How do I remove Lightroom 4 Trial to install Lightroom 5 EDU edition?

Hello!
I currently have an expired trial of Lightroom 4 on my laptop.  I just purchased Lightroom 5 Student and Teacher edition.  How do I remove the Lightroom 4 trial but still keep the catolog to import to Lightroom 5?  And do I just do a normal install of Lightroom 5 after that?
Thanks!

You can either uninstall Lightroom 4 before or after you install Lightroom 5. Uninstalling will not remove the Lightroom 4 catalog. The catalog is a user file and will remain. When you decide to uninstall Lightroom 4 you will use the standard procedure for what ever operating system you are using. You install Lightroom 5 like you would install any other program; by running the installer. Take note that since you have a student version you need to follow the instructions on the card within the box in order to get the serial number that will activate Lightroom on your computer.

There's not much sense in purchasing a Mac to run only Windows on it.  Keep in mind that drivers for Windows are a secondary concern for Apple.  While Windows will typicall run fine, things like power managment are not optimized under Windows (you'll get less time on battery while running Windows).  You will also not be able to install firmware updates.  Firmware updates might be necessary whether you run Windows or OS X as they are updates to the code in your hardware and are not OS-specific.  You must be running OS X in order to install a firmware update.  You can do this even if you boot off of an external drive with OS X installed on it.  At the very least, you should keep just a small partition for OS X on your internal drive.

  • How do I remove the Trial Watermark from my video in premier after I have purchased the full version

How do I remove the Trial Watermark from my video in premier after I have purchased the full version

Please excuse if you know this already....
If you have the tryout version of Premiere Elements (any version) and you export with the Adobe watermark, you cannot remove the Adobe watermark from that export, even after purchase of the program.
As you found out, you can remove the Adobe watermark from the tryout project file (project.prel) after purchase. The classic way (as you have indicated worked for you) is the deletion of the project.prel's rendered files (preview files) in the purchased program. Some, like myself, have found removal of the watermark placed in the project.prel of the tryout could be achieved just importing the project.prel with its watermark into the purchased version (no rendered file deletion by the user).
Nonetheless, glad to learn that you are moving forward in your Premiere Elements projects. Wishing you many great projects.

Should I remove Lightroom 3 when installing Lightroom 5?
Or should I remove Lightroom 3 before installing Lightroom 5?

    it doesn't matter.
you can leave lr 3 and use both or you can remove lr3 and, if you remove lr 3, you can remove it before installing lr 5 (in which case you'll be prompted for lr3's serial number if your lr5 is an upgrade) or you can install it after (in which case you'll only be prompted for lr5's serial number).

  • Just got iMac - how do you remove the trial applications?

    I only got a 20" 2Ghz iMac, but upgraded to a 320Gb HDD.
I see there is a trial of MS Office and iWorks on, how do I remove these to free up space?
Also what else is considered bloatware on the iMac? or trials?
Is everything totally installed on it from factory? ie is ll Garageband stuff installed?
    cheers

First things first, unless some really poorly written 3rd patry app does someting it shouldn't, you don't need to re-install OS X on a regular basis. I have only had to wipe an OS X system once since 10.2 a few years ago, and that was my fault. This isn't like XP where the registry gets cluttered and the system gradually slows down, in general OS X is very resilient.
You can certainly grab a number of apps that will do full disk images, but unless you are fanatical about playing with shareware and you dabble in the "less than legit" parts of peer to peer file sharing, you could likely get by with Time Machine as your back up source. Time Machine, buy default, backs up system directories, so if something gets corrupted or overwritten and you can narrow down the files, you could retore system files from Time Machine.
For your personal data, Time Machine is a running daily backup of your personal data. There is a little more to it (only takes a snap shot every hour, so if you create a file and delete it before the next snapshot, it didn't get backed up, daiilys become weekly, weekly becomes monthly) but it's pretty safe. And you don't have to think about it, just happens in the background.
If you add another external drive with FAT32 you are twice as safe. I use a TM drive and have an external NAS to share data with my other computers, no worries at all.

  • How do I remove Aperture trial and go back to iPhoto (be kind, I'm new).

How do I remove the Aperture trial and go back to iPhoto.  For my usage (just iPhone pics/movies) iPhoto is okay for me, but now I cannot figure out how to remove Aperture, when I drag to Trash I get a warning that Aperture is a system file.
Please help, but also, please go slow if you can help, I am new to my Mac.

