How Do I Remove Older Versions of iPod for Windows

According to my Add/Remove Programs utility I have iPod for Windows versions 3.8, 4.3, and 4.7 installed on my PC. It appears that these older versions take up quite a bit of memory; however, I am hesitant to try to remove these older versions using this utility because I am afraid of wreaking some sort of irreversible havoc.
Anybody know about this?

If you are running the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1.5), then I believe that removing these past versions of iPod software off your computer shouldn't be a problem at all (since now iTunes 7 does not need a standalone iPod updater application).
To install the latest version of iTunes, see this download page:
Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
Or, if you don't want to download the latest version of iTunes, just delete the previous versions of iPod software (like 3.8 and 4.3), and keep the latest one on your computer.

  • Older versions of Ipod for Windows

IN looking at my add/remove menu in windows, I have eight versions of "Ipod for Windows" with various dates. Is it safe to uninstall the older versions?

Yes it is, the iPod updater was integrated with iTunes when version 7 was released. As a back up, you might want to keep the last one in case you ever needed it but dispose of the rest, they are just taking up space.

  • Cannot uninstall previous versions of iPod for Windows

Over a year ago, my roommate gave me his old iPod. I installed it and iTunes and it worked fine until the battery on the iPod died and everything went nuts with the iPod - iTunes worked fine.
Now i have a new 30 gig video iPod, but I can't get anything working. I had to fight to update iTunes / Quicktime. Basically, I had to run:
    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\IDriver.exe" -Embedding
from the command line. I don't know why, but it worked.
Now I have three versions of "iPod for Windows" installed. I click to uninstall any of them (from add / remove programs) and nothing happens.
I wouldn't care, but when I run iTunes with the iPod connected, it says "the software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly."
I've tried everything I can see, but I'm suspicious the three versions of iPod for Windows are conflicting with each other and / or iTunes.
    Can anyone offer any help?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Where can I down load older versions of FireFox for windows and Mac for testing my application? I need to have copies of version 3, 4 and 5.

My tesm develops .net applications that must support many browsers and we need access to download older versions of FireFox for windows and mac computers, so that we can test our application prior to rolling out a new version.

Firefox 3.5 is an antique version that is chock-full of security vulnerabilities.<br>
Firefox 3.6 also contains security vulnerabilities; it stopped being supported on April 24.

If you can't run the latest version because your system doesn't meet the requirements, it's highly recommended that you use another browser that is secure. TenFourFox is a third-party build of Firefox that is kept up-to-date and runs on Mac OS X 10.4 and PowerPC Macs (as a side note, I've never seen the site go down; whatever problems James noticed 9 months ago must've been a fluke).

If your system can run the latest version, but you want to downgrade because you've experienced problems, please start a new thread and someone will try to help you.

    Welcome to Apple Communities
When you update iTunes, older versions are replaced. If you didn't update, go to Software Update

  • How do I download older versions of apps for my iPod?

How do I download older versions of apps which I purchased for my iPod Touch to my computer?  I am using iOS 4.2.1 and many apps have been updated to no longer work on older iPods.  I know I need to go to the iTunes store but there isn´t a navigation from there.

You can't download them; you can only sync previously downloaded copies from your iTunes library.

  • Deleting old versions of iPod for Windows

I have the following "iPod for Windows" programs on my hard drive and am wondering if I need all of them or if I can remove the oldest ones. Which can I safely remove?
    2005-11-17 115MB
    2006-01-10 115MB
    2006-03-23 165MB
    2006-06-28 232MB
    Thanks for the help.

If you have itunes 7, you can delete/remove all of them. If you want to be on the safe side, remove all but the most current one (aka 2006-06-28)

  • How do you remove older versions of flash player?

I have uninstalled the flash player and re-installed with the
new version, but I am still unable to get rid of version 9.0.115.0.
I can not find anything on the adobe site to remedy this. This is
my first laptop and don't want any unnecessary vulnerabilities on
it. Below is the link to the site where I got my information as
well as the"'warning" about the only thing that shows up vulnerable
    on my computer.
    http://secunia.com/advisories/28083/
NOTE: When updating Flash Player, older versions are not
always automatically removed from your system. If older versions
were detected that you believe should not be present, then please
contact the vendor regarding how to remove them from your system.
    Thanks for any help.

