How do I replace Admin account with transferred account?

Just setup my new Imac. Used migration assistant to transfer via firewire my existing account from my Macbook. The transferred account shows up on my new Imac in accounts under "other accounts".
HOW do I replace my Main User Account with my newly transferred Macbook account as I don't want both accounts; just the one I transferred to serve as the main account? The option to delete the main account in system preferences > accounts is greyed out.
Thx.

For new Macs, I usually try to quit the setup assistant as soon as it will let me.
I define an initial account that has no personal information, and a user called "Master", or "Administrator", or something similar.
This account is then the bare bones original account as set up by OSX, and I never change it.
In this way, if an account becomes corrupt, I can always go back to this clean, unaltered account, and delete old (or add new) administrative accounts as necessary.
This would work for your condition as well. Just keep the new imported account as your main user, and the original account setup when the machine was new becomes your "backup" Master.

how can i delete admin accounts on imac running lion

Apple says that admin accounts should be only used for tasks that require them, and not for any other reason. Apple even goes so far as to say to never browse the web or check email while logged in to an admin account.
The reason is for security. When logged in to an admin account, everything you do, every program and process you run, runs with elevated admin privileges. Running with higher privileges than is necessary can be a security risk. There is no reason for your web browser, for example, to be running all the time with admin rights.
If you're currently running as admin it's easy to switch. Make a new admin account, and change your previous account from admin to standard. You can then continue using your old account as you always have.
You'll find that you rarely if ever need to actually log in to the admin account. Nearly all admin and even root tasks, like installing software, can be done from any non-admin account, by entering the admin username/password when prompted.

  • How do I replace the organiser with a new one

How do I replace the organiser with a new one

The problem is to understand your question (or your two questions : do you both mean the same thing ?)
An answer to Hatstead question would help.
1 - Do you really mean using another software to organize your workflow ?
2 - Do you mean using other softwares based on folders rather than databases ?
3 - Or do you mean working with different catalogs ?
If you don't want to use the Organizer, it's not possible to 'delete' it, but it is simple not to use it.
Most other organizing solutions include the choice of selecting PSE editor as the external editor
There are various solutions depending on your platform : Windows, Mac, Linux...
It's important to know if you prefer the folders or database organization to suggest possible solutions.

  • How do i replace my ipad with a new model in itunes?

I'm replacing an iPad with an iPad 3rd generation and will be gifting the iPad to a friend.
What steps do I need to take in iTunes for this to run smoothly?
I want to end up with:
    1) The new iPad working but with all of my data, screen layouts and settings from my old iPad.
    2) The old iPad "de-registered" (if that's possible/necessary) and reset to factory default conditions with no data present and working on myfriends iTunes account.
Is 1) as simple as backing up the original iPad in iTunes and plugging the new one in and restoring from the old backup? Possible complication: I get the "This iPad is synced with another computer. Do you want to erase and restore..." message whenerver I plug it in, although it does seem to sync when I cancel the "erase and restore" dialog. Would this complicate things?
Re 2), my friend has an iPhone 4 and uses iTunes already. Is plugging in my "wiped" iPad all he needs to do? How do I reset the original iPad?
I hope that these are simple questions, already encountered by many of you, but myself and my friend are at the stage where we have both only had one apple product and have never had to manage another device in iTunes so we just don't know what to expect and don't want to lose any data!
Thanks in advance for your time and help!

  • How can I replace iCloud contacts with up-to-date contacts on my Macmini?

Originally I used iCloud when it first was released. My contacts went into the cloud.  I stopped using iCloud and maintained my Contacts on my Macmini. All of my up-to-date information which includes additional contacts and revisions are on the Mac mini.  iCloud wants to work with my old information but I'd rather replace the information on iCloud with the information on my computer.  How can I replace what's in iCloud with my edited and updated information?

Open Address Book on your Mac, click All Contacts, select a single contact, press Command-A to select them all (they should all be highlightes), then go to File>Export>Export vCard and save this on your desktop.  Then delete all your iCloud contacts by going to icloud.com on your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the gear-shaped icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard to delete them all.  Then click on the gear-shaped icon again, choose Import vCard and navigate to the vCard you saved earlier to import your contacts to iCloud.

  • How do I replace quotation marks with double angle quotation marks, still keeping the word in the mi

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to replace quotation marks with double angle quotation marks, still keeping the word in the middle?
For example: I search for a word with quotation marks by typing in: (")(\w+)(") in the "find what" field. What should I type in the "change to" field?
I'd be very grateful for answers!

It's much simpler: find " and replace with " (make sure that 'Use typographer's quotes' is enabled in the preferences).

I usually just write over the file with the same file name, often with DVDSP closed.
If you're doing an m2v file and the duration has changed, just go the the end of the clip in the track and drag it right as far as you can. Otherwise it'll replace the asset but use the previous version's duration.

  • In iWork 09, Numbers, how do I replace a formula with calculated results for a whole column?

I have a rather large Numbers spreadsheet.  I have used a formula to create a new column of information.  I now want to replace the formula with the actual results calculated by that formula for each cell in that column, so that I can delete some of the other columns.  How do I do that?

Copy the cells with the results, then select the destination cell, and use the menu item "Edit > Paste Values".
You may want to paste to a different location in case you need the source data or formulas in the future.

    Hi Roshni,
I guess this CASE clause can be simulated by a DECODE and also it is very easy to use.
    Refer -- http://www.techonthenet.com/oracle/functions/decode.php
    select decode(t1.state,t2.state_id,t2.state_name), t1.count_id
    from <table_2> t2, (select state,count(id) count_id
    from <table_name>
    where composite_dn= <composite_dn_name>
    group by state) t1
    where t1.state = t2.state_id;HTH

  • How can I replace the Portal with completely new Flash website?

Can I replace the Portal with completely new Flash website? My customer do not want the JSP UI. Instead, he wants a completely new designed Flash site. Is it possible to do it? How can I deploy a new portal to cover the current one?

If you have a look at some of the code examples which do the equivalent of site maps, you could in theory replace the whole portal desktop with some sort of Flash framework which reads the user's role structure at run time.
I think it is useful to remember that the SAP portal is primarily a business application launchpad. It does that very well. Trying to make it into a Flash launchpad will be challenging.

  • How do I repair admin account permissions in OS 10.6.8?

An attempted installation of the the Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro 1.3 has failed (stopped before installing) showing an Error = 1. The folks at Canon pro support say this is a Mac OS error, and recommended that I need to repair my admin account permissions. They suggested the following:
    1. Enable a "root user"
    2. Repair permissions under the root user account
    3. Login under admin account (hopefully now repaired) and attempt plugin installation again
Has this happened to any other FCP users and does this sound like the right process?
Is there a support article that documents the first two steps above or do I need to do this over the phone with Mac Customer Care?
Thanks in advance for everyone's advice!
    Joseph

No, that error code has nothing to do with permissions. It may mean your system installation has some dysfunction. If the above doesn't fix things, then reinstall Snow Leopard:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
