How do I restore my previous ITUNES library?

I recently got a new hardrive from Apple. Almost done restoring my files of my old harddrive from my cloud based back/recovery tool CARBONITE. I am a DJ and I need to recover all my music and playlists as they were before I took my hardrive out (100% backed up). Whats the best way to do this? Carbonite claimed that I wouldn't have to touch my ITUNES, it would re-appear as it was previously with all the playlists, but after the struggle I have had with this recovery to date, I am guessing this might not take place.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Rion.

I do have access to these two files above also from my online portal..If that helps. Why is the .itl file back up older than the .xml I have no idea...Should I and can I use the .xml file to recover my playlist?

  • How can I restore my previous iTunes library?

I placed the iTunes library file in an external hard drive and had the folders containing the usic in different locations (pc hard drive and two external HD). But then some months ago the compueter from which I were running iTunes crash down ans subsequently I had to replace its hard disc though I managed to keep all the folders wwith my music. Now my question is: how can I do to restore my previous library? Since I have a really big amont of albums, I had them distributed in different devices (5 iPods + 1 iPhone) so I think it is nit possible to get the whole library back form one single of the devices. Thank you for your help.

Pedro, I haven’t had a need to do this myself, but here is a link that describes different methods to consolidate multiple itunes libraries: http://ipod.about.com/od/restoreandreformatipod/tp/Consolidate-Itunes-Library-Fr om-Many-Pcs-To-One.htm
Also, here is something on recreating a itunes library from the xml file. http://fixmyapple.com/troubleshooting-guides/how-to-re-create-your-itunes-librar y/. You should have the xml if you backed up the itunes folder before the crash.

  • Is iTunes 11.1.5 compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.8? If not how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

Problem: Recently when I open iTunes it doesn't work; the little pinwheel just keeps spinning.
I have tried leaving it on, as suggested by another user, for over 12 hours. I didn't work.
I think the new iTunes version, 11.1.5, is not compatible with the operating system; Mac OSX 10.6.8. If this is so, how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

You need to be updated to iTunes 11.2.2.
You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files.
    Combo updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - 1.09 GB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
After running the combo updater, select Software Updater and update iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open after updating, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes. It will ask you to locate your iTunes Library.
Note: I've seen users with their iTunes Library on an external drive spin like this when the drive was failed to be seen in Disk Utility. Run Repair Drive on the external drive to fix this issue.

  • I have lost my previous itunes library and the content is no longer on my ipod touch.  How do I recover my previous itunes library?  I have already tried the backup but because the content was erased from my ipod that did not work.

I have lost my previous itunes library content after atempting to sync my ipod.  Is there any way that apple can provide me with a history restore for an itunes library?

if you have all the songs still on your ipod you can put them back on your computer from the ipod... just DONT LET ITUNES SYNC WITH YOU IPOD when you plug it back in. change the settings to manual control for syncing ipods or your itunes will delete all of them. i dont know what to do for the unchecked songs... i had a similar situation and i used a mac program to take the songs off of my ipod. hope this helps.. just google for an application that will let ya take songs off the ipod.

  • How to use/access my previous itunes library in itunes.

I accidently deleted all my songs then emptied trash (i am on a mac, and i sick of window users solving their problems) and now i have 1/90th of my songs (i have around 2,500 songs. I still have my video, but i want my songs back. There is the previous library i had before the upgrade to 7.6, that is very recent. I've tried to downgrade (7.5) then import my previous itunes library, but that wont work. CAN SOMEBODY RUNNING MAC PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET MY PREVIOUS ITUNES LIBRARY BACK INTO MY CURRENT ITUNES LIBRARY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Locate the iTunes folder from the user profile on the rescued drive, typically at X:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes. Delete the "empty" iTunes library from your current User's Music folder and copy in the originial library in its place.

I was having problems with my hard drive on my desktop computer.  I made a back up of my itunes account to an external hard drive.  I now have my computer back.  How do I restore my itunes account to the desktop so that I can sync my music and movies?

  • How do I find my previous ITunes library.

I bought music for the first time from Itunes and now that is the only music in my library. When I connect my Ipod Nano to the computer, it says it is synced to another Itunes library, but I don't know where that is?? I want all my music back in 1 library.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for you reply Carolyn, but how can I get back to the original library?  The first music I added all I remember doing was plugging the Ipod in and a blank library opening, then dragging or copying music from my CD's into the folder. But when I bought music from Itunes the original 300 are gone and the 40 I bought from Itunes is the only music there. So I am thinking since the 2 can't be merged if I can get back to the original library with the 300 songs I can copy the 40 songs I bought from Itunes and add them that way.  But, how do I get back into the original library? Thanks

  • How do I add a previous itunes library to my iTunes?

I have old itunes libraries on my desktop, the .itl files.  but when I try and drag them or copy paste them to itunes they bounce out.  suggestions?  thanks very much

"I don't want to use an external hard drive as I don't have one."
Where do you keep your backup copy? Just use your backup copy. This is one of the many reasons a backup is very basic.
"I cannot use my iTouch "
True. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod - with the ipod touch.
You can also use cd's dvd's etc.
Go to the top of this screen and type "move itunes library" in the search bar next to the word "support".

  • How do I restore audiobooks from iTunes library?

I was trying to delete some old audiobooks from my iPad, and all of my audiobooks were deleted. In reading questions here, I found what I thought would help me, but I cannot find the iTunes library, where do I look for this? I've probably lost all my audiobooks, but I want to understand this process so this doesn't happen again.

Okay, but just to be clear .. do you actually have a question someone else can answer?
I guess you missed the fact that the post you chimed in with your "Me too, but even worse" contribution was actually from 8 months ago? And there hasn't been a lot of chatter on this issue since?
Most of what you talk about has everything to do with iTunes and nothing to do with iPad, which leads to the obvious question: Why are you posting here? Why not the iTunes forums, and why not talking to iTunes support?
Oh right. It's because you're now so done with Apple! so, really, why bother, right?
So long, then, and thanks for contributing.

after using the migration assistant, it appears that only my iTunes purchases loaded into my library on the new MCB, not allllll the other mp3's i've loaded in from other sources, although they are sitting in the back.up folders on my external drive. those mp3's have to be opened manually to get them back into iTunes. there has to be a more effiecient way to load these tunes right?????

The second Article guides you to copy the whole iTunes Folder which will include linbrary and all media type:

  • How do I restore just the iTunes library from the cloud?

I cloned my Mac Book Pro and now the songs appear on the laptop with an exclamation point.  It asks me to locate the file but they are not on the laptop.  Is there any way to retrieve the files from the iMac I cloned it from?  Or from my iPhone or iPad, that still have the library?

There is behind the scenes stuff so just copyng the drive without performing certain tasks doesn't always work.
You can use a program such as SuperDuper (http://www.shirt-pocket.com) or Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC from http://www.bombich.com) these seem to be the most popular Mac cloning software programs.