I have Macromedia Flash Player versions 4.0.7.0, 6.0.80.0,
6.0.79.0 and 7.0.19.0 on my system and have tried using the Adobe
uninstaller multiple time to no avail (does it just uninstall from
the browser?). Anyway, I agree it appears these old files may be
vulnerable. Why does Adobe make it so difficult to remove old
programs? By the way they do not appear in my Windows Add/Remove
list. Please give us some specific method to remove them (not just
another reference to the uninstaller). Thank you

  • How do I remove older version of bonjour

My I tunes quit working so I uninstalled and went to reinstall and it but it won't load because an older version of bonjour can't be uninstalled,  The program Bonjour is not in my programs list and searching doesn't help because it won't uninstall even if I find it in my search.  Help

What didn't work?  Removing everything or just the older version of Bonjour?  Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided above to walk you through the process?
Perhaps it would be a better idea to post this in the iTunes forums, since it is an issue with iTunes and your iPod Shuffle.

  • How do I remove older versions of Photoshop?

Tried the recommended method for Windows PC's.  However, I keep getting "Error 1316. The specified account already exists."  I am currently running Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements 13.  I also have versions 8, 10, 11, and 12 on my computer.  I would like to remove these older version.  Suggestions?

I tend to keep all versions installed as they are each stand-alone applications and removal doesn’t save much disk space although if you are running short of space all those versions will add up. If you are happy with the way PSE13 is running try this:
Run MS Fixit and then try uninstalling again from the Windows control panel.
    http://support2.microsoft.com/fixit/
If that doesn’t work, and you feel competent navigating system files, it’s possible to uninstall manually.

  • How to revert to older version of ipod software

The latest 1.0.3 iPod upgrade screwed up my iPod. Some artists don't show up under the Artists, All Artists or Genre menus. I have to go under All Albums or All songs under a submenu to find them. In iTunes things are fine, and when I connect my iPod and browse the music on the iPod using iTunes, things are fine. It's only on the iPod things are screwed up. I've tried changing the MP3 tag information on the names, genre, etc. numerous times to no avail.
    And only since 1.0.3.
Is there a way to revert to the prior (I assume 1.0.2) version of iPod software? Resetting the iPod stupidly puts back 1.0.3 again. I don't see where I can download 1.0.2 or any iPod version anywhere.
    Raul

Well. go to http://spr33.co.uk/wp/archives/downgrading-apple-ipod-firmware-102-101 and dolwload the "iPod_24.1.0.1.ipsw" then press the shift button when clicking restore locat the file and then you are downgrading!
The problem is I could only find 1.0.1! I'm serching for 1.0.2 right now!

  • Installing older version of Quicktime for Windows

I have recently acquired an older piece of software that I am told requires Quicktime 6.3 to run and will not run under Quicktime 7.6.2 which I currently have on my computer- acquired with iTunes. If one tries to uninstall the new QuickTime and install the old, nothing works and I get an error 2095 on trying to run QuickTime. Is there a way of doing this, and if I downgrade QuickTime to an earlier version will it interfere with Itunes 8, which I currently have on my computer?

One might take a look thru these post's
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2096581&tstart=60
Myself would guess old QT msi installer files are hindering the return to QT 6.3, and don't think the registry would be a issue unless a different administrator account was used at some point, I think QT would rewrite the registry

  • Multiple iPod for Windows programs

    Can anyone help a technophobe??!
I am trying to clear some disk space and I see that I have three versions of iPod for Windows programs dated 7 Feb 2005 (v 3.1), 23 September 2005 (v 4.3) and 10 January 2006 (v 4.7) in my "Add or Remove Programs" list.
Am I OK to Remove the first two programs to free up some space?
Many thanks and apologies if this question's been asked and answered already.
    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi,
I have the same problem. Did you delete the older program dates and did it work (without destroying anything important)? I, too, am a technophone/illerate.

  • "Uninstalling" iPod for Windows

Looking through my list of programs on "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows, and I'm finding four different versions of "iPod for Windows," each about 248MB files, each with a different date. Can I delete these without affecting my iPod settings and music? I'm desperate for any spare space on my hard drive.
    Thanks for any help/advice!

Yes. None of them are necessary if iTunes 7 or newer is installed, and only the most recent one is necessary otherwise.
