What did you mean Cluster Service?
If you mean Oracle Cluster,
1. You must root user.
2. use crsctl command-line
./crsctl stop crs
./crsctl start crs
Your Database and listener , they have resisted in Oracle Cluster, that down.
If you mean database service. You can use srvctl command-line to help you

Hi,
Is there Cisco documentation on how often services should be restarted, or the entire cluster be restarted? The reason why I ask is that we have services running for 588 days since the deployment of our UCCX cluster. I have restarted various services here and there to resolve certain issues, but have not restarted the whole cluster and I think it's due time. I'm a little nervous about it, to be quite honest. Any insight?

I would again stand by the fact that a reboot is not necessary until a problem has been identified and the root cause is known to be resolved by the reboot.
Well, if you ask me the procedure to reboot a cluster in a HA environment, then
(Assuming your UCCX Version is 8.x and above)
++ Reboot Node 1
++ Wait for all the services to come up. You can monitor by the CLI "utils service list".
++ Once they are STARTED, reboot node 2.
++ Wait for the all the services to come up
++ Check for the services under Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability -- Tools -- Control Center Network Services
++ Also good idea, to check the replication from Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability -- Tools -- Datastore Control Center -- Replication Servers. The status for both the nodes should be 'Connected' and 'Active'
Also, a good idea would be to use the release notes of the UCCX version that you are running on and find if there are any known issues which involved a reboot as the solution.

How to manually restart a service

systemuiserver hung up on me recently and after forcing it to quick in activity monitor, I could not figure out how to restart the service. I'm new to mac from windows, where I would just go to where the services are listen and click restart. I did try blindly using 'launchctl start systemuiserver', but it didn't find the tag systemuiserver. And i tried 'launchctl com.apple.systemuiserver' but that tag wasnt found either.
Any ideas on how to restart a service without having to reboot?

How to start/ restart the service in visual admin of SAP WAS 6.4?

I have installed the sneak preview version of SAP NetWeaver WAS 6.4 for default Database MaxDB. While developing a simple application to manage simple database table citymaster with 2 columns in jsp I am getting error as
Exception e com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at : java.comp.
Looking at visual admin tool for WAS 6.4 all the entries are in color blue but the last entry for 'DATASOURCE' is in RED color where 'java.comp/env/JDBC/DATASOURCE' is the jndi reference created for default DataSource.
Can any one help me that why the last entry is in RED and it that say that some error has occured or that entry is not started then how to start that?

I have checked the Visual Administrator's JNDI Registry service entry in the ejbContexts node but there is no entry for the project which I have created.
It get deployed while I right click on the project's ear file and click on "Deploy on J2EE Engine". But same as before while checking in Browserthe site gives the same error...

Restart Data Services 3.2 fails

I can not access trace log, monitor log and error log files. Every time accessing through links I get a time out error. The Server is available and accessible. I just tried to restart the BusinessObjects Data Service - Server through the BO-DS-Servermanager. This has not worked. I can not restart the service "BusinessObjects Data Services".
This Error occures : Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
This happened sometime last months. When I restart the server then all is ok again.

2. What is the error message in Event Viewer (Start > Run > eventvwr.msc)?
3. What user run this service (Start > Run > services.msc > Business Objects Data Services > Properties > Log On tab)?
4. Is Data Execution Prevention disabled? (My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Prevention tab)?

DAG issue - Unable to start cluster service

Hello,
Let me brief my environment.
- 2 Sites
- 1 DAG, 4 Servers
- 2 Servers each site
Situation:
I have just updated the OS for all the servers in DAG and update all the Exchange Versions to SP3 RU3. One of the server in the DAG/cluster is down/unavailable. I figured that the cluster service on that server is disabled and not able to Start.
Errors:
Event ID:
- 7024 - The Cluster Service service terminated with service-specific error. The system cannot find the file specified..
- 7031 -
- in to ensure that this machine is a member of a cluster. If you intend to add this machine to an existing cluster use the Add Node Wizard. Alternatively, if this machine has been configured as a member of a cluster, it will be necessary to restore the
missing configuration data that is necessary for the Cluster Service to identify that it is a member of a cluster. Perform a System State Restore of this machine in order to restore the configuration data.

Hi,
From the error you provided above, it seems that a node(one server in DAG you mentioned above) doesn't belong to existing cluster. I recommend you join this node to cluster using
cluster node nodename /forcecleanup cmdlet and then restart cluster service.

How to stop and start (restart) portal services programmatically?

Hi experts,
I develop a portal service IMaintenanceService extending IService.
The new service has some profile properties (start date, end end, etc.).
I wrote another portal application MaintenanceManager which can change these profile properties.
However, to activate the changes I have to restart the portal service.
Does anyone know how I can restart the portal service IMaintenanceService from my portal application MaintenanceManager?

