How do I restore Safari to version previous to 7.0?

I am very unhappy with the current version of Safari and would like to revert back to the version of Safari that displayed my top sites in the theater style. I bought my first Mac in 1988 and have had very little to complain about in all these years but I do not like the new top sites because it is actually harder for me to locate the website I want to visit. I am now retired and still a loyal Apple customer but I need Apple to realize there are some of us older Apple fans that would like a little consideration. The theater tops sites version gave my ailing eyes more differentiation in colors and the actual mini web site image that made it a snap for me to get to where I wanted to go on the web. Would it not be possible to give the customers the option of how we would like to view our top sites in Safari?  Maybe some folks prefer the flat, bland design but I vote for the theater design because it differentiated Apple from all the other browsers out there. It also was a continuation of what I called "elegant computing" on my mac. It was to me what has made Apple "classy" all these years but most of all I the theater design was perfect for me now that I'm retired. I am probably on my last mac since I retired and am on limited income so I would love it to continue to work for me as it has in the past.
I have the same complaint for the lack of book shelves in iBooks. Having the wood shelves also made it much easier for me to locate the book I wanted because of the contrast in background colors not to mention the book shelves were "class plus one".  Again, would it be possible to give the customer the option of how they would like to view their library in iBooks. Just a thought.
I appreciate any helpful responses. Thank you.

You can't use earlier Safari's with Mavericks.  Restore a cloned backup, or

  • How do I restore an adjusted version from Time Machine?

    I use time machine.
    How do I restore an adjusted version?
    E.g. I take a 1000 pix, bring them into a project, spend a few days making adjustments.
    Client cancels project.
    I delete project.
    Month later I figure out a new market for that project.  (Yeah, I shouldn't have been so quick to delete...Work with me)
    I can restore the masters from Time Machine. (I use referenced images)
    How do I recover my adjustments, without overwriting my library?  Groveling through the .aplibrary they are stored as xml files, but there is a chane of references and set of encoding that is not transparent.
    At this point the ONLY way I can see is to:
    *  Rename my present library
    *  Restore the entire library, whcih if I have lots of images can take hours.
    *  Find the project.
    *  Export the project.
    *  Delete extra library.
    *  Rename my original library.
    While this gets my adjustments back, it does NOT get them back in an editable form.  they are now locked in.
    Is there a way to export versions as version info?  E.g. as an xml file that sits in the same directory as the master?
    Spin the question differently.  How can I send YOU a set of versions of a particular master, WITHOUT copying the data of the master for each version.
    Say we have referenced files on a network server.  I want to send you a version, but NOT the master.
    E.g.  I send you ONE master, and 6 versions of it.  In YOUR version of aperture how can you load the 6 versions to continue tweeking them.

    There is another, huge thread on TM backups on this forum and exactly this issue has come up. Sadly, no one has a perfect answer. I do not have a spare drive available to test this myself, but I would try something along these lines.
    -- Ask TM to restore your full Library and the Masters, if Referenced. I believe that TM will give you the option to not overwriting your current Library, but be careful. However you do, stick this "Recovery Library" out somewhere. (Yes, this is gonna take some time, run it overnight.)
    -- Open "Recovery" with Aperture and select the Project(s) that contain the images you want. Export these "Projects as New Library."  (Don't export as either Versions or Masters.) I would select the box "Consolidate Masters" and I would probably discard the Previews. Stick this somewhere.
    -- Now open "Original Library" and import the "Library" that you exported back into your Original Library as something like "Stupid Lost Project."
    -- You should now have a Project full of adjusted, and adjustable images. (N.B. this is basically the technique I use with my laptop. I shoot, load into AP3 on the laptop, noodle, and then export/import into AP3 on the MacPro when I get home.)
    -- Clean up. (Delete "Recovery", convert the recovered Project back to Referenced Masters, if you wish, etc.)
    One good argument for never throwing those old USB drives away.
    I have missed some of the details in the process, so be careful, but I believe that this will work until Apple lets us run Aperture inside Time Machine.
    Best wishes.

  • How can I restore an older version (before the sync)?

    I'm using Numbers on my iPad and my Macbook.
    Yesterday I opened my Macbook and for some reason it opened the Numbers app but didn't sync.
    I didn't really need to work on the file so I just left it open.
    A few hours later I wanted to do some work on my iPad.
    It prompted me with a "there's a newer version on your Macbook" and asked me if I want to sync to that version.
    I actually forgot I didn't do any work on my computer and tapped on the sync button.
    Now I lost all of the information since before the sync.
    How can I restore the older version on the iPad - before the sync?

