How do I reset Airport Extreme Model A1034?

How do I reset Airport Extreme Model A1034?
I am using a MacBook Pro to set up the airport, but, I get this message:
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information."

You would download and install AirPort Utility on the PC.
For Windows 7 and above.....use AirPort Utility 5.6.1 for Windows - Support - Apple
For XP SP3 and Vista SP2......use AirPort Utility 5.5.3 for Windows - Support - Apple
For XP SP2 and Vista SP1......use AirPort Utility 5.4.2 for Windows - Support - Apple

  • I need the the latest firmware for Airport Extreme Model A1034 (M8799LL/A)

    Hello everybody:
I want to flash my Airport Extreme Model A1034(M8799LL/A)with the latest firmware available..
    My Airport have a internal modem , 1 Wan , 1 Ethernet & 1 USB ports
I checked some firmware updates, but I am not sure what is the correct update ..
I don't want to ruin my Airport for flashing the Airport with the wrong update ..
I only have Windows Xp computers ,, I need a Mac to do it ?
Please somebody help me to find the update ,,
    Thanks in advance ,,

Do you know if this is still the case? (Version 5.7 is still the latest available for the 802.11g version of the AirPort Extreme Base Station).
I'm a little confused after the release of AirPort Base Station Update 2007-002 for Windows:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportbasestationupdate2007002forwindows .html
It clearly states that "AirPort Utility v5.2.1 software supports the AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n, AirPort Extreme Base Station and AirPort Express Base Station." But then if you read the System Requirements it says that you need:
    * Windows XP with Service Pack 2
    * Windows Vista
    * AirPort Utility 5.0 or later
    * AirPort Extreme Base Station with *802.11n*
So what is the latest version for the 802.11g version of the AirPort Extreme Base Station?
    Thanks

  • Need Airport Extreme Model: A1034 Manual (or IP address) for security

I have an older Airport Extreme Model: A1034 that I'd like to add an access security code to. I don't have the manual any longer and am wondering if anyone knows the URL address and password I'd need to get into an admin level view in order to set the Wireless security.

Hello september132003. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The default LAN-side IP address of the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) is: 10.0.1.1. The default base station administrator password is: public.
However, you will need to use the AirPort Utility to administer the AEBS. Unlike other vendor products, the AEBS does not use a web-based type utility for administration.
Although the AirPort Utility should be installed with your OS X Leopard, you can get a copy of it from here: AirPort Utility 5.3.2 for Leopard
You can get a copy of the AEBS Setup Guide from here: AirPort Extreme Base Station Setup Guide

  • How do I reset Airport extreme via that wee pinhole

I once reset my Airport Extreme via the pinhle on the back (Courtesy of Bob Timmons instructions). I cannot remember the details of how to do it. Any help?

    Welcome back!
I assume that you want to wipe out the current settings and get back to a "start over" condition, correct?
With the AirPort Extreme powered on, hold in the reset button on the back of the device for 10-12 seconds and then release.
The AirPort Extreme will restart as solid amber, then after 20-25 seconds it will slowly blink amber. That is your signal that the device has been reset.

  • How do I reset airport extreme A1408 to use on different network after buying new Extreme?

I have just bought and set up new Airport ExtremeA1521 and want to take my old one and set up at son's.  It is A1408.  Will doing a reset do all I need to do?  And then I want to hook up an Express to it to extend his network.
    Thanks.

Power up the old AirPort Extreme for a minute or two, then hold in the reset button on the device for 8-10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the AirPort Extreme to restart back to a slow, blinking amber light status.
The network settings on the AirPort Extreme are now reset back to factory defaults, and you can now set up the AirPort Extreme to create a new network with a network name and password of your choice.
Then, the Express can be set up to extend the network. If you have a new Express, it will already be set to factory defaults, so all that is needed is that device be set up to connect to the AirPort Extreme.  If the Express has been previously set up, then it will first need to be reset back to factory default settings, before it can be set up again to extend the AirPort Extreme network.