Should be pretty easy as follows:
1 - Make sure you have copies of any pictures you want that are inside Aperture somewhere on your computer.
2 - Quit Aperture > Remove any Aperture icon from dock > drag the Aperture program (lens icon) from Applications folder to the Trash > proceed through any warning dialog (including entering password as required) to complete the process.
Note - new security features in OS X Lion may present those warning dialogs to prevent accidental deletion of Apple programs.
3 - Hold down the 'Option' key and use the 'Go' menu in menu bar and select the 'Library' option.
4 - In the Library folder, open the 'Application Support' folder and delete any Aperture folder found.
5 - While still in the Library folder, open the 'Preferences' folder and delete both the 'com.apple.Aperture.plist' and 'com.apple.Aperture.plist.lockfile' file.
6 - While still in the Library folder, open the 'Caches' folder and delete the 'com.apple.Aperture' folder.
7 - Go the your 'Pictures' folder and drag the 'Aperture Library' (may be named Aperture Trial Library or similar) to the Trash to delete it as well.
8 - Empty the Finder Trash to remove Aperture.
Note - there are some files and Aperture folders in the '/Library' folder (which is in the root of your system drive), but you don't really need to remove those. Since you are a beginner, it is probably better not to for now.
    That should do it.
Additional edit: There are two Library folders I am referring to. The first is the one in your user account 'Home' folder which is the one you are going to by using the 'Go' menu. This is the one you are deleting files from in the steps listed. The second Library folder is the one in the root of your system drive and is not typically a location for beginners to work with (thus the final note above). Hope that is clear enough.
Message was edited by: CorkyO2 to add clarity concerning the 'Library' folder.

  • How do I remove the trial banner after purchasing full software?

I downloaded the Trial Version first to make sure that all of the features I needed to create the video were there.  Now I have purchased the full version and have a product code.  How do I remove the "Created with... Trial Version" banner from my current project that I have been working on, now that I have the product code entered?  It did not automatically remove.

I found the answer,  took some looking around, but here is an answer.  I just tried it and it worked! Just make sure to save a backup of your project just in case.
I wanted to make this easy to find.  So here is the proper answer:

The "Delete rendered Files" option is there under "Timeline" in the Menubar for deleting render files of a project.

  • How do I remove duplicate applications after installing Tiger 10.7.2?

After installing Lion 10.7.2 I have ten duplicate applications, all are applications that are generally included in MAC software (ie DVD playe, iChat, iTunes, Mail, etc.). How do I remove the duplicates? I tried deleting one from the folder where I generally kept it, then replaced it with the newer version that loaded with 10.7.2. However, that created a duplicate again.

    Hi,
I can (somewhat) speak for iChat.
iChat should always be kept in the  Applications folder - so much so that it should not be put in any sub folder (I have heard of people putting it in an IM apps folder or lumping all Apple Apps in one folder).
This unfortunately causes problems in Updating (iChat gets updated from time to time in OS Updates) and in Upgrades (Such as moving to Lion) as the Apps are not "in the right place".
    Does this help ?

  • How can I remove an old version of Lightroom ? I use Mountain Lion on Mac.

    Hello,
I upgrade from Lightroom 3 to Lightroom 5. There was no problem. My pictures have been imported in Lightroom 5. But Lightroom 3 was not removed from my computer. How can I remove this old version in a good way ?
I use Mountain Lion on Mac.
    Thanks

I'm not a Mac user. But you remove Lightroom just like you would remove any other application from your system. If you purchased Lightroom 5 as an upgrade it probably depended on knowing the serial number of your Lightroom 3. I suggest that you store that Lightroom 3 serial number somewhere you'll remember because it will be needed if/when you decide to upgrade to a newer version of Lightroom.
And, just to clarify, there is no interdependence between your Lightroom 5 and Lightroom 3. They are separate, independent applications.

  • Installing Lightroom 6 actually installed Lightroom CC

I have an Adobe ID and own Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5.  I also have CC for photographers under the same account.  I just purchased and downloaded the standalone version of Lightroom 6 and installed it.  When I ran the program, it said I needed to update the Adobe Application Manager which I then updated.  After that upgrade, it prompted me to login to Adobe and then launched Lightroom.  Lightroom converted my LR5 catalog to 6 and once it was done I noticed that things were a bit different so I checked Help | About and discovered that it had installed Lightroom CC.
This is not what I want on this particular computer.  I use the standalone versions of Lightroom and Photoshop one both a desktop system and a notebook.  I run Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC on a separate desktop and notebook which my wife uses.  Because of this installation issue, we will be having issues with both of us running CC on our notebooks and me trying to also run Lightroom on my desktop.  But, even if that problem is not a big deal, I did not get what I purchased and need a way to recover immediately.
I called Adobe Support and have been on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes so far.  Figured the forum might be faster than waiting to talk to them.
    Any ideas?

  • How do I remove the flickr plugin in lightroom 3

I'm trying lightroom 3 at the moment, but I can't seem to remove the flickr plugin. It's rather an eye-sore in the UI, and since I don't want to use it (after all, who decided that every person in the world uses flickr?) I want it gone. However, going to the plugin management, I can't remove it, and I can't disable it either, despite it being a "plugin", and not a baked-in program feature. I can "hide" it in the UI, which is a decent intermediary solution, but it doesn't solve the fact that there's a mystery plugin installed that I can't remove. (and I hate adobe's tendency to put stuff on my HD I didn't ask for, nor would have consented to if asked)
So: how do I uninstall and remove this plugin?

Hmm, Not being familiar with MacOS's package management, I have no idea where to even look for what you describe in Windows. There's only in-program plugin management, using file -> plugin manager (In this manager I can disable the plugin, but not remove it), and there's the Windows "programs and features" control, which is Windows' installed package manager, but it only offers me the option to repair or uninstall all of lightroom, but not individual parts of it.
