How do I restart Itunes?

I uploaded music from another computer onto itunes, but I want to upload my music again so it appears new, but if I delete my music from the library it says that it will delete it from my ipod.

Yes, it's going to do exactly that.
What do you mean by "appears new" in regards to the music in iTunes?
It's not really clear what your intentions are by doing this.  Frankly it sounds like a waste of time with no benefit.

You can use any computer but your data will be lost if you have no backup.

Thanks for the response gakker, but I've double-checked the camera / iPhoto / Image Capture scenario, and I'm 100% positive it's got nothing to do with that.
Plugging in my iPhone has no effect on anything related to this.
The other thing I should have mentioned is that when iTunes on my Mac is NOT running, then nothing happens on my iPhone screen when I plug it in to my Mac. I only get the "Sync in progress" message when iTunes IS running.
It's interesting though that you say you also get this "Sync in progress" message, albeit only for a second or two though.
Can I just double-check something with you however... When you say:
+"at no time was my iTunes playback interrupted"+
do you mean the iTunes on your Mac? Because the problem I have is that the iPod-playback on my iPhone is interrupted.
So can you clarify that for me, please? If you have music playing on your iPhone, and you then plug your iPhone into your Mac when iTunes is running on your Mac, does the music playback on the iPhone get interrupted?

  • With new iTunes 11 how do you restart podcasts that used to regular pause

With new iTunes 11 how do you restart podcasts that used to regular pause?
Before iTunes 11, a symbol would appear in individual podcast lists showing that the sender requires you to confirm that you still wish to receive their podcast. This used to occur with all my BBC podcasts once a week usually at the weekend.
Now with iTunes 11 this control seems to have disappeared. Tried all the new icons but nothing seems to do this.
Now (as its Saturday) all my BBC podcasts have stopped as there appears no way to reconfirm that I still want to automatically receive them.
    Please help!

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
With iTunes 11 you might also have a Home Videos folder inside iTunes Media.
In the simplest cases you copy the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> on the source computer to <User's Music> on the target machine, install iTunes, and it "just works"TM.
If the media folder (inside the red outline) has been split out to a separate location then you can copy the library folder (outside the red outline) as before and connect the drive holding the media so that it has exactly the same path as before. If the drive appears as D: on one system and E: on the other then the library won't be able to find the media.
The crucial file is iTunes Library.itl - this contains a record of the tracks that have been added to the library, ratings, play counts, playlists etc.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How do I use iTunes stored on a HDD on my new Macbook?

I have always had laptops with windows and have stored itunes on an external HDD. When I got a new laptop each time I would follow these instructions from a question I asked last year. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4025922
So, now I want to do the same thing but this time I bought a MacBook. How do I do it now then?

That should be fine. Either install an NTFS write driver or copy the whole iTunes folder to a drive on the Mac. If you copy the iTunes folder into <User's Music> it should "just work".
You may need to manually reconnect iTunes to your iPod Games and apps as your library is still in the pre iTunes 9 shape. Select one of each in turn, Get Info (CMD+I) and if prompted locate the relevant .ipg/.ipa file. With luck after correcting one iTunes will offer to fix the others automatically.
Once it is working delete both .xml files, iTunes will recreate one of them depending on where you've chosen to locate the library.
If you're interested in bringing the library up to date use File > Library > Organize Files > Rearrange files in the folder "iTunes Music". This will move music files into a Music subfolder inside the media folder and move iPod Games and Mobile Applications into the media folder too. When that is done, close iTunes, rename iTunes Music as iTunes Media then restart iTunes. The media folder preference should be automatically reset (but you can correct it if not) and your library will then be in standard form.

  • How to move an iTunes library

I'm retiring and moving everything from my iMac to a MacBook Pro. Is there specific procedure anywhere for moving my iTunes library (lots of purchased movies and music plus my own stuff) from the iMac to the MBP? Thanks.
    LarryMcJ

Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing. And by external drive, this could also be your other computer hooked up via a Firewire cable and booted into Target mode (or hooked up across a network together).
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.

    Hello! scottocs
Me to have the exact same problem, I can not solve the problem.
    To solve the problem:
    1. Download the twitter app from the App Store,
    2. Right click (control click) the app and click show package contents,
    3. Open contents,
    4. Copy the folder that says '_MASReceipt'
    5. Paste that folder in the same location in the app you downloaded off of the Internet, replacing the original one,
    6. You might need to restart the App Store or your computer for the change to take affect,
Please tell me how to remove this iTunes account?

  • How can I move itunes/iphoto library from SSD to HD on my new imac?

I have a lovely new imac with the SSD option. My old comps' boot disk was migrated to the SSD because it is the boot disk for the new computer. This is great and speedy but now I'd like to move my huge itunes and iphoto libraries from the SSD to the 2TB HD. I would rather not move the whole 'home' folder. I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to do this.
    with thanks in advance, nedro

Go to ~/Music/iTunes and drag & drop the iTunes Media folder to your HDD. It will not actually be moved, it will be copied. Depending on its size this can take a few minutes. When the copying is finished open iTunes and go to Preferences/Advanced. The first area is +iTunes Media folder location+. Click the Change button, browse to the location of your iTunes Media folder on the HDD and press Choose.
Quit iTunes. Then drag only the iTunes Media folder from the SSD to the Trash and empty. When you restart iTunes it will be using the media folder from it new location.
To move the iPhoto library, quit iPhoto. Got to ~/pictures and drag & drop the iPhoto Library to the HDD. It will be copied to the HDD. Drag the library on the SSD to the Trash and empty. Open iPhoto, follow the dialog in the window that appears to locate and choose your iPhoto Libray on the HDD.

Connect the iPod nano to the computer the exact same way you set up the old one. You don't need to create another Apple ID, iTunes Store account, or iTunes library.

  • How do i downgrade itunes 10.4 to itunes 10.3 in windows vista

How do I downgrade itunes 10.4 to 10.3

I just managed to downgrade from ITunes 10.5 to 10.4 w/o using Time Machine.  Typically I have Time Machine backups, but I just downgraded from OS X Lion too, and was still trying to get my MacBook fine tuned again before doing a fresh backup again.
So it was a long shot, but here's what I tried and it worked perfect.  It also might appear to be difficult, but as long as you can cut/paste and know a little about file folders, this won't take more than 5 minutes.
    1. I removed the entire itunes folder from the "Music" folder and copied it to the desktop.
    (Macintosh HD/users/<yourname>/Music/iTunes)
    2. I downloaded iTunes 10.4 and did a fresh install.  I restarted the application, which recreated the iTunes folder (and files) back in the "Music" folder.  Then quit the application completely.
    3. I went to the original iTunes folder that I copied to the desktop, and deleted the most recent file from the iTunes library.  For the purpose of this illustration...I had several, but my latest was "iTunes Library 2011-08-16.itl".
    (Desktop/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries/iTunes Library 2011-08-16.itl)
    4. Now cut/paste the "original" file from desktop back into the iTunes folder you've just recreated.  When it prompts you to overwrite the existing files, reply "YES" to all, and let the folder finish.
    5. Your Done!  Now open iTunes again...all your files and playlists, will be there.
The reason I downgraded, was the new iTunes 10.5, wouldn't collapse on my MacBook so I could see all playlists and detailed song info.  It basically opened up "full screen", but only allowed me to scroll through song files, but not playlists, etc.
I hope this helps somebody...I was really struggling because of the size of my music library (24,000+), and really didn't want to begin with a fresh install, and recreating my playlists from scratch.
    Good Luck!
