How do I reset iCal data in iPad?
Apparently, I screwed up by setting my iPad to sync iCal data in iTunes and also in MobileMe. So, it doubled everything. Seems as though I could get it normalized by asking it to replace all data with data from this computer but that does nothing. Is there someplace I can find where the iCal data for my iPad is stored, erase it and then re-sync? Some other solution? If I could just delete the date now on there, I could let MobileMe resync and, in theory, all would be well. So, what do I do?
Well, I can answer this one for myself. Discovered last night in the iCal application itself, on my iPad, through the "Calendars" button at the upper left of the calendar screen, that I had checks on all 3 or my calendars for "On my iPad" but none checked for "MobileMe". Realized those checkboxes explained everything.
At one point, I had all the boxes checked, so it doubled everything, once for my iPad, once for what it got from MobileMe sync. When I had just the "iPad" boxes checked, it would not sync with MobileMe. So, I unchecked the "iPad" boxes and checked the "MobileMe" boxes and everything, suddenly, was hunky-dory. iCal immediately synced. When I changed an entry on the iPad, it changed in my other computers. No doubling of entries. All was well.
I just had not understood what those boxes meant or how to use them. It does seem as though that could be a little more clear.

Google for DFU mode. Although, since it's a demo, that may not work. If it doesn't, you own a brick.

does anyone have any idea how one can keep their data on iPad after leaving icloud as it appears that you loose all data when doing this...its killing me!!!

telling me to buy a new router is NOT a solution.
And why not? Apple is selling these things like BigMacs. They can't make enough of them. You've been suffering since May because you refuse to get a decent router.
Can you imagine if a company that makes a refrigerator told me that I needed to upgrade my electrical system to rectify a problem with their device? What kind of response IS that?!?!
What if the problem with their device is that it requires a new-fangled "grounded" outlet and your circa 1890 house doesn't have grounded outlets. Would you refuse to purchase a $ 25 adapter on principle? -

You'll need to contact Apple directly with proof of ownership of the device for the company, and have them remove it.
Otherwise it cannot be done directly. -

How do you transfer ical data and address book from a mac back up to an ipad?
I have a HD back-up from my mom's dead imac g5.
I am sending her an iPad, and would LOVE to have here Address Book and iCal data so she has that all set up.If you want to transfer a large amount of files, the best way would be to use an external drive. If you do not have one, consider the option of using Target Disk mode, so you just have to get a Thunderbolt cable; this is the fastest option.
To use Target Disk mode, connect the Thunderbolt to the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. Then, start up your MacBook Pro and hold the T key while it is starting up until you see the Thunderbolt icon in the display. Now, go to the MacBook Air, open a Finder window and you will see the MacBook Pro hard drive in the sidebar, so access to them and transfer the files you want to. -
hi... my ipad's software crashed and it is not proceeding beyond the apple logo.. it keeps on restarting and i think i have to reboot the device.. before doing that i need to reassure my data is safe.. i haven't backed up the data and due to continuous restarting the computer isn't detecting the device ... how could i save my data??
Have you tried a reset: Press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.
If the reset doesn't fix it, then you will have to restore your iPad ... but without a backup, your iPad's data will be lost:

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

How do I retrieve iCal data from my Time Capsule.
Aloha: For unknown reasons I lost all my iCal data. I went back in time (pretty neat!) and brought back an old version of iCal that did have the data.
However, now I am unable to use this old vrsion with my present operating system!
How can I retrive my old data and get it on my new version of iCal?
Thanks

HawaiiHow do I retrieve a file from my backup in Time Capsule?
It depends on the type of file that you are trying to retreive.
In general.....
Open Time Machine by clicking on the clock icon on the dock
Wait a few minutes for Time Machine to fully load
Use the timeline at the far right of the window to go back in time to a date when the file was still on your Mac
Click that date
Navigate using the Finder interface to locate the file that you want
Click on the file to highlight it
Click Restore at the lower right of the window to be brought back to the present
You have to retrieve other types of files differently. For details, see:

How do I restore iCal data from a Time Machine back-up?
Recently, all my iCal data disappeared, possibly due my efforts to unlink iCal from Google calendars.
I have read posts here, and have tried restoring ~/Library/Calendars in its entirety from a Time Machine back-up from about a week ago, where data definitely existed .... however, iCal remains empty. What am I doing wrong?Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Restore it from your backup.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
I bought ipad 2. how do i transfer my data from ipad 1 to new ipad
I bought a ipad 2. How do I transfer all my data from my "old" ipad to my new one before I sell it?
You should be able to do a backup of your old iPad via your computer's iTunes, and then restore your new iPad from that backup - depending on how much content you've got on the old iPad it may take a little while to backup and then restore. As the backup contains app's data/settings but not the apps themselves, I think that you need to have a copy of your apps on your computer's iTunes - if the restore can't install an app then it can't copy its settings/data.
When you're sure that the data has been copied over correctly then you can clear the old iPad via Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings -
How to over-write iCal data with iPhone calendar data?
As of tonight, my iPhone 4's calendar will not merge to my iMac. The Mac with push to the phone, but not the other way around. I know for a fact that the "correct" calendar is the one on the iPhone (lucky this week I know that!), so I'd like a way to over-write the computer version with the iPhone.
So, problems to solve:
(1) Tell me how to reset the sync history in the newest version of iTunes
OR
(2) Tell me how to over-write data as described above (and pray it works the next time bi-directionally)
OR
(3) Point me to a fix for the original non-sync problem that I haven't discovered yet.
Your help is GREATLY appreciated as I've spent WAY more time on this than intended already. 1 minute sync --> 4 hour issue.
Thanks!
[iPhone 4 with 5.1 and Calendar; iMac with 10.6.8 and iCal 4.0.4]Greetings,
Basics:
Turn iPhone and computer off and on and try again.
Ensure date and time on iPhone and computer are the same and try again.
More troubleshooting:
1.) Backup all your data:
Backup your iPhone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
Backup your computer iCal: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2966
2.) Reset the computer's sync services and then restart the computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
3.) Plug in the iPhone and attempt a sync.
If that does not resolve the issue let me know and I'll give you a different route.
Hope that helps.
