How do I resolve a "This document could not be signed" error?

How do I resolve a "This document could not be signed" error?  I received this error when trying to sign a document with multiple signature boxes.  This particular box locks down most of the document.  It's normally not an issue, but periodically we have a copy of this same form that does not work.

A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

Our IBM Unix system uses a program called VSIFax (Esker) to create PDF documents such as invoices.  Users that have updated to Acrobat version 11.0.10 can open the PDF but then when trying to save the document the get a message "This document could not be saved.  There was a problem reading this document (21)."  The problem is only occuring with updated version 11.0.10 (11.0.9 works fine).

  • Cannot save error, "This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this doc...(8)"

Cannot save file. Get error message, "This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (8)".   What does this mean and how do I fix it?  The file opens normally, so how is there a problem reading this document?

    Hi MarkStabler,
It appears that your document gets corrupted, try printing the file through Adobe PDF printer and then check the issue.

  • "This document could not be checked out." SharePoint 2010 checkout action using IE8

I am setting up a two-server farm, and most everything works, except the checkout action for a document.  This problem occurs in both site collections, one of which requires checkout, and the other does not.
Here are the options I've tried:
Snow Leopard, Firefox 3.0.1 - works
    Snow Leopard, Safari - works
    Win 2003, IE 7 - works
    XP, Firefox - works
XP, IE 8 - "This document could not be checked out.  You may not have permission to check out the document or it is already checked out or locked for editing by another user."
In IE8, I am able to open a document as read only then use the button presented by Word to check out the document.  I cannot use that as a workaround, as not all users have a version of Office that will allow checkout in that way.
Checkin works fine.  I need to resolve the checkout error.

I was having the same problem mentioned here. I noted that this problem only appears when I use the FQDN in the URL ex 'http://hostname.domain.com/default.aspx'. If I access the Sharepoint site using the URL 'http://hostname/default.aspx', then
I do not have any problems checking files in or out.
I ran into this same error pattern when trying to do a document edit (library is set to force a check out), or do a direct check out via the ribbon menu or item context menu.  Oddly enough when we would use the 'Edit Properties' ribbon button (which forces
a check out) we did not get an error and the document's status would change to 'checked out'.  Below are the two messages we would receive when trying to do a check out:
IE error message - "This document could not be checked out. You may not have permission to check out this document or it is already checked out or locked by another user." - Click OK
IE Error message - "The document could not be opened for editing. A Microsoft SharePoint Foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document." - Click OK
After trying several different suggestions I realized that I wasn't having the problem when I was accessing the site locally via FQDN but only when I was using the Public Site URL (via https).  Turns out we were getting the error because we did not have
an AAM currectly setup.  Once I changed our AAM for the Internet zone with the Public URL value instead of the FQDN the error went away.
Hope this helps anyone else trying to track this down.  Oh and this was SP2010 w/SP1 (Patch version 14.0.6106.5001) on Win2008 R2 with clients running both Win7 and WinXP using IE8.

The steps I’m following are described below:

    - When it is done, click anywhere on the screen.
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
    2.    Save the Form
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 on a W7 workstation
Here's a screenshot of the problem.
    Thanks a lot.

    Please help.
    Best Regads,
    Shakir

    Hi Shakir,
CR 10.2 is not supported in VS 2012. To update to a supported runtime go to this page and download the first link to integrate into the VS IDE:
SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
Other links are for redistributing the runtime only, DO NOT install them on your DEV PC.
Only issue is the update wizard may not replace all of the references in the config files so you may have to edit them manually. Or you may have both, replace them with the version 13.x.x.x versions.

  • Digital Signature error - "Document could not be signed"

I have a servlet (from the documentation sample) the rendered my form online. My form was saved from Designer as Acrobat 7.0.5 Static PDF Form File and then I applied Reader Extensions to it to allow for Digital Signatures and Basic Form Fill In. When I try to digitall sign the form, I get the error:
"The document could not be signed."
"There was an error when attempting to commit this signature. The document was not saved."
    "A file error has occurred."
Anyone know what this means and how do I fix it??
I am using Acrobat Reader 7.0.8, so maybe that is the problem, but I won't know what version Reader my user's will have, so it needs to work in many versions.
If I don't sign the form, I can submit it where a second servlet saves the form to a file and this happens successfully.
    Thank you,
    Jennifer

