How do I reorder iPhoto Books

How do I reorder iPhoto Books?

You have to order the book and send it again to Apple. But iPhoto Print Projects (books, cards) cannot be opened in Aperture.
So you need to open your library in iPhoto to print/reprint any IPhoto Book it contains.
In Aperture 3.4 you can switch to iPhoto by selecting "File > Open Library in iPhoto",
In Aperture 3.1/3.2 quit Aperture and launch iPhoto with the ⌥ held down, to be able to select the library.

  • How to fix lost connections to original high-resolution pictures in iPhoto and how to import an iPhoto Book from one iPhoto library to another

    Hi there,
I am using a MBP Pro with 8 GB cache and 1 TB HDD from beginning of 2011 with OS X Yosemite and iPhoto version 9.6 (910.29).
I created an iPhoto Book to print which contains my best pictures of 2013 and 2014. Then I got an error message when I wanted to print the book, saying (translated from German):
    Book could not be created.
With photo p233432343.jpg there was an error. The original version of that photo with full resolution could not be found or is damaged. Please replace the photo or delete it from your book.
When I enquired further, I found out, that many, many pictures in my iPhoto library have that problem - only the thumbnail picture is found by iPhoto, but not the one with the high resolution. When looking at the photos in detail one sees that they are not sharp because obviously the photo book only refers to the thumbnail. When I went into the iPhoto Library using Finder, I saw that the original high res photos are still there. As there are an estimated 3000 photos with a lost connection (some still have, it but about 1/2 of my photos don´t), it does not make sense to import those photos manually. This photo book is just the tip of the iceberg, so to say.
Then I looked for solutions in some forums. I had two lPhoto libraries, one on my HDD (120GB) and one on an external HDD (175GB). Assuming there might be problems, I have deleted (moved) the one on my HDD, because the "right one" is the one on my external HDD and started iPHoto again using the alt key. But that did not work either.
I then tried to repair my iPhoto library using iPhoto Library Manager, and merged and rebuilt libraries. The library that came out was crap - all folders that had lost connections to the high resolution pictures now have zero photos in it. Also it is lacking the projects, including the photo book I created.
Then I went to find out if there is a way to import the iphoto book project from the old, corrupt library into the new, repaired library but could not find anything. It can only be exported as a file structure or website. As the file structure is missing the high res pictures, that does not even solve the "little" problem of the photobook.
I would REALLY appreciate your help on the two questions:
1- Can you advise what I need to to do to to get the connection to the high resolution photos established again  ? As it is more than 3000 photos, I use an automated way of reestablishing that connection. Probably an answer to this question would make question 2 irrelevant.
2- Do you know if there is a way to export and import a book project created in iPhoto from one library to another ?

1 - Select  the thumbnail of one of the problem photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  This will take you to the folder containing the original file with that file selected by the Finder.
You can also use Find Any File to search for that file (get the file name from the Info pane in iPhoto). You will find the thumbnail version and maybe an edited version also.  Made sure what is found is the large, original version and note were it's located.  Search all of your drives with FAF just in case.
If you don't fine the full sized version then the only recourse is to use a file recovery application like   SubrosaSoft FileSalvage on your drives to see if any of your full sized photos can be recovered.   If you find enough files to make the purchase of the software worthwhile buy it and recover the files.  However, since it may have been quite a while since you discovered the missing originals it seems unlikely you'll be able to recover any due to being overwritten.
2 - book projects are just entries in the library databases and can't be exported to another library.

  • How to recover an iphoto book from backup

    Hello,
My wife managed to accidentally delete a 75 page iphoto book she's been working on for months.  I have a backup of our iphoto library at an offsite location (read: not a time machine) and am in the process of transferring a copy of it to my local machine.  However, since the entire iphoto library is 80+ gb, I would prefer to only recover this book if at all possible.  I've done some digging through the iphoto library and have found the book in the /iPhoto Library/Metadata Backup/Albums/Album.18008.ipmeta.  I have recovered this file from my backup and placed it back into this folder on my local computer, but unfortunately this hasn't restored the book in iphoto itself.  I'm assuming there are other pointers hidden throughout the database that also will need to be restored to make this book show up again in iphoto.  Has anyone dealt with this problem before and managed to recover a deleted book without restoring the entire iphoto library?
    Thank you,
    Dennis

You must recover the entire iPhoto library. Books are not a seperate item but are database entries
And it is critical that you do not muck around inside the iPhoto library. There are no user serviceable parts in it and if you make and changes you may corrupt it and cause data loss

  • How do I print iPhoto books in another country?

