How do I resize all symbols in a project???

So I’m trying to figure out how I can scale my flash project to fit the screen. The problem is that when I export the project to an .avi there is a huge white background that is still showing in the project. I tried to scale the whole project up by selecting all of the symbols at once and then resizing them but it only scaled a few of them separately. At this point if I wanted to stretch the project I would have to resize every symbol separately and that could take hours. I just want to be able to stretch all of the symbols at once so that the whole project is covered by the symbols. I’m using adobe CS5 on windows 7

You need to ask in the Flash Pro forum. The player can't edit FLA or SWF files.

How can I resize my symbols etc?

I'm just getting to grips with Illustrator and working my way through a text book. It tells me to rezise the symbols by holding down the shift key and dragging the corner of the symbols transform lines but nothing happens. I expect it to work like it does in Photoshop but all it does is move the symbol. What am I doing wrong?! I have tried other keys but no luck. Thanks for you help in advance...

I can resize objects as you have shown in Photoshop but for some reason it won't allow me to in Illustrator. I click on the selection tool and a then click on the object I want to resize but it only moves the object, whether I hold down the shift key or not. I have tried a few permutations of all the keys (shift, ctrl, cmd, alt...) just to see if it was different on my keyboard but no joy. There are only 'handles' in the corners on the blue lines not on the centre of each line and I don't get a double arrow when placed over the handles. I've got no idea why this is happening or how to correct it! Any ideas??

How do I move all files from one project, to another hard drive?

I am using CS3- I created a project on one hard drive, began editing, etc.- but now I'd like to move that project to another hard drive.
Where are all of the files associated with it so I can move it successfully?

How do I set all photos in a project to the same date (rather than simply time-shifting)?

I have a bunch of old scanned photos in Aperture (current version - 3.5.1), and am trying to tidy up the metadata, especially the dates.
This is turning out to be quite a task, as the date gaps between scans are all over the place. For example, in one project I might have photos scanned between 2004 and 2007 that all took place on one day in 1999.
This means the native "adjust date and time" function in the metadata menu doesn't work, as it is a little too clever in its timeshifting. If I highliht the whole project and change it all to 1 June 1999, the 2004 shots get changed to that date but the 2007 scans are dated 2002, with Aperture "cleverly" preserving the inaccurate three year gap in the original scans' metadata.
This is making the process of fixing my data far more arduous than it needs to be.
I feel like my situation can't be that unusual, and their must be a way to override this behaviour. I'm not fussy about preserving logical time gaps between shots but I'd like them to have the right year and month (so a "dumb" solution that gave them all idntical date and times would be fine).

What is your Aperture version?
If it is compatible with iPhoto, open the Aperture library in iPhoto and use iPhoto's Batch Change to adjust the date of your scans: (File > Open Library in iPhoto)
In iPhoto select the photos in the event and go to the main menu bar:
Photos > Batch Change > Set Date:
Select the initial date and time of your photos and a very small gap, e.g. 1 second. All photos will set to the same date, stepped by one second to preserve their time order.
Afterwards switch back to Aperture using "File > Open Library in Aperture).
this works very well with Aperture 3.5.1 and iPhoto 9.5.1.

Try this. Finder->New Finder Window, set it up the way you want it, CMD+J, and select Use as Defaults. Close the window and create another. Did it use those settings? If so, you're finished. If not, I don't have anything else for you to try.

Being able to read your texts is really important and we'll be happy to help you get them working correctly. How long has this issue been going on for? Has texting ever worked correctly for you?
Also, when you receive texts as all symbols do you know what is contained in those texts? Are there any images in them by chance? Even a smily? If the person sending you the message tries to send it again are you able to read it?

How do you resize multiple artboards in Illustrator at the same time?

Hi,
This is a question that has been bugging me for a while. I'm currently on CS6 but I'm looking for a solution that can also work on CS5 for a co-worker.
Having multiple artboards has been established since CS4 and I have yet to see an official way of resizing multiple artboards, if anything there should at least be a plug-in.
As great of a feature it is, it seems a little short sited. If one has multiple artboards one should be able to manage multiple artboards, right?
I totally love having multiple artboards but I should be able to resize and manage multiple artboards as well.
This is great for building icon sets but how can I resize the set all at once?
I was considering trying to do an action but odds are I still would have to select an artboard one by one to do which doesn't save much time if you have like 30 artboards to apply this to.
I don't even see a batch render for artboards and Photoshop has that for its files.

Unfotunately when I looked into that does not seem to be the case. However I can resize when I "Save for Web" but that appears to only work for one artboard at a time. I can Save As or Export multipe artboards but not adjust the size. Believe me I would be happy if I could resize multiple artboards upon export but apparently that is not an option.

Hi,
If it is just a one word value then you could use this in the exist event;
this.rawValue
= util.printx(">?<*",this.rawValue);
This changes the first character (represented by the ?) to uppercase (represented by the >) and all trailing characters (represented by the *) to lowercase (represented by the <).
If you wanted something more general ... if they could also enter a middle name then you could call a function like;
function toTitleCase(textValue)
return textValue.toLowerCase().replace(/\b[a-z]/g, function replacer(match) { return match.toUpperCase(); });
This uses a regex to change all lowercase letters following a word boundary to uppercase.

I am able to open PDFs from the Internet normally using the Adobe Reader X plugin, but for some reason, it doesn't kick in when I open local PDF files.
I am using Firefox 4.0.1 and Adobe Reader X.

Do you have any graphics editing software like photoshop or something similar.?
Surely you can just open both images, resize the image you want to add, then copy and paste it into the main image. Save this as a new file and set it as the background.
If you need a graphics editing program you can download one called The Gimp for free. Just make sure you have X11 installed.

The hard drive on my MacBook Pro recently died on me (just past my Apple Care warranty - lucky me). I sent it to an authorised reseller/repair place and they installed a new hard drive for me - replacing my old 250GB with a nice new 500GB. The problem is when they copied over the disk image from my previous hard drive they did not scale up the image (yeah, not so happy bout that). Now I find myself with a 500GB hard drive with a 250GB partition called Macintosh HD and 250GB of unused/unusable space. On top of that I'm just starting to get messages saying boot disk nearly full. How can I resize the "Macintosh HD" partition to use the entire disk? I've tried using disk utility, clicking on the main drive, going to the partition tab and dragging the Macintosh HD partition to use the entire disk but after a few seconds of a message saying "waiting for disk to reappear" it returns to the same 250GB size. Running OSX 10.9.3. Any suggestions?

See the tips in pounding's section on using Disk Utility:http://pondini.org/OSX/Home.html and you could also take the route of buying an external hard drive (a great idea of maintaining a backup), format that drive for Mac OS X Extended (Journaled), clone the startup disk to that drive, then boot from the external, erase and format the internal, then clone the external back to the internal partitioned as you want.

How can I resize a pdf page content with annotations and highlights in Acrobat Pro while maintaining page size and annotation/highlight interactivity? I've tried to use the crop tool in Acrobat Pro (9) and the page does resize, but the highlights and annotations go all over the place. I specifically need to scale the page content smaller (83%) but maintain page size and annotation/highlight to content connection and interactivity.

An old trick (not recommended) would be to print to a new PDF with the page size selected but a scaling of the content. Only print the document, not the markup, to a new PDF. Close that PDF when done and reopen the old one (or maybe a copy of the old one for safety) and use Document Replace pages and select the new document to replace your current pages. You will then have to go back through the markup to locate it all correctly. There may be a more elegant way, but this may be the fastest.
