do I check for a virus and if one, remove it?
    Thanks for your help!

First thing you should do is call BofA and suspend your online account and/or change your password.
The correct IP address for BofA is
    171.161.148.173
If you paste this into your browser URL field (where it says "apple.com http//discussions.apple.com.... now) you will go directly to the BofA site, no poison in between from a lot of possible issues.
    1: Google poisoned
    2: DNS poisoned
    3: Router DNS poisoned.
I doubt very much it's your Mac, not that I've playing favorite, it's because Mac's are very highly secure.
Once you have gone to the correct site by entering the IP address into your URL field and pressing enter, bookmark it and use that from now on.
Also you should see a HTTPS in the URL when you log in, that means you have a secure connection.
