How do I restore from backup manually?

Hi i lost everything on my iphone so now I'm trying to restore from backup. When i right-click on my iphone in itunes and click "restore from backup" I can only see 5 backups from last year, 2010.. But when i look in <Drive>:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup there's 2 more from august this year. How do I restore my iphone using these maps/files. Thank you

The restore from backup process is all or nothing, & if you've been told NOT to restore from backup, there is no supported way to "selectively" restore an iPhone backup. You can use third-party software to "extract" data from your backup:

I know how to restore from backup.  the problem is that the missing data won't stay in my ipod.  for a few seconds, my missing data is recovered (contacts, calendars, reminders) but then the message appears that says memory is too full, and the data disappears again.  Any ideas?

  • How do I restore from backup on iPhone 4S?

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 on Wednesday and last synced it with my Mac on Thursday night at 11:30pm before going to bed.  I bought the iPhone 4S on Friday morning and started it as a new iPhone.  I think that I did something wrong, because I never saw the option to "Restore From Backup" so that I could port over my last iPhone 4 with iOS 5 back up.  Can someone tell me if/how I can do this?  Maybe I need to restore my 4S and start over. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Bryan.  Sorry to sound like such an idiot.  The first time I tried that, but backup options didn't auto populate.  I restored the 4S and followed your advice above.  Worked like a charm.

  • HT201274 how do i restore from backup

I tried to update my iphone to iOS 6, but it got disconnected and had errors, now i don't have all my contacts.  how do i restore from a backup?

If the backup is on your computer, connect the phone to your computer (or, if you have enabled WiFi sync, just click on the iPhone's button in iTunes) and click the "Restore from Backup" button on the iTunes summary screen.
If your back up to iCloud go to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. You will then be prompted to restore from your iCloud backup.

  • Bookmarks - how do you restore from backups?

My bookmarks disappeared......... something happened while I was trying to copy old folders into the new User - and it made it disappear from my old user account!
How do you restore the bookmarks from the BackUp on MobileMe iDisk, or even the one that is on my iPhone? Should still be there............
everything says it's Syncing but the bookmarks don't seem to want to restore..........
    Thanks

    Hi
Let's try a different approach as something odd has occurred with your iDisk.
What is your "old folder" source? If it contains the HD>Users>Your User Account>Library>Safari folder, inside there you'll find bookmarks.plist. Move it to the same location on your computer, replacing the existing file.

  • How do I restore from backup? Menu option gone

    Hi,
I am stunned as I can't seem to find the option to restore my phone from a backup anymore. I know it used to be there, but can't seem to find it.
I need to be able to do it, as per my network provider, to get it unlocked as I am past my contract term. Their instructions were: backup your phone, restore from that backup and you are done.
    Step 1 - done. Step 2 - Help??
    Thanks in advance!
    Svetlana

That's odd... I tried again, 10 minutes later and the option was back there. Apparently you just can't restore right after you sync

I think it's QuickTime player causing the problem, when I try to open it I get the windows error that an error has occured
Let's try swapping out your QuickTime again, taking a few extra explicit precautions this time.
Head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
    7. Restart your computer.
Now download and save a copy of the latest standalone QuickTime installer to your hard drive. (We'll run the install from there rather than online.)
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install. Start the install by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe.
If that install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching iTunes again. Does your iTunes launch properly now?
(If you get an error message on the QuickTime uninstall or standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. Include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • HT1766 After restoring my iphone 4 to factory settings, then restoring from a recent backup, my phone will reboot but keeps coming back to the "new setup or restore from backup screen". How can I by-pass this screen to go directly to the sync apps/music s

After restoring my iphone 4 to factory settings, then restoring from a recent backup, my phone will reboot but keeps coming back to the "new setup or restore from backup screen". How can I by-pass this screen to go directly to the sync apps/music screen?

Well, it's certainly behaving as though the phone that was backed up was synced to a different iTunes library.
I'm going to throw one more thing out there... Yes, you backed it up to this computer... Was the phone previously set up to sync with this computer? Or was it syncing with a different computer and you just backed it up to this one?
You may have to end up setting it up as a new device and rebuilding the phone by manually re-syncing your data, apps, music, etc. to the phone.
Trying to keep your library on a different drive can be tricky. If iTunes starts up and the library isn't available, it may end up generating a new library ID, meaning that you could easily find yourself in exactly the position you're in now...
I'm curious why there was a need to restore your phone to begin with... It may not have any bearing on this at all, but it could.

  • Hi, I upgraded my girlfriend's iPad 2 using my iMac, however, her iPad was sync with her PC. Although I've made backup earlier, when I restore from backup the apps doesn't sync back, neither her documents on pages. How can I put then back to her iPad?

The backup saves many settings, but it copies photos and other files from the computer back to the iPad after IOS5 wipes the disk.   Plugging it into her computer will re-sync it.

  • HT201250 How do I restore from Timeline external backup to a different drive?

Good day!  Here's my current architecture
    1 MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.2
1 Lacie Rugged External Drive (1T)
    1 G Drive 2T RAID
    1 MyPassport External Drive (2T)
I have been backing up weekly both the MacBook Pro AND the Lacie to the RAID Device.
Lacie Rugged: My Lacie has my iTunes.  Recently there have been issues with communicating with the Lacie.  Genius bar says there is an issue with the drive itself.  I purchased a new Firewire to troubleshoot.  Still shows that the drive accidentally disconnects (e.g. not available) after about a couple of minutes.
So I bought a new drive.
Restore: When I plug in my new MyPassport and access my Timeline backups, I cannot see the Lacie backups to restore.  It seems that Timeline requires the original drive (Lacie) to be plugged in (which is the one I am having issues with).
Question: How do I restore from a backup(Lacie) to my new external drive(MyPassport)?

I imagine you mean Time Machine, not TimeLine. If you do mean Timeline, I have no idea what that is.

I have multiple apple ids was backing up everything to iCloud from iPhone 5. I just bought iPhone 6 and perform a iCloud restore. I received a message that all files did not restore.   How can I restore apps, files manually?

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

  • Iphone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore, only option available now is to "restore and update" however this will not work, how can you restore from a backup once in recovery mode and only option is "restore and upgrade"? Please help!

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?
    Please help.

You don't you must restore your phone first and then you will have the option to restore from your backup.

  • How can I see my messages after restoring from backup?

I have 2.1gb of messages saved in my storage on my 4s but they're not in messages after restoring from backup.
How can I get all my messages back in my message app because I know they're their it's just a matter of getting them restored into the app.

When you restored your phone from an old backup, it wiped ALL data from your phone and replaced it with the data from that backup.  It's like your phone went back in time.
Your data that was on the phone before you did the restore is now gone forever.  There is no way to get these data back.
