How do I reset my Ipod nano 4th gen to factory settings? (I found it after 3 years, and the email it was under is deleted and gone. I am trying to give it to a friend who can't afford one.)

I found my ipod nano after it being missing for nearly 4 years, (ITS 4TH GEN), and i want to give it to a friend who can't afford one. Here's the problem, I deleted the email that I used for it about 2 and a half years ago, what do i do?

I don't know how an email affects using your iPod nano...    But what you want to do is called a Restore.  You do this with iTunes, so you need to have iTunes installed on your computer.  If it's not installed, you can get iTunes here

Connect the iPod and select it in iTunes.  The screen that appears is the iPod's Summary screen.  The button for doing a Restore is there.  This will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings, which is what is often called "factory" condition.
NOTE:  The iPod's lithium battery may not hold a charge after it has been sitting in the drained condition for a few years.  You should charge it completely, and confirm that it operates properly when disconnected, before giving it to your friend.
