How do I rename my DVD project?

I have a project in the works and did not realize I would only get one chance to name it. How do I go back and rename it? Is it too late?

  • How can I save my dvd project as a .mov file?

I'd like to post an iDVD project on youtube, but first I have to convert it to an .mov file.  How do I go about this?

Do you have the original source files that you used to create the iDVD project? You would get a better quality final product if you used the original source material to create a Quicktime movie file for uploading to YouTube.
Otherwise you will need to rip your DVD with an application like Handbrake to get a movie file of the content.  The resulting quality will be considerably less than the original source material.

  • Dvd Project... HELP...

How do I save a Dvd Project from my iBook G4 and burn it later on another computer? I'd heard something about it, is this possible?
    Please, i need help...
Maybe i'm wrong, but is there some way and save the project and transfer it to a PC (Windows)
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

ONce you are finished working with your iDVD project, you save it as a disk image. This disk image you can burn in any other computer with a DVD burner.
If the disk image is large, you will need to be patient to transfer it to another machine, (firewire is easier and faster, but there is also the option of ethernet or airport).
Now, if the machine on wich you want to burn is not a mac, you'll need to convert the dmg file (disk image, mac format) to an iso file (also a disk image, but one supported in windoes) before sending it to burn. You need to open the terminal (applications/utilities) and type:
    iutil convert /path/to/filename.dmg -format UDTO -o /path/to/savefile.iso
Replace /path/to/filename.dmg with the path and name of the existing .DMG file, and replace /path/to/savefile.iso with the desired path and name for the converted image.
That's it, your dvd project will burn as originally intended. Enjoy.

  • How do I put an iMovie project on DVD?  Cannot find iDVD...

I'm new to Mac.  I created a project in iMovie.  When I tried to share it to iDVD, it says cannot find iDVD.  How do I write a movie project to DVD?

It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.
You might try the approach that Ziatron gives in his post in this  topic to obtain a free copy: New Macbook Pro w/iLife - No iDVD: Apple Support Communities. If you're unsuccessful you can purchase the iLife disk from the link above.

  • How do I create a DVD from an iMovie '08 Project?

How do I create a DVD from an iMovie '08 Project? I followed the directions in the help section but when I open iDVD, my project is "grayed out" and I cannot open it in iDVD.

In general, in imovie Share to Media Browser or Share to iTunes.
Then open iDVD. Open the Media Browser in iDVD (at bottom right of window). Navigate to your movies and you should see the movie you made. Drag it in to the iDVD project.

  • How can I save my iMovie Project to a DVD or Flash Drive which can be played on a PC and any DVD player

I have an iMac, purchased in January 2011. How can I save an iMovie project to a DVD or Flash Drive which can be played on a PC or any DVD player

I will give you a basic primer, not going to get to in depth, as far as parameters, size of project, or the storage size of your usb flash drive, etc.
    1. you have your finished iMovie project. Under iMovie>Share menu. Choose export using quicktime.
    2. make Movie self contained. This way your Mov, Mvi, etc files will be part of the movie and it can play without having to reference the events, because it is actually there.
    3. so, now on your desktop  ( or any where else set up quicktime to save your file) you will see a quicktime file.
Drag & Drop that file on to the icon of your USB Flash Drive, etc.
    4. Details that I omitted because I admit I am not well versed. Most Likely that quicktime file is larger than your USB Flash Drive. You have to use one of quicktime compression work flows, also if you open the just created quicktime file. It will open quicktime player and under the File>Export you have to options. I have a Movie that was 42GB 1080P, I exported it as a 720P, so it would still be playable on a large screen and now the new file was less than 2.5GB.
    5. Oh, no i just realized that the file should be playable on a PC, as long as the PC has quicktime for windows installled and you left that USB formated at MS DOS as it came originally, or a PC will not recognize it. Will it open up on your Blu-Ray Player that has a USB port, not sure. Since there is no menu. but, perhaps just pushing play will start movie.
Hope this is of some help.

  • Huge DVD-9 project needs two Dual Layer discs - How to build a from single project?

    Hello Encore Pros,
I have a DVD project with about 5 hours of video media and it won’t fit on a single DVD-9.  It has to be built onto TWO Dual Layer DVDs.   I’ve created the project as ONE BIG PROJECT in Encore CS6 (Mac Pro 10.7.5) with lots of menus, buttons, timelines, and media.  Here’s the $20,000 question: how will Encore know to build the project onto two DVD-9 discs?  Can I program it to do this and if so, how?  Or do I need to break the project into TWO SEPARATE PROJECTS (both dual layer) and burn individually?   If so, can I simply duplicate the full project and delete all movies/menus/timelines not needed for each new half?  And if that’s the case, I know there'll be some revising elements like setting a new 1st play on disc 2 and some End Action links, etc., but that I can deal with.  I suppose I’d name the two new dual layer projects xxx_pt1 and xxx_pt2.   On the plus side, the Check Project comes up with no errors, so that’s good so far.  Oh, "the horror....... the horror” to quote “Apocalypse Now”
-- Thanks in advance for help and suggestions.

Bill Hunt is still MIA. See this link for his instructions on doing the sort of process I was describing.
Re: Multiple (different) DVD outputs from a single Encore project
In a similar thread, Hunt refers to a more detailed piece he did on "multi-disc" authoring. But he didn't find the link, and neither have I!
Edit: Not it, but may add something:

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • How can I burn an iMovie project onto DVD?

I just finished a project on iMovie. I need to burn a copy on a DVD.
IDVD does work for my needs. The old versions of iMovie had an option to burn DVDs.
So... how can one burn an DVD copy without using iDVD?
Also best program to convert file format from iMovie ... i.e. Windows computer?

So why not use iDVD? If you don't have it:

Yes, iDVD is probably best for you.  Toast is also good, but if you are on a budget, Burn is a free download:
