How do I reset access priveleges for iTunes?

I'm getting access priveleges denied when trying to copy files into
iTunes. I've run "Repair Permissions" from Disk Utility and some other
funky script through the terminal and neither worked.
If I do a clean install of Tiger, will this problem go away?

Make sure iTunes is not running. Click your iTunes folder once (in ~/users/your user name/Music)
Press command and i keys or click File > Get Info.
At the bottom of the Get Info panel you will see "Ownership & Permissions". Click the triangle to reveal further options, if it is not already showing.
Click on the lock. You may be asked for an administrator password at this point.
Change, or make sure the settings are:
You Can: Read & Write
You may have to click the triangle marked "Details" to see and modify the following options.
Owner: your user name
Access: Read & Write
Group: your user name
Access: Read only
Others: Read only
Click the "Apply to enclosed items" button. Click OK in the alert box to confirm.
This last action may take a moment to complete. Be patient.

    Hello FranBNYC
It sounds like a permissions issue with your library, check out the article below to check and make sure that things are set correctly.

  • When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Please help. My ipod classic could not be recognised by itunes when I connect my ipod to PC. Previously it has been recognised before I updated. This was a while ago now and so I removed all apple files and re installed the latest itunes but am having the same problem.
When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.
If you are getting this problem with iTunes, check to see if your anti-virus has this setting and unset it, at least for as long as the iTunes install requires. Exactly how to find the rule and turn it on and off will vary, depending upon your anti-malware software. However, if your anti-virus or anti-malware software produces a log of its activities, examining the log may help you find the problem.
For example, here's the log entry for McAfee:
9/23/2009 3:18:45 PM Blocked by Access Protection rule NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\iPod Service Common Maximum Protection:Prevent programs registering as a service Action blocked : Create
Note that the log says "Common Maximum Protection: Prevent programs registering as a service". The "Common Maximum Protection" is the location of the rule, "Prevent programs registering as a service" is the rule. I used that information to track down the location in the McAfee VirusScan Console where I could turn the rule off.
After I made the change, iTunes installed without complaint.

  • "The iPod...cannot be synced. You do not have access priveleges for this...

I'm trying to play the songs in my 80GB iPod through my computer at work. However, every time a new song comes on, a prompt screen pops up that says, "the ipod...can not be synced. You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation." I have all settings on manual. If it's because I have authorized too many computers, how to I reset that function without resetting the whole thing? This thing is driving me nuts!

I'm trying to play the songs in my 80GB iPod through my computer at work. However, every time a new song comes on, a prompt screen pops up that says, "the ipod...can not be synced. You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation."
I suspect this might be either a security software issue or a folder permissions issue.
What security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware) do you have on the PC at work? Is it set to scan attached storage drives?
What operating system does the work PC use? XP, Vista or 7? Does your user account on that PC have full administrative rights, or do you have less rights than that?

This works even for my ipod on my computer. I recently time machined myself and when i open intunes it always does all that backgroud magic and  pops up saying "....You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation."
It turns out i don't need that, because i do not use sync. I do not sync. I don't use the sync. I abstain from getting my sync on...etc.
The first solution posted above works, i'll repeat it but  credit goes to King_Penguin a true friend from the motherland! Just find this one file and delete it.

  • How to create the Access sequence for the Vendor+material+plant combination

    Hi all
Please let me know How to create the Access sequence for the Vendormaterialplant combination..
Whats the use? What its effect in purhcase and taxe..
    brief me please

    Hi,
you are asked to maintain the access sequence for the tax condition for which you are putting 7.5%.
goto OBQ1 or img..financial accounting new...global settings.... taxes on sales and purchases ......basic settings.....
find the tax condition type. see in it which access sequence is attached.
if there is none then use JTAX used for taxes in India.
or you can create the similar one for your.
to create the same goto OBQ2.
    new entry or copy JTAX.
and assign the access sequence to condition type.
this will resolve your problem if you just need to assign the access sequence.
