How do I restore my last tab session?

I've been searching around but can't come across an answer to actually get my tab session back on Firefox.
I've got the most up to date one 34.0.5
Restore Tab Session is greyed out. On the Firefox start page there is nothing there.
People on forums seemed to mention something in the way of sessionstore.bak and other similar files but I can't seem to find them.
Is there a spot that the sessions get stored that I can restore from?
Thank you.

"Restore Tab Session" isn't a default menu item in Firefox. ''"Restore Previous Session" is the English locale menu item wording.''
Do you have a "tab / session" related add-on installed?
Or are you using other then an English locale version of Firefox?
Also, can you provide a screenshot of the your homepage?

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.
Then use the '''Browse ....''' button below the '''''Post a Reply''''' text box to upload the screenshot.

You can make a backup copy of the sessionstore.js file that stores session data.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

Your redemption code was used to acquire an activation code.  The activation code is what you need to use when you want to reinstall/enable the software again.  Check your Adobe account online to see if the number(s) can be found there.

  • How do I restore Firefox Last Session?

    After a crash: bp-1dc9064f-fcc3-44f8-9c04-e058d2120127
I missclicked Restore Session button and clicked on the New Session instead. Then I tried to click on the History -> Restore Last Session button but it was "grey" (i.e. inactive).
I thought it is some bug, so I took the common advice (Have you tried to turn it off and on?) and closed Firefox and run it once again. Now the button was active. So I clicked on it, but it just took me to the previous wrong session.
Realizing I'm in great trouble I googled and find out about Sessionrestore.js and Sessionrestore.bak ... but too late I read I have to close Firefox first and then edit those ...
So I renamed the backup, closed Firefox -> which just saved the session and overwrite the file ... open it ... and everything was doomed and screwed by me ...
I had opened about 300 tabs of unsaved (not in bookmarks) work from past few years ... URLs I do not have in bookmarks neither in history - as I simply do not close and reopen them ... Mainly a huge pile of important articles I was digging through.
I tried to search my local drive for some more backup files ... only one I came acroos with the name and date seeming to be old enough was: startupCache.4.little. Immediatly I made a copy of it, just to ensure I won't screw any single remaining chance to somehow restore my last session ...
Now if I remember it correct, after every single crash of Firefox, there's a report being send to Mozilla and in this report there should be included pages that were open during the crash.
So my question is: How to get to the data from this report? (ID above) And how to extract the URLs of the tabs opened during that crash from it?
Second question: Is there any other way of how to get to the data (URLs)?
PS: My history contains about 50.000 of URLs, I tried to dig through, but that was somewhat impractible ...
PPS: I tried to use the Shadow copy method -since I run Windows 7, but somewhat despite Drive Protection being On space assigned to it was 0% ...
It just seems to me that some higher power wanted really badly to wipe my Session off ... well if so I respect it, but if there just a tiny little bit of a chance to restore it I'M ONE BIG EAR!!!

I would recommend taking a look at this article:
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Mozilla_Crash_Reporter http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Mozilla_Crash_Reporter]
It should help you find the data, using your crash report number. Hopefully that contains what you need.

  • After Firefox crashes, how do I restore a Private Browsing Session, or the tabs?

Windows XP, Ser. Pk. #3, FF Ver. 20.0.1, I think that's all of the information that would be needed . . . if not, just ask me for anything else that you need. I'm going to refrain from restarting FF, or shutting down my computer until someone replies. Hopefully that'll help. I haven't restarted my computer or FF either since the crash. But here's what happened. I was browsing, clicked on a link, and the page was loading. Then both the reg. FF window, and the Private Browsing Session window closed. Then, the box asking what you want done, because FF crashed window appeared. I chose to send all of my information to FF, the web URLs, along with my email address, [email protected], to FF, and chose the restart FF option. The main FF window appeared with the white page, and the option to disable any previous tabs in case they're the reason FF crashed with the restart previous session, or start new one. I chose to restart the previous session. My main stuff all restarted, but the private browsing window, and tabs did not. I'm hoping there's a back door way, or some other way to get into the FF files and restore that private browsing session. Perhaps there's a way to at least get access to the URLs. That's all that I really need. I'm not going to restart anything as I said above, and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me out. Thank you in advance.

I suspect that Firefox doesn't store session history for private windows, but you could try rescuing all the sessionstore files in your currently active personal settings folder (also known as your Firefox profile folder) just in case.
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
That should take you to the critical folder. Try copying all sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a different location (e.g., Documents) where there's no danger of Firefox overwriting them.
If you check the timestamps, can you tell which one has the best chance of having your old windows and tabs? Open that one in a text editor. You may need to turn on text wrapping. If you can remember any text from the URL or title of the page you were viewing, try searching in the text to see whether you can find it. If not, the quest may be futile.

  • Left-click on firefox icon in taskbar shows a list of all tabs. how to just open to last tab?

I use the tab grouping feature a lot. That means I have 100s of tabs open at any one time.
The problem: once one switch between tab groups, the Firefox icon on the taskbar changes to what looks like multiple echoes of the Firefox icon. I guess it is supposed to represent multiple tab groups.
Before Firefox 20 one could click on the Firefox icon on the taskbar, and Firefox would come up and show the last tab I have been working on.
Since Firefox 20 a left-click on the Firefox icon on the taskbar now shows a tab list of 28+ seemingly random tabs. Many of them just says "Mozilla Firefox" instead of the website represented by that tab (because the tab was not accessed recently).
To open Firefox to the last tab I have been working on is now a real chore. I now have to pick one of these 28+ tabs (which is 99% of the time the wrong tab), then switch to the correct tab group, and then find the tab I have been working on. It typically takes 5-10 clicks to get back to where I was before I minimized Firefox, or before Firefox lost the focus. (In the past I could simply click on the Firefox icon on the taskbar, and Firefox restored where I last left off.)
How can I turn off the tab list that pops up when one left-click or hover the mouse over the Firefox icon on the taskbar? I would love to get the ability to minimize/restore Firefox back by clicking on the Firefox icon on the taskbar as it was in the past, not get a choice of random tabs.

Okay, with a lack of replies here, here are some solutions I came up with:
    * Quit Firefox and restart it. It reduces the number of clicks to just two. It is even faster than wading through the list of tab groups and tabs to get back to the last tab I was working on.
    * Use Alt-Tab to switch between applications instead of clicking on the Firefox icon on the taskbar. I'll have to change my habits, as I'm used to clicking on the icon to toggle between applications, especially if one has many applications open. I typically have a dozen applications open at any time, and Alt-Tabbing through them all can be time-consuming.
    * I found nothing that seems related in the about:config screens, e.g. an option to turn off tab.list
    * Switch to Chrome.
Anyone got better ideas or solutions?

  • How do I restore to a tab a tab that I have accidentally opened in a new window?

When you right on the tab header, there is an option there that says "Open in a New Window." This option can likewise be achieved when you left click on the tab header and drag it downward. When chosen (or done), and as a matter of course, the tab opens in a new window.
Sometimes by movement in between tabs, I will accidentally open a tab in a new window, separating it from the other related tabs I have already open. How do I restore or revert that new window back to tab form?

You can drag a tab back from that new window onto the tab bar of another window in the position where you want it. If that makes a window empty then that window is closed automatically.

  • How do i restore my new tab page?

When I open a new tab, a web page in unknown language opens. I've tried changing the settings in about:config page, but when I restart my PC the problem persists. I've also tried installing the search reset addon, it solved my problem for an instant but again, when i restarted my PC, the problem is still there.

here is how you restore or change your new tab. Thanks to jscher2000 in another post.
    Quoting
"Here is how you can reset what the tab does. If this setting does not stick, one of your add-ons might be overriding it.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
    (i) Page thumbnails (default)
    about:newtab
    (ii) Blank tab
    about:blank
    (iii) Built-in Firefox home page
    about:home
    (iv) Any other page
    full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked."
I hope this helped you it sure helped me and Thanks jscher2000, you saved me from pulling my hair out.

  • I have multipl tabs as my home page. How can I restore a single tab to home without restting them all

In Internet explorer, my home page consists of four separate tabs. If I click the home page drop down menu, I can select which tab I want the current open tab to restore to. Only that single tab is affected. ie, if I have been surfing in more than one tab, but want to retain some but go 'home' on the others, I can with IE. With Firefox, I have to restore all four tabs.
If I click the home button in IE, it will open the four tabs starting from the open tab. Fiurefox adds a completely new set.
Am I missing something, or do you plan to address this.
I was hoping to come away from IE as it has too many instability problems, however, it still offers more functionality than either Firefox or Chrome.

If you want to open a specific tab(s) the use a folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar and middle click the folder to open all bookmarks in it in tabs or open the folder an click an item to open one of them. Firefox will then open that single bookmark in the current tab, but will open the set in new tabs if you middle-click the bookmark or folder. You can't customize the home page to do that, but you can check the Add-ons page to see if there is an extension that adds that feature.