  • Airport Extreme Model A1034...How do you OPEN NAT!?!....Will give points....Please help

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me out I currently own a Airport Exterme Base Station Model Number A1034 older version. My problem is with xbox live. I have always been able to connect wirelessly with my xbox 360 with no problems. I know in order to play Xbox live you have to have an OPEN NAT setting. Which im pretty sure I've always had because I would never get any problems. I have no idea what NAT means and I am not tech savy what so ever.
Recently I decided I wanted to create a new network and delete my old one. I did so and everything was fine with the internet but my problem lies with my xbox live now. For some reason it's saying that I now have a Moderate NAT and I will experience difficulties when on xbox live. I am wondering is there a way to OPEN NAT? I tried looking for it in airport ulitlity and I found it but like I said im not tech savy. Under the NAT settings there are two options ENABLE DEFAULT HOST AT & ENABLE NAT PORT MAPPING PROTOCOL. I have no idea what that means I though it would just let you choose between Strict, Moderate, Or Open NAT but unfortunately it doesn't. So can anyone help me I will give points. Thank you in advance!!

Please check out the following Apple Discussions post for assistance. Hopefully, it will address your Open NAT issue.

  • Extending extreme model A1034 with express model A1264, Extending extreme model A1034 with express model A1264

I am trying (unsuccessfully) to extent an Airport Extreme model A1034 (old!) with an Airport Express model A1264.
I am using Airport Utility 5.5.3 on a Powerbook G4.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
    Alan

Before configuring for a WDS, there are a couple of things that you should be aware of:
A WDS can only operate in the 802.11g Radio Mode. This, effectively, negates the advantage of your 802.11n AirPort.
For every base station added to the WDS, the overall bandwidth is cut in half. Starting with a potential maximum of 54 Mbps (802.11g), with two base stations, you will be getting something like 25-27 Mbps tops.

  • Airport Extreme (older A1034) Dial-Up using Vista

I have an older iMac and use an Airport Extreme model A1034 to connect via dial-up to the internet via the airport's built in modem. I have networked a friend's notebook, which running windows Vista, so we can share files, etc. Is there a way to have Vista use the airport's modem to connect to the internet?

well it seem apple over look this issue which i am dealing with to as my mom still has a windows machine.
but Java app to the rescue: http://gicl.cs.drexel.edu/people/sevy/airport/#Hangup
    you need to download Java.
Also if anyone find the .net version i am looking for it.

  • Will I be able to use my Airport Extreme model A1143 with Xfinity's ARRIS model TG862G/CT wireless modem? If so, how? I want to keep my airport network setting if possible.

Comcast has been hounding me to upgrade to their newer modem in order to obtain maximum bandwidth with changes they've made. They sent me an ARRIS Wi-Fi modem (model TG862G/CT). I was not expecting the modem to have wireless and would prefer using my Airport Extreme (model A1143). I have not attempted to connect the new ARRIS yet. Should I send the ARRIS back or is there an easy way to make use of it while keeping my Airport Extreme fully functional?

Thanks, I will look up "bridge mode" after I log off here. In the mean time, what if I were to simply buy the newest AE—will I still be able to use "bridge mode"? I imagine Comcast would prefer that I use their equipment and will eventually leave me no choice, but until that happens I would prefer to use Apple's AE. What is your expert take on this?
Any AE will be able to do bridge. There is actually very little difference between your ancient AE and the latest AE in terms of functionality.. Apple is minimalist.. so change can be avoided.. no need to add functions that were always missing.
I was thinking the printers are USB?? Is that incorrect.. are they wireless or ethernet? Any native network printer can be simply connected to any router.. it will perhaps be slightly easier in an Apple environment to use them on an apple router but the difference should not be huge..
USB on the other hand is tricky.. you will need to use some router that allows print serving from USB.. that still works fine whether the AE is bridged or in router mode.
Netflix is no problem either.. (assuming you are not trying to bust a geo-block).. the actual netflix login is stored in the TV.. the only security info on the AE is the wireless connection and that can be swapped to any wireless router. No biggie.. geoblocking is a biggie.. tell me if that is the case.
It is really up to you.
    1. Do nothing.. let Comcast squark all they like.. they are still providing you a service you can use. They are not going to cut you off if you still keep paying the bills.
    2. Change the modem for the new one they sent.. this involves a lot of network modification .. but in view of the age of the current devices.. will have to happen in the near future regardless.
    3. Return the modem router and request a pure modem.. to give you as little network impact as possible. You will simply change old modem for new one. However at some point the Gen1 or 2 AE will die.. and the rest of the network will need updating.. you are putting off d-day. Modern wireless routers have come a long way since Gen1 or 2 AE.
Take your pick.. Bob says 3. I say 2 or 3. It makes little difference as at some point the network needs a refresh.

  • How to set up Airport Extreme with Charter ARRIS Modem TM902A for the first time for WIRELESS.