2) To see if the MWA (telnet) server is running use:

4) check the wma process from OS level
ps -ef|grep mwa
for starting
1) login to Applications tier
2) cd $MWA_TOP/bin

How do we enable a service to automaticly start-up when the db starts up?

srvctl enable service -d DBThanks for your reply M. Nauman. I researched that command and found we do have it enabled and that it only works if the database instance was previously taken down. Since the database does not go down on an Archiver Hung error as we are using FRA with an alt location, this never kicks in and brings up the service. What we are looking for something that will trigger off of when the archive logs error and switch from FRA(Flash Recovery Area) to our Alternate disk location. Or more presicely, when it goes back to a Valid status(on the FRA - after we've run an archive log backup to clear it).
I found out from our 2 senior dba's that our other 2 node rac environment does not suffer from this problem, only the newly created 1 node rac cluster environment. The problem is we don't know what that is(a parameter on the db or cluster or what) and how do we set it?
Anyone know?

Look for the Oracle Database Service. If I remember correctly, it's something like Ora<Instance_name>.
Hit the Restart button, it's the button with the icon that's a stop and start.

I'd like to "RE"start a service; which means that i want to stop and start a service only if it was running, but If i do systemctl restart myservice, systemd will start it even if it was stopped.
Also, systemctl report a successful status in stopping an already stopped service, try by yourself!

...i dont think this is right at all, it is not possible to stop a stopped thing, so it should return error imho.

To summarize, if the service is stopped:
systemctl status returns a non zero code.
systemctl stop returns a zero code.
As for your restarting issue, systemd's behavior seems logical.
It seems the opposite to me.

How to manage windows cluster on windows server 2008 R2

Hi I want to know how to properly shutdown or stop windows cluster with out failover or failing it.
I have successfully created windows cluster on win 2008 R2 sp1 using vmware with starwind software for SAN storage.
Now when I shut down or stop cluster service on node1 it failsover and shows critical errors fine.ok... I tried to destroy and clean up cluster using cmd commands.Forcecleanup both nodes with cmd commands.it was successful.
Later I recreated san storage with target and initiator configuration using starwind without any issue.
I Reinstalled FC service on both the nodes restarted vmnodes.I cheked all the firewall were disable.and machines able to ping well..
Now when I tried to recreate new cluster it fails and gives different errors.AS Node1 was evicted from cluster,Another was Quoram was lost as no witness disk was found.
Also It did not show my cluster under FCM on Node2.I tried to add node Node2 but error saying Node2 is already in a cluster.
So I want to know how to manage windows cluster properly and manage it entries in active directory so that even after shutting/stopping the service/destroying cluster I do not need to do all over again.
I had to recreate all VMware from start and do AD setup and SAN storage again then only windows cluster got successfully created once again....................
I had to recreate all vmware nodes with FC sevice reinstalled and also recreate AD DS and DNS.

InvocationService.query() doesn't work for restarted cluster member.

Thank you guys for that product, I'm very pleasured with Coherence cache.
I will try to describe the following problem with Coherence.
Our product integrated with Coherence cache and we have discovery/communication mechanism based on
- MemberListener - to get events about cluster member;
- InvocationService.query() - to communicate with remote member.
I see that when node disconnected (wire break) MemberListener works fine. And after connection repaired sometimes cluster services on node stopped or restarted.
I tested with 2 cluster islands and push/pull wire in my network router (2 coherence members on one side and 2 members on another side). Try to repair connection and see how cache merged.
If node cluster services restarted I see that Member.getUid() changed for local member and MemberListener works fine for all nodes. But remote nodes can't send anything with InvocationService.query() to that restarted member!!!
InvocationService.query() always return empty result when I try to send my AbstractInvocable to these restarted members in cluster.
Could you help?

How to Break the cluster between Two servers

Hi Experts,
Since Iu2019m new to BOBJ XI R2.I would like to know how to break the cluster between two servers.
Description :
So far we took the copy of QAS Server1 to the new QAS server2 (Through Mirroring Tool ). Now those two servers are cluster together, I can see QAS server1 CMS Name, Cluster Name, cluster member name in QAS Server2 (CMC-> Setting -> Cluster).
Besides in QAS Server1 CMS Name and Cluster name are pointing to the QAS Server1, except Cluster Member (This is still have two members Server1 and Server2).(CMC-> Setting -> Cluster).
In QAS Server1 and QAS Server2 (CMS-> Servers), I can able see both server name under Machine Name tab.
I would like to make those two servers as independent servers. There are two different data source for those two servers. I want to remove the cluster in both servers.
Right now QAS Server1 is running and QAS Server2 is stopped.
If i create/modify a group under new Mapped NT Member Groups in QAS server2 ,it is getting reflecting in QAS server 1.
Could you please tell me the steps to resolve this problem.

Hi,
Maybe the external CMS is still 'attached' to your SIA node. Please go to the CCM (Central Configuration Manager) and stop the SIA (Server Intelligent Agent). On one of the tabs you can see if there is an external CMS part of your environment. Delete it and restart the SIA. Retry if you can delete the services now from within your CMS. It may well be that you have to stop both environments and delete each others CMS via the CCM to get it working. If you have not changed any permissions for your Administrator account the security model will not be the one causing this.
