How do I remove Yahoo toolbar?

Hi, Somehow Yahoo toolbar has downloaded onto my pc. Yes I have downloaded a new software but it never asked me if I wanted Yahoo. I am very vigilant when I download software & I swear there was no mention of Yahoo.
I've been to the remove a software from the control panel on my windows 7 pc but there is no mention of Yahoo.
I've also checked the extensions on Firefox add ons but there is no Yahoo there either.
I've even removed Yahoo from the Registry and...
Yahoo still comes up!!!
I've searched various forums etc & none of them mention the problem I have.
Does anyone please know how to remove this toolbar I do not want from my pc?
Any help please would be appreciated.

okay while in the mist of posting that I was doing some digging in other hidden file areas....get ready to cheer all...i think we can nuke it now.
travel on your windows 7 boxes to C:\Users\<your user name here>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\uh07uw1k.default\extensions\{635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1}
take note that there are a bunch of yahoo files and folders hidden inside there....
NUKE (delete) the folder 635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1 an yahoo toolbar and all of its trash is gone.if its not named the same for you just keep hunting in there and compare the install date of the toolbar and the date the files where made and you too can be free of this massive pain in the @$$ yahoo has created to collect data an just down right annoy you with.
Hope that this has helped all of you.....

I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like special toolbars at all. I find it irritating that you included one in the newest version of your browser. In the future I would hope you would leave this or any other out. Firefox used to be my favorite browser to use, now I am not going to want to use it because of the extra toolbar. Please tell me there is a way to remove this, not just hide it.

You can't move the Yahoo Toolbar from IE to Firefox, they are totally different "behind the scenes". However you can install it, [http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/ http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/] and I believe if you log in with your Yahoo account it will sync your data.

Just recently started using FireFox 4. Is a great browser and I intend to install in my new computer later this afternoon. How do I remove/delete yahoo's toolbar? Yahoo is my email but I don't need their toolbar messing up FireFox.

I removed it by clicking on the "Tools" menu, then select "Add-Ons." Once the list populates, click on "Extensions," then locate the Yahoo Toolbar. Off to the right hand side you can click either "Disable" or "Remove." I disabled it, restarted Firefox 4.0 and no annoying Yahoo toolbar :)

    Hi gunnermac,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]]. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If Yahoo has been set as the default search in the search bar, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Search bar]].
If the address bar search has been changed as well, you might want to take a look at [[Location bar search]].
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]].

What is the name of the toolbar?
It depends on how the toolbar was installed:
*Some are controlled by settings in the application that installed it
*Some are simple extensions and can be un-installed in Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
*Some are installed as programs and are un-installed in (Windows) Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs

  • Firefox 4 upgrade how do I reset Yahoo toolbar as its does not appear in dropdown VIEW list? Also Norton Internet Security 2011 does not flag up safe/unsafe sites on browser. Help

Just upgraded to Firefox 4. My Yahoo toolbar has disappeared and I can't work out how to reset it as it does not appear in the View drop-down list. Also NIS 2011 no longer flags up safe/unsafe sites when browsing.
    Thanks

For the Yahoo toolbar, make sure you have the latest version that is compatible with Firefox 4, available from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/yahoo-toolbar
Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Removing Yahoo Toolbar in Firefox 12

I cannot get rid of the Yahoo Toolbar in Firefox 12. It does not show up under extensions or add-ons.
I have eliminated all Yahoo programs (Toolbar, IM, and some updating program) in the control panel Add/Remove Programs.
I have restarted the Firefox in safe mode. There are still no Yahoo Add-ons or Extensions that show up.
I then went Help | Troubleshooting Information | Show Folder
    I clicked on Show Folder.
There's a folder called "Yahoo! Inc". When I open Yahoo Inc., there's another folder called ytoolbar. I have deleted Yahoo! Inc both when Firefox was open and when it was closed. As soon as I restart Firefox, the Yahoo Inc. folder is recreated.
I am unable to remove the Yahoo Inc. folder permanently.
    This is one invasive program.
How do I get rid of it?

I had problems following the discussion above. I managed to find the hidden directory containing all the Yahoo Toolbar files from this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    The directory is %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>\extensions\<Yahoo Toolbar directory>
    For example, mine was C:\Users\Chris Hollis\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\uh07uw1k.default\extensions\{635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1}
Deleting this directory did get rid of the Yahoo Toolbar for me.

  • Remove yahoo toolbar

i have NO option on my screen that included the word "edit". i have no option on my screen that allows any choice of toolbars EXCEPT to add more useless apps to a toolbar i don't want in the first. the ONLY place on my screen that shows the word "edit" is in the upper left hand corner and ONLY viewable if you click on firefox logo ... and right clicking the 'edit' in that icon accomplishes nothing - much like the useless resolutions to what is a very easily accomplished task in IE - tell me again how great firefox is ...

On my Firefox 20.0.1 / Windows 7 the Yahoo Toolbar was still present after uninstalling it from Control Panel -> ... ->Programs and Features which was obviously extremely frustrating.
In order to remove it, go to your account's AppData folder and just remove the folder containing the Yahoo Toolbar extension:
    c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\PROFILE.default\extensions\YAHOO_TOOLBAR_FOLDER
Replace USERNAME and PROFILE.default with your local settings.
I didn't write down the exact name of the YAHOO_TOOLBAR_FOLDER. It's one containing an "install.rdf" file which refers to Yahoo Toolbar.

security problems...how do I remove it?

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 23: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