How to set up Airport Extreme with Charter ARRIS Modem TM902A for the first time for WIRELESS.
When Charter Tech goes to your site, have them connect the modem up, but do not connect the modem to your iMAC or MacBook Pro.  What you want to do is connect the Airport Extreme to the iMac or MacBook Pro first with the Ethernet Cable. You have to do this to configure via Airport Utility to set up the Base Station Name & Base Station Password.
You will then create/configure a Wireless Network, create your Wireless Password that will be entered on each of your Devices, example, Apple Tv, your iPhone, etc., you want to allow access to your Wireless Network you are creating.
Wireless Security will be -> WPA/WPA2 personal or just WPA2
Enter the Wireless Password you want
Verify the Wireless Password (enter it again)
After it is created you will see it on the Airport Utility window with the name you created for it and to the left, will be a Dot (circle that will be yellow).
Next you then want to unplug the power to the Airport Extreme, and then take the end of the Ethernet cable you unplugged from the iMac or Lap top MacBook Pro and connect it to the back of the Modem.
Next unplug the power cord from the modem and wait about 5 minutes, then plug the power back into the Arris Modem and wait until all lights come back on the modem wait
about 5 minutes, then plug the power cord back to the Airport Extreme and you will see it the light blinking yellow.  Wait about 5 to 10 minutes, during this time Restart you IMAC or MacBook Pro, and once it is back up click on the Airport Utility and you should see on the Airport Utility screen.
For INTERNET to the left the light should be green and you should see the Airport Extreme also appear and the light to the left on the screen should also be green.  If they are, you then should be able to click on the Wireless Symbol on top of bar of the screen and click to select the Wireless Network Name you created.
If you Do Not See the light (Icon) next to INTERNET turn Green, or if you see the Internet Light Green, but the Light (Icon) next to the Airport Extreme is yellow, unplug the power again to the modem and unplug the power again to the Airport extreme and wait about 15 minutes or up to 30 minutes. Then plug the power cord back to the modem wait till all the lights light up then, plug the power cord back into the Airport Extreme and Restart your iMAC or MacBook Pro.
The Airport Extreme light should change from yellow to green. Open up the Airport Utility to see what the indicators are showing they should both be green.  Again select Wireless network you created under the Wireless Icon on the top right of the screen. Open Safari and see if you are able to Route to a web page or the apple site should appear.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR AIRPORT EXTREME WAS PREVIOUSLY SET UP FOR USE WITH ANOTHER CARRIERS ROUTER OR MODEM.
NOTE:  If you already had your Airport Extreme connected for example, I previously had ATT Uverse and the Airport Extreme was connected to the Wireless Router Model 3801HGV, I disabled the Uverse Wireless and used the Airport Extreme for the Wireless signal in bridge mode, as the Airport extreme Signal is much stronger than the Uverse router, and I was able to obtain a Wireless signal with the Airport Extreme way much better with no signal loss which was very very frustrating with the Uverse router.
Anyhow if you had it hooked up like this, now that you will be using it with the Charter ARRIS Modem TM902A, you will need to reset the Airport Extreme to clear out the old data it has in memory, with the previous set up otherwise it will not work. Trust me I spent 6 hours trying to make it work reading all Apple Support Community questions and answers relating to this type issue/problem others have been having trying to get their set up working. I tried all the tips, and I finally decided just to see if by chance I would be able to connect with someone with Charter Tech support who might be familiar with Apple to be able to assist me and by luck I did.  He told me why it was not working and was all due the previous configuration with the ATT Uverse router was still in memory with the Airport Extreme. Finally it was 10:30 PM when I decided to call Charter Tech Support and I had been working on this since 3:00 pm pacific. I did not call them earlier as all the post I read said they never received any good help from Charter. After calling them I finished up by 11:00 PM and was able to finally connect Apple Tv, iMac, iPhones and Macbook Pro. We love our Apple Product and Happy all is connected with the new
Internet Provider Charter. I must say the speed is way way much better than it ever was with AT&T Uverse.
THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO DO:
First you will need to unplug the Airport Extreme, then by taking the tip of a pen or paper clip end you need to push the reset button on the back of the Airport Extreme and hold it
down and at the same time plug the power cord back into the Airport Extreme count to 5 or 10 then release the reset button. Then once he light in front of the Airport Extreme stops blinking you need to plug the Ethernet cable from the Airport Extreme to your iMAC or Macbook Pro, and restart which ever one you have, then open the Airport Utility once it is back up.  If you see airport extreme pop up with the old network name or it shows and yellow triangle click on the Airport Extreme ICON it will not let you configure it but will ask if you want to get rid of it or remove and just do it.  Then Again restart your iMAC or MacBook Pro, open up Airport Utility again, and on the top left you should see under “Other Airport Base Stations” the MAC ID for the Airport Extreme.