    Hello Rob,
    Thanks for the reply.
Actually, there is a bug with Reader and Form Rendered forms - at least with already extended pdf forms that get rendered via Form Server.
So, I hope this makes sense, but this is what I have determined (this is all done with viewing the EXTENDED PDF form WITHIN a WEB BROWSER):
If I use a simple hyperlink (i.e. plain html anchor tag) to my PDF form, I can digitally sign the form with no problem within in all 7.x versions of Reader.
If I utilize Form Server code (tested with local EJBClient and then remote JBoss using SOAPClient) then the results vary:
Reader 7.0.0 - I could successfully sign the form
Reader 7.0.5 - I could successfully sign the form
Reader 7.0.7 - I could NOT sign the form
Reader 7.0.8 - I could NOT sign the form
Reader 8.0.0 - I could successfully sign the form
So, you can see in version 7.0.7 and 7.0.8, one cannot digitally sign a form if it was rendered via Form Server and viewing the form in the web browser, but I can sign it just fine if I display the form via a simple html hyperlink, so that is what I am doing now.
I had this same issue when using Workflow server, but that was easy enough to apply the Reader Extension QPAC over and over as needed. I need these forms to be submitted on a remote server and haven't figured out yet how to apply the Reader Extension remotely yet.
    I hope this helps.

  • How can i solve the vpn server could not be found error on my iphone 5s?

how can i solve the vpn server could not be found error on my iphone 5s?

FWIW, back at work we have a Palo Alto Networks firewall and VPN. Have configured both the iPhone and the iPad with the pertinent details.
If I connect while in the premises (same LAN), connection is instantaneous and flawless.
If I connect while away, no matter which external network, the first attempt to connect ALWAYS fails with a NOT FOUND error. Yet if I try again immediately after, it ALWAYS connects with no further issues.

I am able to print an 11x17 pdf to a 11x17 and 22x34 page size. When I choose a custom size it gives me "the document could not be printed" message.

Under Help there is a repair installation. This fixed my issue on Windows 7 & Adobe X Reader (not on the XP system). I don't understand why I would need to repair a fresh installation but I am printing now.

  • The document could not be saved error when Saving to a SharePoint Document Library

I am having an error when opening and commenting on Adobe PDF's that are stored in SharePoint 2010. When I attempt to save a PDF I have commented on I get the following error:
The Document could not be saved. The server said:
"The operation failed because an unexpected error occurred. (Result code: 0x80020005)"
This seems to happen in a Document Library that is based on a custom template with Managed Metadata columns, when we remove the columns it seems to work and when we create a library with a standard document library template and manually add the manage metadata columns it also works fine.
We would make this change to all document libraries where this issue occurs however this template is applied to 100's of libraries with thousands of documents stored in them. Is there anything we can look at to attempt to resolve this issue?
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. documents seem to work fine in these libraries.

    Hi quodd,,
We are sorry for the issue being faced by you. I need some information from you so that I take further steps:
    1. Which Adobe product are you using Acrobat or Adobe reader- what is the complete version?
    2. How are you opening and saving the PDF, the exact workflow?
Are you doing it from within Adobe Reader/Acrobat application or opening it from browser, doing changes and saving it using browser itself.
    3. Can you try to save a PDF to library with Custom template and managed metadata columns using browser directly.
    4. Please verify that columns name do not contain spaces or some other special characters.
Can you try to save PDF to library with Custom template and just a single managed metadata column  with a simple name
    Thanks,

  • Document could not be saved error while using BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_SAVE

    Hi All,
I am using BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CHANGEMULTI and BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_SAVE to change the status of the CRM Service Order.
The BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CHANGEMULTI is working fine without any errors, in return table(zero entries), so after this I call the BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_SAVE with save_frame_log = 'X' and update_task_local = '' with the objects_to_save having the guid.
I get an error 'document could not be saved' but still the service order is having the status, which I try to update, in the Item details.
I had gone through the forums, for similar kind of error, and did not find any concrete solution for this error.
Could you please let me know how to rectify this error.
    Regards
    Sunil Kumar P

    Hi Sachin,
    Still the same error.
I had debugged the code and found that the FM 'CRM_EVENT_PASS_INFO_EXE_OW' called internally is failing to generate the events required for save.
The next step of this is deleting the objects to save and inturn , the error.
The events are filled based on entries in table 'gt_plan_exets' in the FM, but for me the table is blank.
I tried to find how this table is getting filled, but I could not trace it.

  • Acrobat X Pro shows "The document could not be printed" error

I used Acrobat X Pro to open an PDF file and then re-print it to another PDF by Adobe PDF printer. It shown a dialog with "The document could not be printed" message.
Why do some PDF files occur this error ? How to fix this problem ? Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting the problem.
It seems you are unable to print any pdf from Acrobat. You mentioned that you are able to print the same PDFs from iphone and other devices.
Are you able to print from any other application(e.g. word, notepad) from the same machine where you are seeing the issue. It looks to me that your machine is not able to establish contact with the printer but your other devices are able to.
    Please confirm.
    Thanks,