My iPhoto '09 automatically points to the US site for printing books. I would like to get it to use the UK site and have delivery in the UK. How do I change the settings to achieve this?
    Regards
    Jim

It should. You don't need to create a new account. Just change your online account information that's used with the 1-Click buying in your current account and that should get you to a UK print site so you can ship to a UK address.
However, I may have been wrong in my first response. In the iPhoto 08 Order and Printing Options the following is stated about European orders:
+Customers with a billing address in Europe can have their orders shipped to any European country where iPhoto Internet services are available. To see a list of countries where Internet services are available, see Related Topics below.+
I should imagine that hasn't changed with newer version of iPhoto. The original document is Which regions and countries print products can be shipped to.
Don't know if you have time to contact Apple at http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/contact_us/ to see about your German credit card.

  • How do I share iPhoto Book

I used to be able to copy a project book to a hard drive, then show it to a client on their laptop. Then she could make changes if necessary. But with iPhoto 11, I can't seem to move/export/copy anything to the book projects.
    Any suggestions?

Synneve1:  I tried your Print to PDF suggestion, and it worked great.  But I got the same white border along the top and the right side.
In my print dialog box there is a setting that allows you to change the Scale.  I set my Scale to 102% and it was just enough to get rid of that ugly white border without changing the overall look of the page.
Just thought I would pass along the tip!

  • How much is an iphoto book to create and buy?

    ?

The price will depend on the format and the number of pages. You can only create books in iPhoto on the Mac, not on your handheld devices.  See this page for the prices:

  • How do I find the 'invisible' pdf file of the iphoto book?

    Hi!
Under Panther, there was a technique for finding the pdf file that iPhoto created of the book that was sent to be printed. Since I last tried this technique, I upgraded both machine and system. Now the technique doesn't work. At least I can't find the right pdf file, anywhere.
Has Apple changed how it creates the iphoto books? Is there a new way of naming the resulting pdf files? I'd like to check the file before ordering the book.
    Thanks!

    Try this way:
How to Find the iPhoto Generated PDF File:
1 - Start the ordering process and stop after the book has been assembled.
2 - Since Spotlight cannot find and display invisible files it is difficult to locate the iPhoto generated pdf file. I use the application Kilometre, which does show invisible files, to locate and copy the PDF file to the desktop. You can also use a 3rd party application like Cocktail or TinkerTool to make all invisible file visible for this purpose but don't forget to make them invisible again after you're done.
3 - The file will be located in your HD/private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/iPhoto folder. You can then Option-drag it to the desktop to get a copy of it.
4 - Preview the PDF file and then, if satisfactory, you can continue with the ordering process.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.
    O.T.

  • Exporting iphoto books for printing at local printing services

Does anybody know how to export an iphoto book for printing at local printing services, other than Apple printing services?
I tried to export, but the only option available was to "export to iDVD", which is not very helpful (does not generate a printable file).
    I'd appreciate any hints...

    Yanomami:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What you want to
do is do a print to pdf. Then take the pdf file to
the printing service to be printed.
Thank you for the tip. One follow up question: does PDF file have the right photo quality/definition to print a book, or would it be better to export to a TIFF file or some other type? If so, how to export to TIFF then?
Thanks again for any help you can offer.

  • IPhoto Book Size limit

    Hello
Can anyone tell me if there's a limit to the number of pages you can get printed in a book?
And... can anyone tell me why, when I try to buy the book online, the quantity drop down box is shaded out?
    Thanks...

