How do I reset General Preferences in Premier Elements 12?

Having used Premiere Elements 10 for a while, I now have Premiere Elements 12 on my PC, I like to set the duration for still images to 5 secs, not the default 6.  I made a mistake when doing this by altering the Video Transition Default Duration in error, realised my mistake and reset that at 30 frames (is that correct for PAL?)  I then altered the Still Image duration from 150 to 125, although it is showing at 150 when I access General Preferences.  When I import a still image in, it says 5.00 sec under image in Project Assets but when added to the project all the images say duration 5.01 secs.  I have no idea what I've done wrong and why 5.01 secs seems to be the duration.
Please could anyone tell me how to reset the General Preferences back to default settings, if this can't be done, what should I have all the General Preference settings at for PAL?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

DSgal
Same thing in Premiere Elements 10 and 12.
If you have a PAL project, when you open Edit Menu/Preferences/General, you will see defaults
Video Transition Default Duration = 30 frames
In the PAL project 25 frames/second, those 30 frames are equivalent to 1.20 seconds.
Audio Transition Default Duration = 1.00 seconds
In the PAL project 25 frames/second, 1.00 second is equivalent to 25 frames
(frames vs samples for audio is another story for another time)
Still Image Default Duration = 150 frames
In the PAL project 25 frames/second, so those 150 frames are equivalent to 6.00 seconds.
The above defaults will apply to all the stills that are imported AFTER the sets are made.
If you want to change the Still Image Default Duration for the project from 6.00 to 5.00 seconds, then BEFORE Still import you change
150 frames to 125 frames. That gives 5.00, not 5.01 seconds.
Examples
6.00 second duration = 150 frames
5.00 second duration = 125 frames
4.00 second duration = 100 frames
3.00 second duration = 75 frames
2.00 second duration = 50 frames
1.00 second duration = 25 frames
Again, these settings are done BEFORE and not after Still import.
If you are in the project with your Stills already on the Timeline with the Still Image Default Duration of 150 frames (6.00 seconds) as defined in preferences and you decide to change the duration of the Still from 6.00 seconds to 5.00 seconds, then you right click the still, select Time Stretch, and set the Time Stretch dialog to 5.00 seconds.
Example in Time Stretch dialog....from 00;00;06;00 to 00;00;05;00 (hours;minutes;seconds;frames).
This can be done for one Timeline Still or more than one Timeline Still at a time.
Please review and consider and then let us know if you are OK with the details.
Thank you.

    Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Expert workspace
After you create your title in the Titler, close the Titler.
The tilte file will have been automatically placed on the Timeline at the position of the Timeline Indicator.
Open Project Assets, and select the thumbnail for the title file that was placed there also automatically.
With the Project Assets title thumbnail selected, go to File Menu/Export/Title in order to export your title as a prtl file saved to the computer hard drive for future use. This principle also applied to Title Templates edited in the Titler.
Please let me know if you are OK with the details. Please ask if you need clarification on the above.

The DVD Creator.dll file was in the proper location but I could not find a Run As Administrator Option.
I did delete Prefs file and try again to open the app then the project and received the same problem.  And the scratch disks were all directed to the Elements 13 path
Yesterday I did try additional solutions
Removed the Elements 13 App vis the Control Panel, copy the original downloaded .zip File to the Desktop and reload the entire application with no success solving the problem
In addition to that I contacted a site called Rescue.com? and the guy told me that he was a representative of Adobe, which I was not sure was the truth.  He looked at my system and told me that Premier 13 was not compatible with Windows 7.  I called BS on him told him that Adobe site said it was compatible and he told me I had a Trojan on my system and he would refund my money for Elements 13 and sell me version 12, which would be compatible, along with a better security system than the Norton 360 I told him I had.  At that point I immediately terminated our communications and called Norton to have additional checks performed to ensure no additions were added to my system.  They had me download and run Power Eraser from them and it found nothing wrong.
I also temporarily turned off the firewall and tried to use the Elements 13 but had no success.
I also went to Microsoft Windows site and searched for the Exception code: 0xc0000005 that was displayed in the event viewer and they indicated there was a hotfix available and they would email me that fix.  ave not received the email yet.
I’m getting very frustrated but thank you for your help.  I will update you with and additional results or actions I get or perform.

  • How to delete/reset Photoshop preferences

Background: Sometimes Photoshop can exhibit odd/erratic/weird behaviour.
The first step is to make sure that you are running the latest version of Photoshop, by applying the relevant updates for your version of Photoshop listed on this page:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows
This behaviour can sometimes be overcome by resetting the Photoshop Preference file, or individual Tool Preferences.
The procedures outlined below are the most common methods of removing the program preferences file.
Q: I am experiencing weird behaviour in Photoshop. - How do I delete / reset my preferences?
    Photoshop versions after 6.0 (including 7.0, CS, CS2 ...CS6):
A:If a tool is behaving erratically, first try resetting just that tools preferences, via the method outlined by Len Hewitt in the post below this one.
If you have larger troubles, hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting up Photoshop. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences/settings file.
A2: You can also simply search your hard drive for a *.psp file and delete it. It will be called something along the lines of "Adobe Photoshop X Prefs.psp".
Under Vista or 7, look here:
Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version #]/Adobe Photoshop [version #] Settings
Under Win 2k/XP the preference file will be found at:
    %windir%\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\[version #]\Adobe Photoshop [version #] Settings
[NOTE: You need to set Window's Explorer Options to "View Hidden Files and Folders" to display the Preference file]
    Photoshop Versions 5.5 and earlier:
Search for photos*.ini and delete (the file will be called photos followed by the version number - i.e photos55.ini for Photoshop 5.5, photos40.ini for Photoshop 4.0)
Resetting the preferences will restore Photoshop settings to factory defaults.
If removing the preferences files does not resolve the problem you should check the Photoshop Support pages for further guidance.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/products/photoshop.html
Note that it is possible to keep a 'healthy' copy of the Preferences file, so that you simply overwrite the preferences file if needed. That way you won´t have to re-adjust your preferences in Photoshop after a Reset.

Is one of your tools behaving strangely — or not the way you expect — in Photoshop?
For every tool in Photoshop's Tool Box, the user may choose to fully reset JUST that tool to its default settings. To do this, look up to the Options Bar. On the far left side you will see a button which displays an icon of the currently selected tool. This is the Tool Preset picker. Right-click on this button, and you will see two entries:
    Reset Tool
    Reset All Tools
The first thing to try when a tool is not acting like you expect it should is to apply the command "Reset Tool" from this menu. Often this will cure a problem, and by starting your Photoshop troubleshooting with this procedure you aren't resetting Photoshop's entire behavior and environment to factory default in a wholesale manner. Instead, you're just getting that particular tool back to its default settings, leaving the rest of Photoshop's settings alone.
The second option would be more appropriate in a classroom setting, to get a "fresh version of Photoshop", rather than for troubleshooting Photoshop issues.
If this doesn't cure the problem you're having, then you may need to move on to deleting/resetting all of your Photoshop preferences to factory default.

  • How can I save general preferences?

Not tool specific.  Things like grids, image interpolation, ect.
I want to have a workspace specifically for pixel art, and do not want to have to reset all of the general preferences when I want to create a pixel art file.  Is there a way to save the general settings?
    Thanks!
    DC

When I saved the new Workspace (Pixel Art), and reload my normal Workspace (Dana Standard), it saved the menu locations, but not specific tool presets nor anything under the General Preferences, like Grids, etc.  This is CS4, btw.
As a test, I saved the new workspace (Pixel Art) with grid settings at 8pixels/8subdivisions.  I then quit photoshop.  I relaunched, and the 8/8 settings remained.  When I reloaded my usual Workspace (Dana Standard), the menus changed, but all of the Photoshop general preferences remained the same, including the 8/8 grid settings.
All of this means that Workspace does NOT save General Preferences.
Noel, when I save the Workspace, it only gives me three things to select and save:
    Panel Locations
    Keyboard Shortcuts
    Menus
...none of these are part of PS General Preferences.

how do  i import a jpeg image into premier elements 12?

Just for background information, what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
The generalized answer is Add Media/Files and Folders/Projects Assets from where you drag the photo to the Expert view Timeline.
But all that can generate a mountain of questions about the photo and the project into which it will be going
    a. what are the pixel dimensions of the photo - will or will I not have to resize or crop/resize the photo for the project
    b. is the photo going into a project that will consist of photos and videos
    c. if video inclusion, that leads to questions about the properties of the video so that you can set the project preset to match those
    d. that leads to questions on the best size to have your photo before you import them into this project.
So, one simple question generates a lot of side questions.
Please let us know how we might help to sort out the details for your Premiere Elements workflow and its source media.
    Thank you.

  • How do I fix choppy video? Premier Elements 12 plays DV fine, but mp4 edits poorly.