    From your last backup.

    how can i restore safari web browser on my mac book pro?

    Backup your system/data then start up holding down Command + R and select to reinstall your OS X. You have not mentioned which OS X you are using. If you have somehow deleted the Safari App for some reason, you need to reinstall the OS X to reinstall Safari properly. You should not lose any data, but if you do, then that is what the backup is for.

  • How do I prevent Safari from suggesting previously visited websites?

    Hi all, I am going nuts here!!
    How do I stop Safari on my ipad mini from suggesting a long list of old websites everytime I start entering a website ?
    Yes, I have cleared cache and I have cleared the history as well as the Cookies & Data in Settings.
    I have tried using Private Browser mode without luck.
    I do I stop this??!!!?
    I can of course completely wipe and reset the iPad, but thats no good as that will remove all my apps and everything.
    There´s gotta be a way to do.
    Also another question: When I first started the iPad Mini up, it somehow imported all my bookmarks from my windows machine..?!?!
    How is that possible? I never imported anything
    I don´t want that either ! And everytime I receive an SMS on my iPhone, everybody can read it on the iPad too. Incredibly annoying when your kids are borrowing it all the time.
    How do I stop these things from happening too?
    I want my iPad to be completely separed from all other devices and NOT get any kind of info. sync from any other devices.
    Anyone knows how to do all this?
    /Peter
    P.S. Oh, and another thing: I have a normal iPad too, but Safaris missing on it. How do I get it back? I thought you couldn´t delete it at all?? But if I do a search it doesn´t come up at all?!?!

    System Preferences...
    General
    deselect the option, "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps"
    This is a resume feature of Lion, where the system remembers all your open applications and windows ... If you're not used to it, it can be a bit jarring having everything load up automatically.

  • How do i restore an old version of the mail program?

    My MacBook is running 10.6.  I just did a software update and now cannot open my mail program.  How do I restore back to my old version

    You don't.
    Mac OS X v10.6: Mail.app won’t open, or "You can't use this version of Mail…" alert after installing Security Update 2012-004:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4424?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Fellow user Grant Bennet-Alder offers this solution:
    Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
    When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
    The solution has been to:
    1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
    2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
    3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.
    Security Update 2012-004 (Snow Leopard)
    If the Mail.app has been LOST, it can be re-installed by applying the 10.6.8 version 1.1 combo update. But this update is quite large and it is usually not necessary:

  • How do i restore safari on my iphone 4

  • In Time Capsule, How do you restore safari?

    One of my bookmark links is corrupted.  When I go to this website, it closes all of my open Safari pages.  I am trying to restore the original Safari "Popuar" bookmark folder.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hi, again.
    I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing trouble. There are a few steps that you can use to hopefully get things working. It's best to try them one at a time, but if you're in the mood for a flamethrower approach, feel free to go all the way throught the first go:
    After opening Safari, click the Safari menu and select "Reset Safari...". From the dialogue box that opens up, select all items and then Reset. (Note: You'll lose your cached passwords and form data, so you'll want to be sure that you have all this information available for your next logon to various websites.)
    If that doesn't solve the problem, use the same technique detailed earlier to enter the "~/Library/Safari" folder and delete all the files EXCEPT the Bookmarks.plist. Then move to "~/Library/Preferences" and delete com.apple.Safari.plist, com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist, and com.apple.internetconfig.plist. Don't worry if any of those files are missing, just delete the ones that are there.
    That should restore Safari, with the exception of your bookmarks, to the barebones factory defaults. If the problem STILL exists at that point, then somehow something would appear to still be wrong with the Bookmarks.plist. If so, I'd suggest opening up Disk Utility and fixing permissions on the boot drive, then rebooting and holding Cmd-S at the startup tone. This will boot the system to single-user mode, at which point you should enter "fsck -fy" at the command prompt when boot has finished. This will check the integrity of the disk itself and fix any file system anomalies it finds beyond what fixing permissions did earlier.
    With any luck at all, this will get you back in the running.

  • How do I restore an old version of a Numbers document?

    I've made a bunch of updates to a Numbers spreadsheet, and realized that I had deleted several rows when I shouldn't have.  Help.  I need to restore an old version, but I don't see an option for that when I right-click on a document.

    It seem to me that Apple forgot tracking, locking and versioning.

  • How do I update safari to version 6 or above

    I could not access a website and was advised to update safari to version 6 or above or download google chrome any suggestions?

    There are 3 different versions of Safari and each is a part of OS X.
    Snow Leopard uses version 5.1. Mavericks uses version 7.1. To update your version you must update your version of OS X.
