How do I restore screen brightness?

I'm working in Final Cut Pro 7 - my nephew pressed F1 several times causing the screen brightness to dim to nearly black. What is the keystroke to restore the primary screen (I have dual screen and the secondary screen is 'normal' brightness). Help!
Okay. I'm an idiot. F1 dims F2 brightens. Problem solved. Oh, I'm never going to live this down, am I? Perhaps it's time for a nice bottle of wine.....

You can change the output volume from System Preferences > Sound also.

Alright, first off, thank you for your help so far. I really appreciate it. However, now I have a new problem that I need help with.
I did exactly what you've said to do, and it worked fine, the screen itself became brighter again, it was just too dim before and the brightness settings were all the way up, but after doing what you said to do, It's as it is when using my Apple/Mac OS. The sound coming from the computer speakers and all the other audio issues have been fixed as well. It all sounds like it should in terms of quality. It's just now that I did that, I'll shutdown my computer, or even restart it for some reason, and each and every single time I do that, It's all back to the way it was before installing anything, dim and poor audio quality. Until I install the drivers again like before.
Am I going to have to get used to that or something? Or is there an option I'm just not seeing that would make these preferences and instalations permanent until I input/imply otherwise??

I love my new Macbook, especially the beautiful screen. I find myself worrying about battery life, even though I know I shouldn't. I keep the screen at half brightness on battery, and 3 settings higher when it's plugged in. It looks nice, but I'd love to run the book on full brightness. How much does this affect the battery? Will half brightness really save me 20...30...40 minutes? Has anyone run any tests to see battery life at different brightness settings?

Yes, one of the biggest consumers of power within your MacBook is the display. Why don't you find out for yourself what sort of differnce it makes given that experiences do differ. If you prefer to use your display at full brightness then do so. It is yours!

You pressed the wrong F keys. Press F-10 for dimming the screen. F-11 for brightness. The key board doesn't work then go to control pannell and click on systems on the left bottom click on Performance Information and Tools under Windows upate. Now click on Adjust Power Settings in next window top left side. Now in this window in tne bottom center you will see Sceen Brightness slide the box arrow across bar to desire brightness setting. Tab & Backspace Keys are changing my screen brightness how do I change this?

I have an iMac that I have had for a couple of years. Suddenly the backspace key and tab key are adjusting the screen brightness and I can't seem to change this, any ideas why this has happened and how I just get screen brightness adjusted by using F1 & F2 keys? As far as I know the language of the two stores on the iPad (iTunes and the App Store) can't be changed - they should be in the language of the country where your account is based (if they aren't correct then try logging out of your account by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in).

If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I've gotten most things working on my new laptop but I can't seem to figure out how to adjust my screen brightness.
The first thing I noticed was that there was no /proc/acpi/video directory. So I searched for where it might be:

The first three seemed like they might be useful since they are similar to the ThinkPad brightness values here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/La … brightness. Each one has only the number 15 in it. When I try as root to do

I get:

I have tried setting laptop-mode-tools to automatically echo different numbers when I unplug my laptop but they don't do anything. If you might be able to point me in the right direction, or know how to change the brightness on the Dell L501x, I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Just another thing: Do you get the synaptics touchpad work well? For me it works, but when I try to use two finger scroll, I can't use it when I lay my two fingers at the same time on the touchpad. I own a Dell L401X i7 with Nvidia GT 425m and my touchpad also has problem. I use gpointing-device-setting to enable two finger scrolling. Sometimes it worked pretty well, sometimes when I put two fingers on the touchpad, my mouse jumped all over the screen. I don't know why.
Another thing I notice with this laptop is that my touchpad lock key does not work anymore (it used to work with the fresh installation of Arch)
If you find the solution to these, please share!
PS: I don't why to hijack this thread of CanadaRox, I just want to share some problems some of you guys out there who is owning the same Dell laptop line.

I maxed out the screen brightness before I clicked on "restore defaults" in system preferences> energy saver (which has to do with battery, not exactly screen brightness) to see if the screen went back to a "normal" brightness level, but it didn't. I don't think it restored the brightness to default..

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.

Even after pressing command+option when starting iphoto and selecting rebuild library from automatic backup, it still doesn't work with the grey screen with the white circle and a little window that says 'rebuilding library: 0 versions restored'. I also tried to make a copy of my iphoto library but that did not work either. how can i restore my iphoto library or at least gain access to my photos?

Your question is not clear
Rerairing or rebuilding the iPhoto library never involves using Time Machine in any way
TM is a totally seperate program and you can "restore" a file (including the iPhoto library) from the past using TM - you launch TM and go back to the time you want and select the file (or folder or package) you want and click restore - it probably is best to keep the current one until you are sure everything is good
