Hello, I just upgraded by verizon security suite, and now when I start 'ptr it gets hung up trying to install 'sonic update manager', which evidently needs a disk (that I don't think I've ever had)..after canceling it out 3 times it vanishes, but how do I delete this from start up activities? (assuming it's not something I need)..thanks from SW NY state...

Sonic Update Manger has nothing to do with Verizon Internet Security Suite (VISS). Sonic is an application used with the Sonic RecordNow which is now owned by Roxio. Sonic Update Manager and Sonic Record Now come pre-installed on computers from manufacturers such as HP and Dell.
I've seen this issue mostly with Dells. You can go here to view Dell's proposed solution.

I updated my Blackberry desktop software to version 6.0, I am now getting a popup from Sonic Update manager that wants to install some sort of update. It will not install because it wants you to insert the disk. If you click cancel it still tries to install. I believe it's something to do with the Roxio media manager. Anyone else have this problem and what's the fix? thank you!

What I ended up doing was going to my control panel/add remove programs and deleted the sonic update manager then I download the latest version of the manager. You can find it at this link under ALL APPLICATIONS, #2 http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000020GN&PARAMS=set-locale=en

I have the App Store icon in the Dock. When there's an update a red number appears on said icon. Well, I went to check on the updates and it's for 4 different applications I either no longer have or use. One of them is an update for Lion OS users. I'm still on Snow Leopard, so it doesn't even apply to me.
So there they sit... I'm not going to download the updates... so how do I get rid of them?

If there are updates available for apps you have deleted, try this.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Move the Cache.db and Updates files from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, restart your Mac.
For any apps you still have installed but do not use, the updates will still be available from the Updates top of the App Store window and show on the red badge on the App Store icon in the Dock.

Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Easy ! I use Comodo Pro Firewall.
1) Click on DEFENSE box.
2) Click on "View Active Process List"
3) Look down the list of processes. Find APDPROXY.EXE.
4) Click it, then click "Terminate and Quarantine"
5) ALL DONE ! No more icon in tray and the program is killed.
APDPROXY - This is lurking about, you can find it on SEARCH from the START button. BUT, you cannot delete it or move it and MSCONFIG does not work. You can disable it as many times as you like - it will keep coming back.
SOLUTION ! Download CCleaner, it is a great little program and free.
Using this you can click on TOOLS, then STARTUP. A list of programs are shown which are enabled at STARTUP. Disabling does not work, just click on APDPROXY and click DELETE. It`s GONE !
All over in a flash - no more ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER.

No. Iphone stores nothing to SIM. You should be syncing contacts to your computer.

How do I remove CS6 App Manager under CC

I'm running OS X Mavericks, and have CC installed, along with CS6. Amongst the many (many) issues that I've encountered with CC, I noticed that I still get the CS6 menulet in the menu bar, as well as the CC menulet.
How can I remove the CS6 menulet, so that I'm left ONLY with the CC version. When I launch CS6 App Manager, it switches immediately to the CC app manager, so I can't access the CS6-specific preferences.
The CC manage shows me all my CS6 and CC products, so why does the CS6 manager insist on wasting space and CPU cycles in my menu bar?
Has anyone managed to turn this off?

Well, if anyone else is having the same issue, I have found a way around it.
I opened Dreamweaver CS6, chose 'Check for updates' from the Help menu, and the CS6 manager popped up – from there, I could set the preferences correctly.
All sorted now. Not sure if it will work with other CS6 apps (I think I can remember InDesign CS6 opening the CC app manager), but give it a try.

Just ignore it. The installer for this update left your old GarageBand version installed. It is in a subfolder "GarageBand 6.0.5" of Applications. Just use this version, until the inevitable teething troubles of a new GarageBand 10.0 have been solved.
