How do I reset the sound on my computer?

I've been having problems with the sound. It seems to be more of a software issue than a hardware issue. I switched to a guest account and the audio worked fine on my macbookpro. When I switched to my private account the sound didn't work at all. I think that by reseting something everything would go back to normal. Any suggestions?

I have had this happen occasionally on my iMac. One or the other of these has nearly always worked for me:
• In System Preferences, select Sound, then click on the Output tab. After making sure the Mute box is not checked (if so, a headslap is required ), drag the blue pointer on the Output Volume slider to any new position. You should hear a 'beep' (or whatever your system sound for such action is), and you're in business.
• If you're using any external device for sound (a speaker system, or headphones), unplug and replug the connection at the Audio Out jack of your computer.
On the very rare occasions where neither of the above solved the problem, a Restart did the trick.

What is your machine and its OS ? Click the small arrow at the right corner, click Customize
Turn on the Sound icon from there.

I have know idea what happened to it but I am disabled

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. I have an HP Photosmart 7520 e-all in one. I use Windows 7. I could tried to set a password in the EWS network tab. I could not change the user name so it remains "admin". I set the passwork and it seemed ok. But when I tried to log on again, it would not let me in. How do I reset the network password?

I recommend that you run "Restore Network Defaults" from the front panel and then run the wireless setup wizard again. This will wipe out all your network settings.

Can't Open File Explorer -- How can I reset the Quick Access Toolbar from outside of File Explorer?

First of all, this is not a virus. This is my a bug within windows explorer itself.
So, I added the properties button to the QAT, and it displayed it as an expandable menu, like this: ";" but with small arrows like this: ">". didn't want this, I wanted to click on it and immediately display the properties of the file
to me. So, I hovered over it, right-clicked on "Properties" in this menu and added it to the QAT. Of course, this crashes File Explorer. Now whenever I try and open it, it crashes, so I have to assume that the corrupted button has been saved.
So, my question is: How do I reset the QAT from OUTSIDE of file explorer? Regedit magic? Any ideas?

Edit: Just so you know, I can navigate through my systems files using the 7-zip file manager. Phew.

Thanks from me too, Niki. This first happened with Windows 8.0 File Manager a week ago,, and despite much research I couldn't discover the cause so eventually I resorted to restoring the system drive from backup (luckily I make daily backups,
so didn't lose much work).
Without knowing the cause a few days later I again tried to alter the Quick Access Toolbar and the problem reappeared. Should I again resort to restoring the entire system drive, the thought horrified me. But
luckily while doing a bit more research prior to resorting to the same drastic recovery, I cane across this post of yours and it worked!
It doesn't seem to be happening with Office 2007's or Wordpad's Quick Access Toolbar, so presumably it's a File Explorer bug (a.k.a. Windows Explorer in Windows 7, of course). Have Microsoft recorded this as
a bug -- if not, why not -- and when are they coming up with a fix?

however - when I then go to the website to download the Pdf document I need I get a screen with the big red adobe icon that says to complete and down load this document I must launch adobe reader a dn sign the terms of agreement , close browser and reopen.
but thatscren has no choice buttons whatsoever, I cannot find anywhere a adobe reader image to launch - been into launch pad , preferences etc.
so now the loop is the pdf document and the adobe screen saying I must do terms of agreement

Have you tried to go into System Preferences > iCloud and entering the correct information there? You will first have to "sign out" of the wrong account and then log in with the correct information.
If that does not work you should direct follow up to the iCloud for Mac forum.
