How do I reset the 'App Store' on an Mac laptop used by someone else.

I want to purchase things in the App store, they say "Accept" but I can not do that under my Apple ID. It says I must purchase them, but that is not an option I can find. Whish I could just 'apt-get garageband'.. Laughing..

The OP gives the answer he got from Apple here:

As you have 10.5.8 you need to upgrade to at least 10.6.6 to get the App Store as this was the 1st version it came with.
A workaround is to get a friend who has 10.6.6 or better to download Lion for you without installing it. You can create an App Store account on the friend's computer I think to do this. Copy the Lion installer from that computer to a USB stick or burn it to DVD and you should be able to install it on your own computer, I think. You might have to create an empty partition on your own computer first for Lion installation as I'm not sure that it will install over Leopard.

  • How do you reinstall the app store on a mac computer?

I accidentally deleted the app store on my macbook pro. How do you reinstall the app store app on your computer?

There is no Mac App Store on Mac OS X 10.6.5 or earlier.
On Mac OS X 10.6.6 through 10.6.8, run the combo updater for your OS version or a newer Snow Leopard one.
On Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down, and reinstall the OS.

  • How to i get the App Store onto my mac if it doesn't have it?

i currently just bought a new iphone 5.  I would like to update my MAC OSx but i can't because everything is done through the "app store" on the computer.  My computer doesn't seem to have that function.  Is there a way to get it put onto my computer?

If you are running v10.7 Lion on your Mac as your profile suggests, then the App Store should be installled.
Three ways to access the App Store.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click App Store.
    Or, from your Dock
Or launch the App Store from your Applications folder.
If you still can't locate the App Store, installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo) will reinstall the App Store for you.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.

How can i reset my app store setting?
I have signed in and out with my own apple id but i used a different one at first a few years ago and that one is not going away how do i change it to my own apple id?

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID. Your only option is to delete the content and buy it again with the new Apple ID.

My money is on one of the two suggestions that my colleague has given you, but if all else fails......
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

My App Store is deleted and the option to turn it back on in restrictions is grayed out. How do I get the App Store back?

If a reset didn;t work, then you can try restoring your iPad. Don't restore from a back up because if there is a glitch with restrictions, it will just set that option up again. Of if you are sure you have a backup created before you changed restrictions settings, then you can back up from that.

  • How can I restore the app store icon ?

how can i restore the app store icon ?

        Hey Dan97!
Uh-oh. Sounds like we need to get on the job and solve the case of the missing app store icon. With that said, I've got you covered.
Right off the bat, there are a couple of different ways we can do this. First, let's start things off simple. Go to settings > general > restrictions. If restrictions are enabled, toggle "Installing Apps" back on. Did the app store reappear? If not, no worries. Next, go to settings > general > reset > reset home screen layout. How did thing work out this time? Hopefully well. If neither of these steps worked, please let me know when the icon first disappeared and if it coincided with any changes. I look forward to it!