When I load video from my old DVC camcorder it plays smoothly during editing. When I load mp4 video from my drone camera, it is choppy. People using Premier Pro suggested changing the monitor resolution to 1/2 or 1/8, but I don't see that feature in Premier Elements 12.

    Thanks, Hunt.
I checked out the source files and they don't match the Sequence Settings. My current project won't let me change the settings; is there a way to copy the entire old sequence into a new sequence with the correct settings without losing anything?

  • FAQ: How do I reset my preferences?

Many odd issues can be resolved by resetting your Photoshop preferences.
The main preferences file is called "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp".
Once you find the file, save a copy to include in your bug report, then delete or remove it from the preferences folder.
Photoshop will create a new preference file the next time it is run.
    Windows
Under Windows XP the preference file will be found at:
    %windir%\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\PhotoshopCS6\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp
Under Vista and Windows 7 or 8, the preference file will be found at:
    Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp
    Macintosh
On MacOS the preference file will be found at:
    /Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp
PLEASE NOTE: On MacOS 10.7 and later, Apple has hidden your Library folder, so you may need to make it visible - but the location is the same for all MacOS X versions. Instructions for accessing hidden user library files: Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion
If you need a quick and dirty way to restore your preferences, here's a way you can do it using a keyboard shortcut on launch:
Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.

remove or move your_home_folder/Library/Application Support/Compressor folder via the Finder [use option+mouse down in the Finder GO menu to access the ~/Library folder]. (rm -rdf ~/Library/Application \ Support/Compressor to delete). Move them if yu want to keep them to say ~/downloads.
remove your_home_folder/Library/Application Support/Saved Application State/com.apple.Compressor.savedState. via the Finder [use option+mouse down in the Finder GO menu to access the ~/Library folder]
relaunch compressor.app. Compressor will build a new your_home_folder/Library/Application Support/Compressor folder.
Yes all your settings have vanished. These are ofcourse maintained now in your_home_folder/Library/Application Support/Compressor. If you moved them, just add them back to the new your_home_folder/Library/Application Support/Compressor in the same structure.

  • How do I find the "Preferences" file within Elements 10 to fix the runtime error?  I can't find it any where

I am trying to fix the runtime error that occurs when I open the Photoshop Elements 10 editor and shuts down the program.  I am using the instructions found on the abode website here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-c-runtime-errors-products.html
There are no good instructions telling me what the Preferences file is named or how to find it. If someone could help that would be great.

If you are using Windows 7 then the preference file that needs to be renamed is at this location:
    <C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Editor>
In the above path, replace USERNAME with your windows profile name  which could be something like jblogetc or whatever.  Also the preference file is called: Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Prefs.psp and this needs to be renamed to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Prefs.old
Once this done, restart PSE 10 and then see if it works.

I am trying to angle a picture and or videos in this but for some reason there is no option to. This should be a default option if its not in this. Smaller editors than this one can do it. Premiere Elements 10 on what computer operating system?
You should be able to right click the still on the Timeline, select Time Stretch, and then set the 5 (default) to 2 seconds.
    From 00;00;05;00
    To 00;00;02;00
    (hours;minutes;seconds;frames)
You should be able to do this for more than one still at a Time by selecting all the clips to be involved before the Time Stretch duration set.
If you want all your 2 seconds stills for all your still imports then, before import, make sure that Edit Menu/Preferences/General and Still Image Default Duration is set to 60 frames instead of 150 frames (for a 30 frames per second system).
Please let us know if you are OK with the above information. If not, please supply more details or ask for clarification for any area of uncertainty.
    Thank you.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on and does that computer use a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card? Please read the Announcement at the top of this forum regarding the serious display Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA Ge Force issue. The full description of the problem and the how to fix are there...the solution is rolling back the driver version to May 2013. This may not be possible if your computer operating system is Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit. If that matter does not apply to you, then please read on.
Do you know the export routes for .mp4 exports and are having problems getting the export to go to a successful conclusion, or is it that you do not know the export routes for a file with a ..mp4 file extension. If problems in getting the export to go to completion, then please give full details of your export settings, source media, project settings.
Remember, .mp4 is just a file extension (wrapper format for the file's video and audio compression). So, depending on your requirements, you may have to consider video and audio compression as well as file extension in your decisions.
    As for the routes...
    1. Share/Computer/AVCHD and one of the .mp4 preset choices
    2. Share/Mobile Phones and Players/Apple iPod, iPad, and iPhone/ and one of the Presets choices
If you need help with the settings, please give us more details of your project, and we will post suggested settings.
