How do I remove Mac 10.8.2

Ever since installing 10.8.2 my Mac keeps crashing, how do I uninstall it?

What will you replace it with because first you must erase the drive? If you are going to do that then you might as well install Mountain Lion from scratch and see if that doesn't make things better:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
  1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
  2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
  3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
  4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

how to completely remove mac os and install windows 7 on macbook pro with retina display 15 inch

There's not much sense in purchasing a Mac to run only Windows on it.  Keep in mind that drivers for Windows are a secondary concern for Apple.  While Windows will typicall run fine, things like power managment are not optimized under Windows (you'll get less time on battery while running Windows).  You will also not be able to install firmware updates.  Firmware updates might be necessary whether you run Windows or OS X as they are updates to the code in your hardware and are not OS-specific.  You must be running OS X in order to install a firmware update.  You can do this even if you boot off of an external drive with OS X installed on it.  At the very least, you should keep just a small partition for OS X on your internal drive.

  • How do I remove Mac OS X Update Combined?

After updating to 10.6.8 I began having problems. One with my NVIDIA driver (9400M). So I installed the current update from the NVIDIA site. That didnt seem to solve the problem. Unable to revert to my former setting I tried to re-install 10.6.8 in an attempt to restore my driver. After downloading the Mac OS X Update Combined the colors on my screen were slightly out of hue, the mouse was flickering once it entered the dock, and a game I frequently play, World of Warcraft, would no longer run. How do I remove the Combined update or restore my setting? No I do not have the Installation disc, the store where I purchased my Mac Book Pro did not supply me with one. Im begging for the communities help, I need a solution to this.

Since this update and my browsing went down the sink, it takes any page 30 second to load, either on Safari Firefox or Crome. My IMac is the only computer affected so I know it is not network or ISP issue.
I hope there is away to revert it, I'd hate to reformat because of an update, and still there is no guarantee this problem wont happen again after reformating and installing the OS again and do the update
Is it time to start worring from the Mac updates not from Viruses?

  • How I reinstall removed Mac App Store

Hi everyone, I have a problem.
I'm using Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and I removed the Mac App Store from my iMac (accidentally). Now, I want to install the new Mac OS X Mavericks but I need the App Store to do.
I tried to extract "AppStore.app" from OS X 10.8.5 Update Combo but nothing... How I do to reinstall Mac App Store on my computer?
    Thanks guys.

You can't delete the App Store app from Yosemite. If you try, this is what you get.
It's likely that you removed it from the Dock. The is a shortcut to the App Store in the  menu. The app should be in the Applications folder. You can drag & drop it back onto the Dock.

  • How do i remove mac shield

How can I get rid of this bogus MacShield?  It keeps wanting to scan my computer for virus's?

Congratulations, you got a trojan. Likely one of the MacDefender variants, don't give your credit card or personal information it's a scam.
If you did, call your bank or credit card company and freeze the card, get a new one issued.
    Remove the malware
Quit the browser that you are using by clicking the red dot/blob/button in the top left corner of the window.
Delete the install package of "MacDefender" (or the other name variants) in your Downloads folder (or  the default folder set by your browser).
Click Go on your menu bar and then click  Utilities.
Double-click Activity Monitor from the  Utilities window.
Make sure All Processes is selected in the drop-down menu at the top right corner of the window.
Select the malware by clicking the name "MacDefender" (or the other name variants) in the Process Name column.
Click Quit Process and click Force Quit if prompted.
Quit Activity Monitor by clicking the red dot/blob/button in the top left corner of the window.
Open your Mac OS X Applications folder by clicking  Finder  Applications.
Find "MacDefender.app" (or the other name variants) and drag it to the Trash and enter your administrator  password if prompted.
For the MacShield variant, find "mdDownloader.app" and drag it to the Trash.
Empty the Trash by holding down the command key, right-click the Trash and and click Secure Empty Trash.
Search for and remove other files
Open a new Finder window by clicking Finder .
Under Places on the left-hand Sidebar, click your username.
Double-click the Library folder and then double-click the Preferences folder.
Look for com.aplle.md.plist and move it to the Trash.
Empty the Trash by holding down the command key, right-click the Trash and and click Secure Empty Trash.
Use Spotlight (the white field at the top right-hand corner of the window) to search for the following terms and move any associated files to the Trash: "MacDefender", "MacSecurity", "MacProtector" or "Apple Security Center" or "MacShield"

I am having trouble removing songs from my iPhone.  i have unchecked songs in the library on my mac, but they still show up on phone after syncing.  how do I remove them?

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1867
I hope this information helps ....

  • How do I remove a secondary apple id from my Mac? I am being prompted for a apple id password for a former user; I do not have the information.  Prevents updates from App Store.

How do I remove a secondary Apple ID that is not in use from my MacBook pro? The ID does not belong to me and when I attempt to download updates from App Store with my Apple ID, I am prompted for the password of the secondary Apple ID.

Is this a second hand Mac? If so, you need to erase the Mac and install the version of OS X that shipped installed on the Mac from the factory. Then you set the Mac up as new with your Apple ID.
User Linc Davis explains how a new owner can prepare a 2nd hand Mac for their own use.

  • My daughter's mac synced her music to my wife's ipad even though she was logged into itunes on my wife's account. How do I remove my daughter's music and get my wife's music?

while setting up my wife's new ipad, my daughter connected it to her mac.  She was logged into my wife's itunes account, but it synced my daughter's music to the ipad, none of my wife's music is on the ipad.  How do we remove all my daughter's music?

The iPad does not sync to an iTunes account, it syncs to an iTunes library. Sync the iPad again to your daughter's computer and uncheck all of the music that is currently on the iPad to remove it.
Connect the iPad to your daughter's computer, launch iTunes, click on the iPad name on the left sidebar under Devices, then click on the Music Tab at the top of the iTunes window, uncheck the box next to Sync Music, a dialog box will pop up asking if you are sure ... the music will be removed ... click Don't Sync Music, then click apply in the lower right corner of iTunes and it should remove all of the music.

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I don;t have the drive shared out at all at the moment, is this necessary?  How do I do this if so?

  • How can I remove a Input device from my Mac?

Hello, I would like to know how I can remove a input device from the Sound area in System Preferences. I installed Wiretap Anywhere a sound input program for my Mac and did not realize It was not supported for Moutain Lion. I put the application in the trash and then emptied the trash can. Now whenever I try to start GarageBand or a program like that it crashes my computer. In the Input tab of Sound (System Preferences) It is listed as Wiretap: System Audio.
I would like to remove this from the Input tab so I can use my Mac reguarly. Any Ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Justin

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

  • Mac OS no longer available after trying to remove Windows on Bootcamp. How can I restore Mac OS without the Mac HDD in options?

Mac OS no longer available after trying to remove Windows on Bootcamp. How can I restore Mac OS without the Mac HDD in options?
So what I did was, I had bought my iMac from a shop and asked them to do bootcamp for me. However, they installed 32 bit instead of 64. My fault, I did not make my self clear about it. So after it has been delivered to my house, I realized that I wanted the 64 bit. I tried to remove windows on bootcamp but honestly, I have not experienced this before. So I failed. I believe, I did something wrong.
So I opened the iMac and it keeps asking me to go to windows. Windows OS also corrupted.
I tried the Option Key but the only option is Windows 7 only. So using a different keyboard, I press option and it only shows Windows HDD and the Mac HDD has gone.
What am I going to do? How can I restore Mac OS without the HDD anymore?
