I tried turning off contacts but no msg pops up like I've read in other posts.

Lost contacts using iCloud

Hi guys,
At the first, I have synced the contacts to iCloud using my MacBook from iPhone4. Some months back, I deleted some of my contacts in MacBook's Address Book that were synced. But, did not deleted contacts in iPhone. I guess, Mac & iPhone got synced while in Internet and I can't figure out those deleted contacts in iPhone.
Please help to retrieve those deleted contacts!

I still remember I back up using iTunes in MacBook. I think, it was 2 months back. Is there any chances of losing apps if I restore the back up?

Lost Contacts, used iCloud but nothing.

Last night before I fell asleep my iphone asked me to input my icloud apple info, so I did and everything seems fine. I get a text this morning and it just shows their number. I go to my contacts and see that everything is gone. I try syncing it with itunes but nothing, I go to iCloud.com to see my contacts online and they are still there which means they are still in iCloud.
How do I get them back onto my phone then?

Is Contact syncing enabled under the iCloud account?

How do I restore groups to Contacts using time machine? I somehow managed to duplicate many groups and contacts in Contacts, so I deleted everything and tried to restore them using time machine backup from a few days before. It restored all my contacts, but none of my groups. If you select a group and click restore it will restore all the contacts in the group, but not the group itself. I had many groups with many contacts in each and would really prefer not to do this manually. I can see the groups in the time machine backup, but cannot figure out how to restore them. I know from researching online that with Address Books and previous operating systems you could go to ~Library/Applications Support/AddressBook and restore the whole file, but either this operating systems hides the necessary files or Contacts is set up differently than AddressBook was. I am using OS 10.9.5 and Contacts version 8.0 on a MacbookPro 13 inch mid 2010.

Here is what I have tried:
1. Finder>Go>(Option)Library>Address Book(highlighted)with files showing in right column. Opened Time Machine and Address Book folder is there. Tried to go back to several previous dates from several months ago. None will highlight in order for the Restore button to light up.
2. Finder>Mac HD (under Devices)>(Option)Library>Address Book (same as above). Again, cannot go anywhere back in time to highlight a date for Restore button to light up.
Note: I was able to use Time Machine to restore my Contacts with no problem. However, they are All Contacts only and did not restore my Groups. I do know how to make groups again and highlight and drag them back, but wanted to see if there was a way to restore the groups. I will post another question as to why my Time Machine won't let me restore the Address Book as well as the Contacts. Thank you for your time and patience.

FYI in case anyone is following this:
I selected the one game I wanted to restore, I resynced. iTunes reinstalled the game but the DATA WAS NOT RESTORED.
So the question I have for APPLE: *** is the purpose of DATA BACKUP when SYNC cannot RESTORE it? Apps are backed up, data is backed up, but SYNC only restores the app. APPLE + iTUNES = CRAP.

I tried to restore from the cloud today after my contacts disappeared. I went to Settings-ICloud-Contacts and turned off my contacts. Now the phone is stuck on "Turning off contacts." Documents do not get lost, they do get deleted. If you deleted - you need to look for local back up.
If you "lost" you need to check if they still in the cloud at icloud.com

As I said, and Varjak said, if it is setup in iCloud, login to iCloud from your comptuier or other device, click on Find My and find the entry for the iPod, and if it is turned on and connected to the internet it will show up.

it does not seem to work for me. I have backed up my iphone 5s with a back up from my previous 4. the back-up process works fine, I can see all my contacts in the phone but then I activate icloud (on which there are no contacts) and all my contacts disappear instantly... I tried 5 times now and everytime the same result. I'm considering to stop using the cloud all together.

There is an option, under Advanced, on the Info Pane in iTunes to replace all contacts on your phone with what's on your computer for the next sync only. So, edit everything on your computer & use that method.
