How do I remove Mac OS X Update Combined?

After updating to 10.6.8 I began having problems. One with my NVIDIA driver (9400M). So I installed the current update from the NVIDIA site. That didnt seem to solve the problem. Unable to revert to my former setting I tried to re-install 10.6.8 in an attempt to restore my driver. After downloading the Mac OS X Update Combined the colors on my screen were slightly out of hue, the mouse was flickering once it entered the dock, and a game I frequently play, World of Warcraft, would no longer run. How do I remove the Combined update or restore my setting? No I do not have the Installation disc, the store where I purchased my Mac Book Pro did not supply me with one. Im begging for the communities help, I need a solution to this.

Since this update and my browsing went down the sink, it takes any page 30 second to load, either on Safari Firefox or Crome. My IMac is the only computer affected so I know it is not network or ISP issue.
I hope there is away to revert it, I'd hate to reformat because of an update, and still there is no guarantee this problem wont happen again after reformating and installing the OS again and do the update
Is it time to start worring from the Mac updates not from Viruses?

how to completely remove mac os and install windows 7 on macbook pro with retina display 15 inch

There's not much sense in purchasing a Mac to run only Windows on it.  Keep in mind that drivers for Windows are a secondary concern for Apple.  While Windows will typicall run fine, things like power managment are not optimized under Windows (you'll get less time on battery while running Windows).  You will also not be able to install firmware updates.  Firmware updates might be necessary whether you run Windows or OS X as they are updates to the code in your hardware and are not OS-specific.  You must be running OS X in order to install a firmware update.  You can do this even if you boot off of an external drive with OS X installed on it.  At the very least, you should keep just a small partition for OS X on your internal drive.

    Hi,
The v10.6.7 "combo" update addresses MAS bugs.  You can download and install from this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
Restart your Mac after the update is installed. It's ok to do this even if you are already running v10.6.7.

I Have discovered that if you want to delete the update and have not installed it yet then you can do it. Just go into settings then go to general and under storage wait for it to populate with all the apps. The software update will be there. Select it and delete. Thats it

  • Mac OS X Update Combined v. 10.5.6 wouldn't install

I have a MacBookPro Mac OS X 10.5.4 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM memory, I installed the update to the Mac OS X Update Combined 10.5.6 version, it worked, I click install in the Software Update app., it tells me to restart, I click "restart now" and so far so good.
The installation begins, and it gets stuck at around 10%. I thought maybe it needed time, so I kept it all night, for about 7 hours, the next morning it was still stuck where i left it, it didn't move a tiny bit. So i'm not sure how to get the installation for my update to work, or where am i going wrong (all the other updates were installed successfully except this one)?
    Any suggestions, please.

I'm left confused by this discussion... and, I would hate to add to the confusion of others. But here is my problem: If you've downloaded the combo update from the Apple website, there is no need to utilize Software Update to install the program!
Software Update is useful only to the extent that it can alert you to the existence of an available update. It is up to you whether you wish to proceed with the update (via Software Update). My preference, however, is to do as you have done: download the Combo (if available) update from Apple website, then restart your Mac in Safe Boot and install the dmg/pkg that you now have waiting in your "downloads" folder.

  • The update "Mac OS X update combined (powerpc)" can't be installed?

I recently upgraded from OS X 10.3.9 to Tiger (10.4.6) and encountered a weird problem. My system is a Dual 1GHz G4 (mirror drive door) with 768 MB RAM.
When I try to launch iTunes, I get an error telling me that "iTunes requires Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later..."
That never happened before, so I assume that the Tiger installation (or a Software Update I was unaware of) sabotaged iTunes by imposing this new requirement.
Now here's the irony: I can't install OS X 10.4.7! When I run Software Update, it tries to install Mac OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) 10.4.10-- but it fails every time with the message:
The update "Mac OS X update combined (powerpc)" can't be installed.
The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by "Apple."
So this seems to be a transmission error, or something wrong with Apple's server. I've tried this repeatedly over the last few days, but nothing changes.
Any suggestions? I tried downloading the installer from Apple's download page, but it results in the same error. Is there perhaps a clean version of 10.4.8 I can download from somewhere?
It's really frustrating not being able to run iTunes because of an OS "upgrade."

