How do i remove the top cover for the K410?

I spilled water on the top of my computer, and it messed up one of the USB ports on the top of it...  now the computer constantly pops up connect/disconnect messages.  I want to take the top bezel (or cover, or whatever it's called) off so that i can disconnect (or cut) the cable to that USB port, but i cant figure out how to remove it.  Does anyone know how to take it off?  It's the very top of the machine, which has the power button and 4 or 5 inputs.
Both USB cables go into one plug at the motherboard, otherwise i would just disconnect it there.  I suppose i could cut one of them at the motherboard, but i want to make sure im cutting the right one.
Thanks for any help.

Just guessing, if water is should dry in a day or two and not be a problem.  Also, guessing, probably have to pull the side cover to get access to release the top.

  • Hi, I'm currently browsing the web looking for a case that is compatible with the smart cover for the iPad 2. If anyone has any suggestions I would be glad to read all opinions! Thanks!

Hi, I'm currently browsing the web looking for a case that is compatible with the smart cover for the iPad 2. If anyone has any suggestions I would be glad to read all opinions! Thanks!

I love the Smart Cover. It fits the way I work and I love the instant on/off and the always available screen protection. I wouldn't use my iPad without it.
I got a Cover Buddy for the back, because I wanted the back to be less slippery when I'm using the iPad in the classroom, teaching. I picked this back cover because it's VERY lightweight, easy to get on or off and, protects the corners, has accurate cutouts for the ports, and (in the colors) has a rubberized surface:

I have a Built NY "hoody" slip on case with a hard internal shell that I use when I'm in the field and I can put the iPad with the Smart Cover and the Cover Buddy inside this . But for everyday use, the Smart Cover with the Cover Buddy is a terrific combination.

The best cover is the one that suites your needs. Try Google. There are dozens on the market.
As for the Apple Smart Cover, it does work with the new iPad. There are a few reported issues with it, but that doesn't come close to representing the totality of folks with it.

  • Is there going to be a better cover than the smart cover for the ipad3 , the smart cover is crap!

My so called smart cover is useless, falls off doesn't stay supported up, all it does it put it to sleep. Is there a better cover coming for this?

Since Apple never released a "better" cover for the iPad2, I wouldn't count on it - but if Apple is planning releasing a new cover they haven't announced it, and nobody here can speculate (by terms of this forum) on what Apple might do.
That having been said, there are hundreds (thousands?) of covers available from other manufacturers, in a wide range of form and function, many of which work with the new iPad, and undoubtedly many more will be coming out soon now that the case manufacturers can tweak existing models to work with the 3rd generation. Do a search for "ipad covers" and see what you can find that meets your needs.

  • Does the new cover for the ipad2 work on the ipad1?

Does the new magnetic cover for the ipad 2 work on the ipad1 ?

No. It's specifically designed for the newer model.

  • What is the best cover for the Ipod 16 in your opinion?

    Hi,
    I would like to buy a cover for my Ipod Touch 16. I would like something that doesn't interfear with the use of the touchscreen but at the same time protects my Ipod from scratches and damage. I appreciate your comments and advice. :o}

I use a combination of 2 things. I use the DLO leather folio hipcase in addition to the power support anti-glare film set. The leather folio hipcase keeps my iPod touch hidden when the flap is closed when I am on the subway and is very stylish with soft leather. It also protects the screen and the rest of the iPod touch. The power support anti-glare film set is not your a normal screen protecter it protects from scratches, finger prints and also allows better traction of the touch screen and last but not least has an anti-glare function. The power support anti-glare film set is more expensive than other screen protecters but can be reapplied and doesnt leave a sticky residue (static-cling instead.
Here are the links for both:

  • Since the last update the apple that lights up on the top (cover) of the computer stays lit when I close the computer.  It used to go off, not it is always on unless I actually turn the computer completely off.  How do I fix or change this?

Is there a setting to chage or a way to fix that?  I don't want to use all of the power because the light won't go off now.

THen that means it is most likely not going to sleep when the lid is closed.  Read this article in full and see if it resolves the issue.

