How do I rename a Mail box

Since I downloaded Mountain Lion 9.8.2 my Apple Mail box has been renamed with my personal password for all to see on my desktop. Not a good idea you might think but "rename mailbox is greyed out". Why and HELP!!!!!!!!

Found answer through sweat of my own brow. Please forgive airtime waste!! :-(((

As I said mail servers do have management interfaces. You need to find one and then determine what the management interface is.

If you mean additional email accounts then Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account
If mean email folders under an account, then at the moment you can't do it directly in the Mail app. If it's an IMAP type account then you should be able to login to your account on a browser and create them there, and they should then appears in the Mail app. If it's a POP type account then unfortunately you're stuck with what you've got. Who is email provider? What sort of email account is it - POP3, IMAP or Exchange? POP3 will work like this as with that whoever first downloads the latest mail from the server deletes it from there and so it's unavailable to other mail clients on other devices.
Either switch your email account to IMAP or change your POP3 account's settings so the new mails are not deleted for some time (a week, a month or whatever) after first download and are thus available to other devices also (IMAP is best solution but if POP3 is all that's available from whoever your provider is then you'll have to live with POP's limitations).

Iam sending mail using java, my mail format consisit of colored text and images,that should be diplsyed to reciever in mail box,my code is working fine reciever gets mail in inbox but problem is when we recieve mail like that images doesnot show up in the mail automaticaly,when i click on show images link in my mail box only then images become visible,i tested my mail in gmail,rediff and yahoo and in all cases i have to mannually click on "show images" link to view images that i sent with my mail,why so? is this due to security reasons in mailbox??? can i write such code that can overcome this problem i.e my images shows directly in anymailbox without clicking on showimages link.

IF it is a mailbox that you added to the account - when you are in the email account in the window that shows all of the mailboxes for the account - tap on the edit button - then tap on the mailbox that you want to remove - a new window will pop up with the red delete button in it. Tap it to delete the mailbox.

If you have Full Access permissions on your delegate mailbox, we
can configure your mail profile with that mailbox instead and add your own as a delegate mailbox.
In addition, we can use Macro code to set the From address programmatically which
works for any address that you have Send As or Send on Behalf Of permissions for.

How to reduce number of mail boxes on mac

I have 4 active email boxes and would like to reduce this to one. How do I do this please without removing them totally from the Mac?

The two headings pointed at with the arrows are what I am talking about. If you hover your cursor over them you will see the button named Hide on the right. Click on it to hide the heading and all items under it. This will work with all but the topmost one which is required as is by default.
It means to take the Google Mail account offline - receive no mail and send none from that account.

The 2 Apple "Geniuses" who wiped my computer after assuring me I'd backed up everything I needed clearly didn't think of mailboxes (Mail), events and albums (iPhoto), and playlists and ratings (iTunes) -- lost all of those. Would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me where to find the organizational files for Mail that contain the "smart" and regular mailboxes. Thank you!

Are you referring to mailboxes as in different email domain providers (AOL, Yahoo, GMail, etc???)
Or are you referring to mailboxes as in archived folders with various messages in each?
If the latter, have you considered moving it all to iCloud and not storing anything locally?
I have my folders/boxes in iCloud and dont' botehr with storing anything locally anymore. Too much pain to worry about saving the mailboxes on a USB stick any time you reinstall your OS X.
Moreover ,the new versions always needed to be updated after you imported them back into Mail app.
Just a thought....
Unless you have more than 5GB of mail stored, I woudl consider moving it to iCloud once and for all.

How do you get mailboxes set up on Bt yahoo in safari onto your apple e.mail app?

When you say Mailboxes, do you mean actual folders or the overall setting up of Yahoo mail on iPad? If overall setup then when you select Mail it should show some email suppliers, I believe Yahoo should be listed, if you select it, it should then ask for you details.
If you mean folders, if Yahoo is IMAP based if you create folders online via webmail, they should pull through to your iPad when the account has been set up.
Alternatively, if you have got mail up and running on your iPad and want a new folder, just select your account under the Accounts heading in Mail you should see a list of all the folders present, click EDIT in at the top of the screen, just to the right of where it is likely to say either Yahoo or BT and it will then give you the option to add a mailbox(FOLDER) at the bottom of the screen.

Well you need to make a decision.
You can have all those photos, as they are organised now, in an iPhoto Library.
or
You can have all those photos in a folder
Albums don't exist outside of iPhoto. The nearest you can do is select each Album in turn and export it to a folder on the external drive.
File -> Export

Go to MESSAGING, press OPTIONS, SETTINGS then EMAIL. Once there, MAILBOXES. Now you should be able to list all your accounts. Select the one you want, press OPTIONS, delete.
