I am missing my Recovery Partition on my MacBook Pro (Retina), so I cannot activate Find My Mac. How can I restore the missing recovery partition?

Can't boot from recovery partition in Mountain Lion
I've installed Mountain Lion on two different boxes so far: a 20" iMac at home and a Mac Mini at work. Both had up to date Lion installations prior to the upgrade. After installing Mountain Lion I am not able to boot in to the recovery partition on either one. Whether I hold down Command-R to go directly to the recovery parittion, or simply hold down Option to get a choice of boot devices, I am taken directly to the login screen.
The recovery partition is there on both boxes, and I can mount it and examine it using 'diskutil' from the command line. I created a USB image of the recovery partition on the iMac, and the Startup Disk control panel allowed be to select it as a boot device, but the box (both boxes, actually; I also tried it on the Mini) booted directly to the login screen.
I honestly don't know whether I could boot to the recovery partition prior to upgrading to Mountatin Lion or not. When I first installed Lion on the iMac I did not get a recovery paritition, but Apple sent me a USB drive and after cleaning up the disk (getting rid of an unused Boot Camp partition) I was able to get a clean install with a functioning recovery paritition. However I never booted from it after confirming that it worked.
Anyone else see anything like this? Or have an idea how to fix it?

Then in that article a link to download or find the Recovery HD utility on the Apple website.
But that was originally for Lion. So you may have to rebuild the Lion R-HD then Reinstall Mt Lion over the top of your current install of Mt Lion for it to make the Mt Lion R-HD.
Depending on the age of your Mac's you may also be able to use the Online (Internet) Recovery HD system. To get to that with a R-HD partition on the system, even if that R-HD partition sin't working, you hold down Command+Option+r keys when starting the system (And yes with the USB keyboard attached). -

The menubar in my copy of OS X Mountain Lion disappeared at some point between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. CST. It was present prior to 9 a.m. then I left to attend Christmas festivities and, upon my return home, it's now missing. I restarted my Mac Pro once and it showed back up momentarily but has since disappeared again and multiple restarts haven't restored it.
My Mac Pro seems to be functioning normally and the installed applications will launch.I tried a "Guest" account but no menu bar displayed.
We did have some thunderstorms move through my location (northeast Texas) earlier today and I'm wondering if perhaps there might be a connection. However, as I originally stated, my Mac Pro seems to be running normally and all of the apps that I have tried to launch have done so without fail.
It's been a long day and it's getting late. I think that I'm going to just get a good night's rest then tackle this annoyance again tomorrow. -
Recreate missing recovery partition
After wiping my computer via partitioning from a USB installer, and reinstalling from the USB, I noticed when I tried to boot that there is no recovery partition. Just OS X and Windows (bootcamp). Is there a proprietary built in Apple way to recreate the recovery partiton?
CCC Carbon Copy Cloner has a utility called "Disk Center" that is included with CCC that will create a Recovery Partition for you. I understand that CCC is not free, but it does have a free 30 day trial.
I did use the musings.silvertooth.us utility to create a missing recovery partition successfully, but found (1) it hard to find the right version on that site and (2) I was somewhat uncomfortable running a low-level AppleScript install program style utility built by an unknown source on the internet. Call my paranoid, but in the future I would prefer to either use CCC to avoid losing my recovery partition like I did with Super Duper (which I've loved for years until this missing recovery partition issue) or use CCC to create missing recovery partitions.
The "Disk Center" in CCC Carbon Copy Cloner is not obvious and easy to find... it's easy to not know it's there. But once you find it in the CCC menu system, it is seemingly obvious that it is a turnkey way to create a Recovery HD Partition.
I just thought I would share, since I burned several hours of pain-staking research and experimentation on this. -

NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. You'll need to do it again after each system update that's applied.

Enter BIOS by tapping away at the F10 key immediately after powering on. Is all system info complete there?

1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/

f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
drive size.
3. Use Lion DiskMaker 2.0 to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.

No, as far as I know, each one is completely separate - especially if you're dealing with two different versions of OS's.

I've personally never done it on a running drive - have read it's possible, but don't want to suggest it since I've never done it and wouldn't be sure about the steps. This is how I got to two partitions on my iMac:
Originally, I had just one partition with Snow Leopard. I used CCC to clone that to an external drive. Booted into that drive and used DU to partition and erase the internal. I then cloned the new clone back. Also cloned the same thing to the other partition which I then upgraded to Lion. So I had two OS's - SL and Lion. I've now decided to clone my SL to an external drive for occasional use and installed ML on that partition - so now I have Lion and ML.
There are two ways to get a "fresh" install: either download the OS again and install it on a partition of your choice or, as I've done as well, copy the installer to a safe place so you don't need to download it again. It does include whatever apps/software is included in the OS. I've designated two smaller partitions on externals as my "fresh" installs of both Lion and ML for emergency or reinstall purposes (this is my way of dealing with not having install DVDs) - I took the time to install it there and then slowly add fresh installs of my important apps (either via download or install CD) - don't bother with the little/less used stuff, a current copy of that can be downloaded if and when I need it. I don't really update those two - that can also be done if/when I need it since that'll always change.
So, yesterday, I decided I wanted to start fresh with ML - booted into my fresh install of Lion (on external), wiped the SL partition on my internal and installed Lion. Decided to download a fresh copy of the ML installer and installed that. Then ran Software Update. After that, repaired permissions. Then I methodically opened every third party app and checked for updates - installed those where necessary. After all that, I simply copied (drag 'n drop) my entire Documents folder (which contains all my important data,, photos, etc) over from another backup.
This took a while, but mostly because of the long download times; the installs weren't all that bad. I should be running a really clean system now, especially since nothing was ported over except my Documents folder. -

Unless your account is based in the US then you can't re-download it for free (and not all films can be redownloaded in the US) - if you are in the US then you could see if it's in your purchase history for re-downloading. Otherwise, have you not got a copy of it on your computer's iTunes and/or on a backup ?

If you are using 10.7, you should have a recovery partition, now. Installing 10.8 will install or update the recovery partition if it can. If you have a drive partitioning scheme setup that prevents the recovery partition from being added, then I don't think 10.8 will change that.