  • Satellite A300D - Broken small strip on the underside of the top cover

When cleaning the cooling unit I broke a little cold strip running on the underside of the top cover near the power supply.
It does not seem to connect to anything.(i hadnt removed the2 screws in the battery area). It runs parallel to the stop/play/forward strip.
What is this strip for and would that prevent the power button from working??/

    > It does not seem to connect to anything.(i hadnt removed the2 screws in the battery area). It runs parallel to the stop/play/forward strip.
I assume you are talking about a thin plastic cover above the keyboard button row F1-F12 this is a simple cover covering the screws securing this keyboard
Its really pity that you broke this cover but this should not affect the functionality
Of course you can purchase an replacement from a Toshiba service provider in your country.

  • How can I remove the back cover for my ipod?

I need to remove the cover because my ipod seems to be suffering from a hardrive problem. It used to just cycle through all the songs in a playlist or randomly play 5 seconds and skip to the next song, but now it just makes a whirring noise when I try to turn it on and cannot get past the apple logo.
Sometimes I get the little unhappy ipod logo and the support website but thats it.
Iv tried going into diagnostic mode and attempting to run a few tests. It failed a USB test in this mode so i think that may be one of the problems with it.
Does anyone know of a fool proof way of removing the case so I can dis/reconnect the harddrive?
      Windows XP

Before you remove the back cover of your iPod - which will loss the warranty
    Read the following
he Sad iPods icon or folder with an exclamation mark are the toughest problems to deal with, and must do a Restore in order to fix it. However, when your iPod is showing this icon, it is probably too late for your computer to recognize the iPod.
    1. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    2. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
    Still can't see your iPod?
Several things could keep iPod from appearing in iTunes or in the Desktop/Finder when you connect it to your PC/Mac. The most likely causes are listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping iPod from appearing.
    3. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    4. Try another known-good FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    5. Try another known-good FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    6. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    7. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. We've found that in many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    8. Try to do an Erase (Disk Utility) on a Mac computer or a format with a PC (Disk Management tool) but ensure you choose the right Drive (your iPod not your Hard Disk of your computer). You may need to plug and unplug your iPod with the computer for several attempts, and switching around Format and Restore, and hope out of sudden, it will get recognized.
    9. Diagnostic mode solution – which I copied from a thread of a post from thinktwice
“Then I cam across this special Diganostics Mode that you can get to by resetting and then while the Apple is showing pressing the Select and backwards keys simultaneously. It bring up and weird Diagnostic utility witha a abunch of tests. Here is what I did
    - I tried the 5in1 test and got and error on Firewire.
    - I did the HDD R/W and surprisingly it passed.
    - I went on to the HDD scan. This supposedly tkaes acouple of minute so I waited. I think 4-5 dots appeared then nothing. The iPod started to get hot. THe disk was spinning away. After a while the battery got very low. THis test chews up the battery. So I escaped out by resetting and went to connect it to a power source.
My USB was dangling out of my computer and I was too lazy to get the Firewire AC adapter thing going so I connected expecting the whole lockup thing with iTunes. Surprise. IT was recognized immediately and has been working like a champ. So go figure.
Details on Diag mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
10.Let me ask you a question, if an iPod with no iPod software with it. When your connect it with a computer, what would happen?
Yeah, the computer will treat it as a fresh external hard disk, which will get force mounted, the computer will ask you to format the iPod. It does not really matter the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted iPod software on the iPod, after that the computer will recognize it.
Once it has been completed, eject your iPod, open the iPod updater and interestingly, you will able to do the Restore this time.
Base on the above, that's why I suggest Windows users who experience trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac machine or vice versa. PC computer will not recognize a Mac formatted iPod, but it will get mounted in an attempt to format your iPod.
But, if none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired. You can arrange for service at the iPod Service Website.
I have just read an interesting solution about the Sad iPod, it does make sense but the warranty will be waived once you open the iPod, I would not do it myself as I am not good on doing this

  • How do you remove back up data from the memory storage? my storage data states that i have over 80gb of data used for back ups and i dont know why as i use a external hard drive as a time machine .now my 250gb flash storage is nearly full

how do you remove back up data from the memory storage? my storage data states that i have over 80gb of data used for back ups and i dont know why as i use a external hard drive as a time machine .now my 250gb flash storage is nearly full.. HELP!

When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.

    Hello farahani hairon nizar,
If your Apple ID was changed from your old account, you may have to change it back to your old account to be able to sign out and then change it back after that is done. Take a look at the article below for more information.
