How do I remove Mail outgoing password?

I set up Mail with PW required for outgoing.  Although it is in Keychain I'd prefer to remove that selection and have the messages just go.  Looking under Accounts | Advanced the "no password" authentication option is gone.  I could delete the account and recreate it.  But I'd rather get the option back.

It seems most SMTP is going to want a password, no?
You can delete out of your keychain if that is your problem. Through keychain.app in your utilities folder.
Mail>preferences>Accounts>account info> outgoing SMTP>  highlite and edit list,  If it is a mail problem.

How do I remove my startup password, it's really annoying

You don't. Without it your computer has no security, you will not be able to make certain system changes, and you will not be able to install new software. If you don't like using a password at startup there is a solution although it renders your computer unsafe from others.
Open Users & Groups or Accounts preferences. Click on the lock icon and enter your admin password when prompted. Click on the Login Options button. On the top right you will see Automatic Login: and a dropdown menu. Select your username from the menu. You will be prompted again to enter your admin password. Then you are done. From now on your computer will startup without asking you to enter a password.

  • How do I get MAIL mailbox passwords to stay set?

I've recently upgraded to OS 10.4.9 and my MAIL mailbox passwords will not stay set. I am asked for the password for each mailbox every time. I've tried all the suggestions/instructions in Mail help but my save password check is always ignored. Any suggestions s to how i can get MAIL to behave as it's supposed to?

Open /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access, choose Keychain First Aid from the application menu, and proceed to repair the keychain. If that doesn’t work, try removing the password entries from the keychain and letting Mail create them again the next time it asks for them.
If the problem persists, try this:
    1. In Keychain Access > Preferences > General, click Reset My Keychain and proceed as requested. A new (empty) login keychain should be created and the old one renamed and removed from the keychain list, but not deleted.
    2. You can add the old (renamed) keychain (stored in ~/Library/Keychains/) back to the keychain list by clicking the [+] button in Edit > Keychain List.
    3. You can move/copy password entries from the old keychain to the new one if wish.

I always have to ignore the option to save passwords but now see that I must have clicked the wrong thing in error and it has saved a password I do not want saved for security and privacy reasons. How do I go about removing this "remembered password"...? Thank you. Wish I could turn the annoying feature off altogether as well.... Grrrr!!

Open the "Settings" windows (I have a German Version, and here it's under Extras (Probably "options" in English-->Settings).
Open the Tab "Security" and you'll find a button to have a list of all passwords you saved. Just mark the one you wish to delete and press the "delete" key

  • How do I remove my login password?

I just bough a Macbook Pro (the newest one) and everytime I login it says I need a password but  I don't want to have to put in a password every time I login. How do I remove it?

Here you go I found this from Dummies.com:
Some users don’t care for the fact that Mac OS X Lion is a multiuser operating system and dislike having to log in when they start up their Mac. For those users, here’s a way to disable the login screen and enable the OS X automatic login feature:
Open the Users & Groups System Preferences pane, select yourself in the list of users, and click the Login Options button below the list.
Choose the account you want to be logged in automatically from the Automatic Login pop-up menu.To disable the logging-in requirement, you have to be an administrator, and you might need to unlock the Users & Groups System Preferences.
Remember: When you disable logging in, you also affect all the preferences set by anyone else who uses your Mac unless they log out of your account and log into theirs.

I would like to remove mail accounts on my Mac. I press"-" and account is gone, however as soon as I start mail again it shows back. Is there a way to remove it so it wouldn't come back?
    Thank you.

From the Finder menu bar, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... and enter
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
in the text box that opens. A Finder window will open with a file selected. Press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. In the Sharing & Permissions section of that window, do you have read & write access? Is the file locked? What is its modification date?

Well, you're not alone, as I've stated, neither can I. Next time, if you want it done using the phone, find any 12 year old kid. They'll rearrange everything for you in a few seconds.

  • How can I remove the HDD password?

Did anyone know how I must reset the Toshiba 2.5" SATA or IDE password?
Or how I can use a password protected HDD?

I am sorry but the last poster is incorrect. You can remove the password as follows :-
    1) Start the computer
    2) Enter the BIOS
    3) Scroll down to HDD Password box
    4) Select "REGISTERED" in the password field
    5) When prompted enter the existing password
    6) When prompted for the new password press the "backspace" key" once
    7) When prompted for the [assword the second time, press the "backspace" key once more
    8) A message to say that the password has been changed will appear and the word UNREGISTERED will appear in the password field
    9) Select "exit and save"
At the next power up you will not be asked for the password.

  • How can I remove a firmware password?

Bought a MBAir in a pawn shop, clean unit, otherwise empty, wanted to take it back to factory specs at a genius bar.  No can do, locked at the firmware password.  How do I get that removed.  Perfect working, don't like not having complete control over it.  Data loss not an issue, just want it restored to factory original.  Period.  Help?

Only Apple can do this. Call in at your local Apple Store.

  • How do I remove mail folders from "On My Mac?"

    Hi
I believe my problem is related to Mavericks.  10.9.2.  Using Apple Mail and a Gmail account.
I am repeatedly being asked to re enter a password for a Gmail account, so I deleted the Gmail account on all Apple devices (at least I think I did).
So I continue to be hassled for a password to this Gmail account when I open Mail, even though the Gmail account does not appear in my System Settings or under Accounts in Mail.
I do see folders for this same Gmail account in Mail, under the heading "On My Mac."
Do I need to delete these folders as well?  If so, how?
Ultimately I would like to reinstall the Gmail account.  But I really believe I need to compeltely delete it from my Mac, so Mail will accept the stored password.  Tell me if I am wrong.
    Thanks
    AS

To delete, select it, and then go to Mail/Mailbox/Delete Mailbox.
Try deleting your Gmail password from Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. Then run Keychain First Aid and try resetting the original keychain.
    Keychain Reset

  • How to fix/remove Mail 4.6 columns?

My Mail View is suddenly changed. I have several additional columns beyond what I've had for years. I found a list of columns under the View menu, but it does not list all of them.
I was not able to remove the following columns
    Last Saved
    Rank
    Author
    Date Viewed
...Okay, I see the problem is bigger than that. My Sent window shows the same columns as the In window, for example "From". Normally, the Sent window displays the appropriate columns, e.g. "To", not "From."
Apparently I've stepped into some doo-doo here. Can someone please help?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi seventy one,
Yes, some of the columns were listed with checkmarks and could be unchecked. Like I said though, the original -- and correct -- format returned suddenly for no apparent reason. So now there's nothing to fix. Except I'd like to understand what happened and what to do if it happens again.
Here's some further info I just discovered...
When I right-click a column header (or use the View menu) I now see a different list of columns than I was seeing when I had the problem. For example, there is no longer a "Date Viewed" column.