    Hi Mary,
I am using iPhoto 6, and I see in another of your posts that you say you are using iPhoto 5, so I do not know if how I make an iPhoto Book movie will work for you. Would it be possible for you to update to iPhoto 6?
So remember, these directions are for iPhoto 6 which I have. No, I do not "put music just to the photo album that feeds my iPhoto Books and then play a slide show in iPhoto". Rather, I create a book in iPhoto. Then when I click "Play" to "play the book" in iPhoto, a screen/menu shoots down that allows me to choose my "Settings" and/or my "Music" that I want to go along with my book. Under "Settings", then under "Transitions", I like to choose "Page Flip" to look like a real book with turning pages, plus I can choose which direction I want the pages to flip. I can also set the number of seconds per page that I want each slide/page to show. Then under "Music", depending on how long the book is, I can choose the appropriate length/style of music from Sample Music, or iTunes music, to go along with the book I have created. Once I have chosen my "Setting" & "Music" I then click on "Save Settings" still on the shoot-down menu. I then play/preview through the book, with pages flipping, and music in the background, just to check if I need to make any corrections, or if I am okay to proceed.
If I am happy with the photo positions on each page, the music, & the transitions, I then go to the Main iPhoto menu at the top of my computer and under "Share" the "Send to iDVD" can be chosen [I am assuming that you have an iDVD burner, Mary [although you will not really be burning a disc for this project]?
At this point, Mary, I am repeating what I had typed into my original post on this topic:
Once I have prepared my iBook, I can use the pull down menu in iPhoto for "Share" and there send the iBook project to "Send to iDVD" where the iBook is converted to use by iDVD. This may take a few minutes, but iDVD will open it. At that point, just quit it and click on "Don't Save" when you are asked if you want to save. Next, check in your finder where your movies are saved. There you should find the name of your book if you named it, or "untitled book" if you did not. Yep, it is saved. Once you locate your book, you can double click on it and watch your book in Quick-Time Player. I not only watch the books I make on my computer, but also load them on to my iPod.
I hope this is clear, but if you have any more questions, just let me know. I love the way this method for preparing a book/video turns out for my own uses. It really looks like a book with the photos positioned on each page as I choose them to look.
This is a different topic than the above: I only used the PDF method of making a book/movie that has been suggested to me, and to you, when I created a book OVER 100 pages which iPhoto will NOT allow. With the PDF pages, I was able to create two volumes to the book, and then save them to PDF pages, and then combine those two files, and put them together in my iDVD program by making a slideshow that was put together to resemble a page flipping book. That book/movie had 165 pages of photos with music.

  • How can I turn my French apple account into Australian one to be able to buy a Iphoto book I've made?

    hi
How can I turn my french apple account into an Australian one , to be able to buy a Iphoto book I 've created ?

And you need to set the "Print Products Store" in the iPhoto Preferences "Advanced" to the country you are in. The credit card you will be using with your AppleID needs to be valid in the country your AppleID is registered to. Will you be staying permanently in Australia? Maybe it wuld be simpler to create a second AppleID just for the time of your stay there.

  • HT204655 How can I access a iPhoto book from time machine without it being modified by Photos?

When I updated to Yosemite I didn't realize the ramifications for iPhoto (silly me). When I migrated my iPhoto library to Photos I have somehow lost a couple of iBooks I had created. I have a number of older iPhoto books under projects, just not the most recent ones. I have checked my other libraries and they are not there. I realized that Apple might have the book in their system from the print order I made a few weeks ago, which they did. And I was able to reorder the book from my invoice for the last order and with help from some very nice Apple support people. However they cannot migrate the book back to me. So now I need to try and find it so I don't have to recreate it. I think it must be in Time Machine somewhere but I am afraid if I find it and try to reinstall it, Yosemite will do something with it. I have noticed when I opened another book that Yosemite said the format was no longer available and reformatted it to another template. Help.

So when I try to uodate iPhoto from my applications folder I am told to uplate IT from the App Store and when I go there I am told the updae is not available in Canada.
You can no longer buy iPhoto from the appStore anywhere, and also not update it from the "Updates" tab of the AppStore. You can reinstall it, if it is showing among your Purchases at the App Store and associated with your AppleID.
Sign into the AppStore look at the Purchases tab.  If you do not see iPhoto there, try to unhide your Purchases as described on this page:   Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
If iPhoto shows on your Purchases tab, reinstall as described in this User Tip:
Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities
The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.
You may need to unhide your Purchases, if you do not see iPhoto on the Purchases page when you sign into the AppStore with your AppleID:
See this link:  Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
