How do I remove McAfee?

I am entitled to McAfee with my AT&T Uverse account. I downloaded it on my Mac MBP which is on OSX Yosemite. After that, time machine stopped backing up to my Time Capsule, and I could no longer print to any of my 3 wifi printers (none of them will connect).
I should have searched this forum first and found the 2013 post that said not to install McAfee, but I was panicked because I accidentally opened an email pretending to be an e-fax.
So how do I remove McAfee and make sure it hasn't done some irreparable damage already?

FYI, I ran the McAfee uninstaller and then rebooted. After that, I was able to re-add my wifi printers and Time Machine started backing up to my time capsule again.
I had installed McAfee-Macinstaller-3.3.dmg. Definitely a waste of time. It seemed to hang when running a full scan. I ran a partial scan, and it did not give any info during the scan. So I couldn't tell when it was done. And there was no history of what it had scanned. Basically, McAfee was a terrible time sink and did not help me at all.

That is a Windows virus. It cannot in any way affect your Mac, and is not the cause of the speed problems you're having. You should be able to freely delete the files that are infected with that virus, to avoid spreading it to a Windows machine accidentally.
I'm a bit confused, because your profile indicates that you have a PowerBook G4 running 10.3.9, while you posted in the Mountain Lion (10.8) forum. If your profile is actually out of date and you're running Mountain Lion, I have heard anecdotal reports that the current version of Sophos has some problems with ML. I have no personal experience with that, so I can't say whether it's true or not, but removing Sophos would be worth a try. There should be an uninstaller in the Applications folder. However, if McAfee was removed improperly, by simply putting all the McAfee apps in the trash, then it may be gone. In that case, you have two options:
First, log in as an admin user (if you aren't already using an admin user account) and try executing the following command in the Terminal:
/usr/local/McAfee/uninstallMSC
There is a hidden Unix shell script there that will uninstall components of McAfee. When it runs, it will ask you for your account password. When you type it, nothing will appear in the window... that is normal, just type it anyway and press return.
If the Terminal complains with an error message saying "No such file or directory" that means this script is no longer present. In this case, you will need to try reinstalling McAfee, then remove it using the newly-installed uninstaller, found in the Applications folder.