Then, stop using Software Update, click the Downloads link at the page's top, and manually download the COMBO update. As for iTunes, apparently you installed a later version. With 10.4.6, your quite a few updates behind: OS, security, iTunes, and QuickTime, just to name a few. Before you update, be sure you make a bootable backup/clone. • The update "Mac OS X Update Combined" can't be saved.

A few days ago my mac ( late 2009 model MacBook pro running lion 10.7.2 ) started freezing, a lot. The freezing seemed to be a problem with osx itself rather than with any particular program. So I initiated software update hoping that there would be an osx update. Low and behold, there was.
Here is the problem.... I can't get it. I have tried twice and both times I get this message
"The update “Mac OS X Update Combined” can’t be saved.
The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."
    Any ideas?

Ok this problem has developed somewhat.
My machine has gone from bad freezing spells to being downright broken.
I rebooted the machine and got stuck at login screen.
Rebooted again and didn't get to login screen.
Rebooted again and got logged in but my desktop was unresponsive and then started flashing between the desktop image and a plain grey screen. I did this literally all night (left it over night).
So today I have booted up from an install of lion I have on an external FireWire drive. And all is well. I am trying to backup things like my photo library and other documents so that I can format the internal hard drive and and do a clean install.
I can access the hard drive, see all the files, but when trying to copy it over I get an error message saying
"the finder can't complete the operation because some data in "iPhoto library" can't be read or written ( error code -36 )
Now before anyone screams broken hard drive, the data can be read, because I can view it all in finder. Just can't copy it out to an external drive.
    Please help!!
Oh ps. Before booting from the external I created a new admin account on my machine and booted int that. The freezing problem was the same as in my normal account.

  • I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when I try to load the Mac Os x update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it?

I have an Intel Desktop iMac and I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when it tries to load the Mac OS X update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website  Mac OS X V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it? Any other suggestions. The printer is not working either - I am not sure if they are connected. Everything else is fine.

Please excuse, but I have to ask an obvious question: Did you already update using the Snow Leopard Retail install DVD? (You must do this first; 10.6.7 is just an update if you already have 10.6.) Are you, then, trying to update from whatever version was on the install DVD to 10.6.7?
Otherwise, I'd keep trying. The 10.6.7 Combo is a huge update.

  • HELP: The update "Mac OS X Update Combined" can't be saved error -1001

I have a Mac Mini at a vacation town home, so it needs quite a few updates whenever I use it. Everything installed fine except a combined 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 update. Everytime I attempt to download/install it, it will download a few mbs, then stop and give me the error:
*The update “Mac OS X Update Combined” can’t be saved.*
A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.
My internet never seems to have conked out, as the 'ready' light on my modem is always lit, so where is the problem here?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I can download Mac Os X Update combined 10.6.8, but when I restart to install the update, the message, "The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs" comes up. Will do. But, I noticed something. It says the file size is 1.09 GB, but when I download it, it shows a total of 1.01 GB. Is it supposed to be like that?
I just downloaded the update on a PC I'm using at the moment and the size is 1,087,020,133 bytes. You can use "Get Info" to see the actual size of the file on your Mac. If it is the same size then it probably means that there is a problem with the update being applied to your Mac. If it isn't the same size, that doesn't necessarily mean you have a bad download. If it isn't the same size, try using Chrome, Firefox, and/or Opera to download the update.
BTW, Austin Kinsella might be really asking if you have enough free space for such a large download. And even if you do for the file, the update process will require some more while it is running and for the resulting, hopefully, 10.6.8 on your Mac.
    Good luck.
