In Password Preferences, how do I amend a password when Safari has not detected that I have changed it?

Open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the website name top right corner of that window.
Control click the website keychain then click Delete.
Back to Safari > Preferences > Passwords
    Delete that website.
Navigate to the same site on Safari. Enter your user name and new password.
Click Yes when prompted to save that data to a new keychain. That information should now be updated in Safari > Preferences > Passwords.

Are you referring to the four digit Passcode that you enter when you first turn your phone on or wake it up after an Autolock? If it the four digit Passcode that you forgot here is an Apple support page that explains how to restore your iphine.

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

how do i rest my password from my lockscreen?

Reset your password? Nope, can't do it from your lockscreen on a Mac. How? You have to insert your Mac Install Disk, and then reboot from there. The last install disk was Snow Leopard, so if you still have your disk lying around, pop it in and reboot.

  • How to re-set keychain password

After trying to sync all my devices and making too many password changes, I forgot my Keychain password and am locked out. anyone know how to fix?

Do you still remember your user account name and password for your iMac? Normally your keychain password should match your Mac user account. Unfortunately, if you can't remember the user account password or your Keychain password then you may not have any options other than throwing out the keychain (and all of the passwords and certificates it contains) so that you can start over. • How do you update Keychain passwords

I'm fairly new to the Keychain app, so when you initially set-up a new Keychain password, how do you update the password when it changes?
I know this can be done via Keychain Access eg double clicking the item and entering a new password, is this the only way of doing it?

I think you mean a Keychain items' password. Not the main Keychain application's.
In this case if you obtain the username and password from Keychain into a pre-filled form, you may change the password in the form and then the Keychain application will ask you for confirmation.

  • How do I recover keychain passwords?

My PB hardrive crashed, but I managed o copy my "Macintosh HD" to an external drive.
Now I'm re installing all my software and I realized I lost all my passwords.
Is there a way to recover them using keychain?
I tried to open the keychain application on my FW drive but it won't open.
I would really appreciate the help.
    Thanks in advance!

Neither password can be recovered, but you can reset or change them.
Changing or resetting an account password (Lion):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274
Scroll down to Resetting the original administrator account password. Try the procedure under reset your user password with your Apple ID.
If that does not work for whatever reason you can also use the following technique:
Restart your Mac while holding down the ⌘ and R keys at the same time until you see the Lion Recovery screen.
From the menu bar at the top, select Utilities > Terminal.
In the Terminal window type resetpassword and press Enter. A window will open behind Terminal that looks like this
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD" in the above screenshot), choose your user account from the dropdown selection, enter a new password, complete the password hint field, and click Save.
You may then see a confirmation dialog explaining how this change affects Keychain Access and what to do about it. Remember it or write it down, then click OK.
    Quit Reset Password
    Quit Terminal
Quit OS X Utilities and restart your Mac.
To fix your Keychain problems, go to your Utilities folder and open Keychain Access. Follow the steps here: Mac OS X: Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login password.
As it says, if you do not remember your original login or keychain password, your only alternative is to delete the Keychain. Not a big deal, you just have to remember or recreate all the passwords you used for websites that require them.

  • How to see the saved password in safari of iPad 3 ?

PLease help me how can I see the saved password in iPad 3 safari.

You can't, for obvious reasons (think of spying for another person's sensitive data). All you can do is deleting them.