I just got a Charter Modem. Model TM822. While I was moving, my Airport Extreme was still at my old place.
I have a Linksys WRT320N I used for the initial Charter setup.
I can get my Airport to work here, but the Internet light on the Modem flashes Yellow.
Hasn't caused any issues so far but one thing I did notice.
On the Linksys there were 3 DNS servers listed.
The Airport Extreme only lists 2 and i don't see where I could add another, only change whats already there.
I tried everything above, but light on modem still flashes yellow.
I have the technicians cell phone. Told me "that shouldn't be" and gave the same advice listed above.
I'll break down and call Charter one day, see if it's on their end. NSA tracking may need a reset LMAO.

  • How to rollback the Airport Extreme to previous release?

    Hello,
I need to know how to rollback the Airport Extreme to previous release.
I just updated my last generation Airport Extreme to the latest release because it was blinking orange the status light and it requested to be updated.  Howver, doing so, it no longer recognize my AirPort Express nor my second Airport Extreme (2nd generation) that is bridged.
If anyone knows how to rollback the update I will appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    genbaez.

I just updated my last generation Airport Extreme to the latest release
We might be confused by last generation. does that mean Gen5??
If it is Gen5 you roll back by holding down the options key while selecting version.
All the previous versions applicable to your model should pop up.
Just select the one you want.. and it will proceed. You get no warning or other chance to stop it.. so choose well. 7.6.1 is IMHO the best when you are going to mix with older products.
I got about 10x link speed improvement doing extend wireless when I rolled back to 7.6.1 yesterday.
Also you should stop the airport utility annoying you.. turn off the firmware update reminders so they only happen once a week. Uncheck all of these. Ignore the update warning when it will inevitably happen.

  • Why am i needing to reset airport extreme almost daily?

why am i needing to reset airport extreme almost daily? Is it just too old?

    Teresa,
You haven't provided any useful information so it's almost impossible to help you. If you are really running OS X 10.2.x as your profile states then you are posting in the wrong forum, this forum is for Intel based iMacs that began shipping with Tiger 10.4.x. Also you haven't stated what Airport Extreme you have, there have been many models over the years. Once you locate which AE you have I'd recommend posting in the appropriate AE forum and try to paint a clear picture of what is happening and also provide the verison of OS X you're using, the Mac model and ever the firmware version of the AE you have.  You can find the firmware version by running Airport Utility.

  • How do you use Airport extreme at hotels etc, when traveling? I can plug my computer into the Airport with my ethernet but how does Airport pickup signal?

How do you use Airport extreme at hotels etc, when traveling? I can plug my computer into the Airport with my ethernet but how does Airport pickup signal? What equipment & devices do I need to travel with to make this possible?

You may mean the AirPort Express.....not AirPort Extreme.....as the Express is a popular travel router.
The whole idea behind using this device is that the hotel must provide an Ethernet jack in the hotel room. Then you connect the AirPort Express to the Ethernet jack with an Ethernet cable and configure it to provide your own wireless network in the room. You still have to agree to terms, pay the fees, etc.
The problem with this approach is that it is getting very difficult to find hotels in North America that prrovide an Ethernet jack....most have moved to wireless networks and the others are not far behind.
So, if the hotel is already providing a wireless signal, the AirPort Express is of no use in that situation.
If you normally stay at the same hotels, and know that they provide Ethernet ports, an AirPort Express might make sense in terms of convenience.

  • How do I connect airport extreme to seagate hard drive using windows

How do I connect airport extreme to seagate hard drive using windows?

First the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) cannot share out an external HDD attached to its USB port unless it is formatted in either HFS+ or FAT16/32. It will not work if the HDD is formatted in either NTFS or ExFAT.
If the HDD is formatted properly, when you access the AEBS with the AirPort Utility, does the HDD show up properly on the Disks tab of the utility?
If it does, then you would access the HDD as any other network share, using the following format: //servername/sharename. In the case of the AirPort Disk (a HDD attached to the USB port of either an Extreme or Time Capsule), the "servername" would be the Extreme's Base Station Name, and the "sharename" would be the volumename of the HDD.
